Anybody see where Kansas has passed law

for their welfare recipients.  What in the world do they think they are going to do with $25 at a time.  Gave an example of a woman, I think she had one child, she gets $800.  One would suppose perhaps to pay rent and utilities.  What world do they live in that $25 is going to cover anything.  It doesn't even cover a good run to the grocery store.  But, we know that all welfare recipients have cars and they can just drop by the store back and forth to work, and by a meal at a time, right?

It has also been pointed out the recipients will spend lots of their money on ATM fees as there is a charge every time they use the card to withdraw the money.

Kansas needs some new people in government----fast.

Do you live in Kansas? - just asking...

I believe in more state's rights because our country is so diverse - people in New York and California have no clue what life is like in Kansas and if the people of Kansas feel that this is a good solution for welfare fraud, then they should be allowed to pursue it - obviously using their welfare card to go on a cruise is something they want to prevent.....

That's because a watchdog group found money being withdrawn at ATMs - for casinos, liquor, strip clubs,

and Kansas is going broke like my state of Colorado and many other states, and they are trying to cut down on fraud and abuse.

What about Colorado's windfall from mj taxes? Surely you - are not going broke?! nm

Taxes from other sources does nothing to cut down on fraud. - I think performance reviews

and investigations of all employees who are paid with tax money should be done, as well as fraud review.

Are what you’re stating a fact that they can’t use their cards at the grocery stores themselves? Are you saying they have to go to an ATM to get cash to use at the grocery stores? I think that’s what you are implying but that’s far from the truth, isn’t it?

The new law says they can't use cash assistance from the state to attend concerts, get tattoos, see a psychic or buy lingerie. The list of don'ts runs to several dozen items.

A lot of the restrictions already existed. This is just a part of the welfare law taking affect in July. Seems like the Kansas Department for Children and Families officials said that it's difficult to track how often cash assistance is used for items on the state's new list because recipients can use their benefits cards to obtain cash and that’s why they are going to limit ATM withdrawals to $25 a day.

So why do they post a sign that says EBT - cards accepted if they

accepted everywhere. Would be like putting up signs stating we accept "cash." Obviously, to me, they are not accepted everywhere, nor would the welfare recipient be able to use those cards to pay rent in some situations. This is just another poorly thought out restriction on the welfare system.

The Real Reason Kansas Is Running Out Of WaterSep 04, 2013
This same dynamic is playing out in most states. There are moves to get Congress to, first of all, stop subsidizing these practices with taxpayer dollars, but agribusiness, which never intended to get taxpayer money off its back, just our ability to control what's done with it, has its paid agents, our congressmen, fighting anything that will interfere with profits. Second, of course, is nasty old government "interference" to encourage agribusiness's transition to proven means of growi ...

Kansas City Police Captain Shot Dead. Jul 20, 2016
Will this war on cops stop? Seems like they’re going after the officers now. That’s a significant change. "A Kansas City, Kansas police captain has been shot and reported killed Tuesday afternoon." I don't think we're in a civil war yet because the vast majority of us don’t have a problem with each other. It’s the divisiveness driven by the far left radicals on the left that have fueled so much of this. ...

Budget To Be Passed (hopefully) Apr 21, 2010
By Walter Alarkon - 04/20/10 08:50 AM ET Senate Democrats have written their budget resolution so they can pass jobs legislation using reconciliation, the controversial process used last month to move healthcare reform. The resolution does not specify what specific jobs measures could be covered, and does not explicitly allow for the use of reconciliation rules to pass energy legislation or the extension of George W. Bush-era tax cuts set to expire at the end of the ...

I spent the last few hours reading it (I really hate legalese-LOL) then did a search on collective bargaining. I did see where they wanted to tie raises to the CPI but can't find it now. Anyway, the pages that I found CB in the search are: Pgs. 955-964, 998, 1045, 1061, 1312, 1332-1334. So, tell me where they are stripping collecitve bargaining from the unions. Fair question.    http://legis.wisconsin.gov/2011/data/AB-40.pdf ...

Tax Cuts Passed 277-148 And Reid/OmnibusDec 17, 2010
They worked late into the night to pass it. It will cost $858 billion but it gives everyone a "breather" for a while. Reid pulled the Omnibus bill off the table; i.e., just died. John McCain, Tom Coburn, and Jim DeMint were the reason because they wanted the bill read page per page. Guess Reid didn't want the people to know what was really in the bill.  I had forgotten some of the crap in there but thankfully, the John Murtha Foundation (biggest crook in PA) will not be funded, n ...

Just 14 Republicans voted against it. Dems wanted Sequester, now they don't! ...

Civil Rights Bills Passed ForAug 21, 2017
Food for thought: “I maintain that every civil rights bill in this country was passed for white people, not for black people. For example, I am black. I know that. I also know that while I am black I am a human being. Therefore I have the right to go into any public place. White people don’t know that. Every time I tried to go into a public place they stopped me. So some boys had to write a bill to tell that white man, “He’s a human being; don’t stop him." That bill was for the whit ...
