Sitting here crying, can hardly see thru tears.

Posted: Jul 24, 2014

I am so sad, broken hearted, things are not going well, I am so unhappy I dont want to even go on.

Please, pray for a fellow MT who is in a life situation with many stressors, and fearing for my job like so many others.   Hoping that even one small prayer from someone will help turn things around.

I really hate this, so sad and there is no one I can discuss this with. Just some prayers, please, to help me turn my attitude around. I just want the pain and the stress to stop.

I too am in your position - newbutold

I will pray for you as I ask for prayers also. Sometimes I just type through the tears. So many difficulties and so very depressed. Trying to battle through and it is so hard. All I want to do is crawl into bed and just stay there but I have no choice but to try and work which makes it so difficult to focus when you are feeling like this. I am trying to hold down 2 jobs as I have no choice so I can pay bills but it is so very difficult to do. Hang in there and I will pray for you. We can make it through with prayers

God will watch over you, try to turn over your worries to him. I know it is difficult and I can't always do that either, but he is there for you.

I sure hope so, thank you. I feel so bad, barely enough strength - so hard to keep going.sm

I would appreciate all the prayers I can get to help me keep going and hope things turn around. Thank you, everyone.

You reached out... - anon

Sometimes it's hard to pray for your own situation when feeling so bad. I truly believe that faithful prayer can move mountains. You're going through a rough patch right now, but hold on. You've reached out for prayer, which is a powerful thing, and now you need to trust and believe that things are going to start changing for the better in your life soon. I'm praying for comfort and peace to enter into your heart and mind right now, and that in the morning you'll see things from a different perspective. Maybe some of the solutions are already there in place for you, but you just haven't been able to recognize them for feeling so bad. Please let us know how you're doing these next few days...Keep the faith!

Sitting here crying- - I totally understand

[ In Reply To ..]
your pain. It seems most people do not understand how draining doing this work is and when you are struggling to meet line counts, accuracy and make enough $$ to pay the bills. You are not alone believe me. I know a lot of my stress comes from anger that I feel because of the disrespect we receive from those over us who have never transcribed and have not a clue as to what we do. I wish I had an answer or a solution for each and every one of us. I keep telling myself, it is just a job, but that doesn't work very often, it is more than a job, it takes a lot to do this work. Sometimes I just take a break and act silly, dance like a fool to some oldies music, do some goofy kung-fu kicks like I am beating the crap out of someone and a lot of praying. I really hope your time left having to do this work is short so you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Try some baby steps for you, they are hard, but maybe just walk around the block. Don't allow them to have this control and ruin you; they are not worth it and don't let them win. It is hard to find good friends but do you have neighbors that you could chit-chat with? It is really hard for others to understand how this job is so draining so even to talk to someone about how you feel is hard. Feel free to email me. I have walked this path, and at the end of the trail now, 35 years, and finally reaching SS age and working only minimal here soon. Take some time to look at you, focus on what you like about yourself, you are worth more than how this job makes you feel. Financial stress adds insult to injury to all of us, to work so hard for such little pay is demeaning and in my generation we were taught to work hard but now it is work for peanuts so the others make a profit. The psychological affect of feeling disposable even though you work hard and the fact that the MT is given the responsibility of perfection regardless of what we are listening to adds to the stress placed on us. I have learned to lighten up on me, yes I do my best, I do research and strive for that perfection, but if I have to leave a blank because the dictator is tired or sloppy, I don't stress anymore. I have given that responsibility back to the dictator.

Sorry to go on so long, but it breaks my heart to see what has happened in our work situation. Regardless of the technology and all the changes, that does not excuse the disrespect the higher-ups dish out. We are human beings, we are not robots. Every report that is transcribed has ears that listen, a brain the words filter through, fingers that type and eyes that are looking at every word.

Take a deep breath, give it to God and let him have the stress.

Do something for YOU every day. You are special. Make yourself find good things around you. Once you walk away from work, don't look back that day, it is done and over.
Thank you for your kind words - newbutold

I responded also to the above person as I am in the same situation and thank you for your kind words. Depression is a scary and very real thing and like you said it is hard enough to worry about your personal problems etc but then to have to worry about your job all the time just really piles it on. Thank you again

May God bless you with the peace that passes all understanding. I'm also praying that He provides a path to financial strength and stability for you. With God, ALL things are possible.

I am praying for you right now and will keep you in my prayers. Just keep in mind that you never know what is right around the corner, even though you can't see it right now. God has a way of bringing something into your life in a way and at a time when you least expect it. He will give you the strength to hang on until he does.

Dear fellow MT,

So very concerned about you. I think I can speak for all of us who have been praying for you these past few days that we all care very much about you and do understand the tremendous stress this job can cause. It can all become so very overwhelming, along with all the other stressors in our lives. Every one of us can identify, I'm sure. I just want you to know that you're not alone in this. There are a lot of caring and understanding folks right here, who know exactly what you're going through and where you're coming from, and will still be right here when you're ready to reach out again.

Still praying for you...

Wondering... - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I've been wondering too about OP. I really sensed the desperation in the post that day and really felt the urgent need there for some help, Devine intervention for sure, for whatever situation that was going on at the time. There have been some posts here that can move you to tears because you can identify with the pain the OP is going through, and this was one of them for me. I continue to wonder as well how things are now. It may be we'll never know...I really hope things have turned around for the better and that we'll hear back from the OP some day.

I echo your sentiments. I come here every day looking for the OP. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The OP is still in my prayers, too! We all are. I pray for all of us in this profession, especially the ones (like me) who have found or will find it impossible to get into something else.

I keep telling myself that no news is good news. I certainly hope so. I know that others have prayed for the OP and maybe still are, as you and I are doing. Sometimes it's in those really difficult and desperate situations that God moves heaven and earth to get us the help we need when we ask Him in faith. So I've got to keep believing that something life changing is taking place there for the OP. It may not be a change in the external circumstances, but maybe more internal such as in self-regard or self-esteem. Only God knows what's truly needed because He knows us better than anyone.

As far as our profession, I agree, this is a tough business to be in now days with so much uncertainty day to day - not knowing when the other shoe is going to drop. I stay, not so much because I want to, but because I have to right now. I am mindful about having a backup plan, though. I know it won't be easy and it will take some hard work to find something else, but I will. There's so much information online on where to get help in finding another position at home, if that's what you would like. Just explore that one area or whatever type of work you might be interested in. I find if I search for too many things at once, I get way too overwhelmed and just give up. But narrowing down the search to one thing only, makes it so much easier.

Jesus Shedding TearsMar 24, 2017
I found this link to a very spiritual youtube presentation which really touched and amazed me.  I am not sure who the woman is that tells what she has seen and heard, but I cannot believe this is untrue.  When I consider how this nation and world have become, I can certainly understand why Jesus would have tears streaming down his face.  The hatred, violence, division, abuse, crime, and empty churches are things I never imagined I would live to see, but I have.  As a 4th grad ...

I'm So Frustrated I Feel Like Crying - SmAug 08, 2013
I talked to my PM today about never having any work, she said she would reset my profile because I only have about half of her accounts and I'm running out of work halfway through my shift for months now and she said she would reset but I'm OOW again and I reminded her to fix it and she still hasn't done it.  They just don't get that it costs half your pay when you're out of work half your shift, I think because she's not production, she's salaried.  ...

What Sitting At Desk All Day Does To UsAug 15, 2015
I bet I'm not the only MT who has near-debilitating pain in the "sitz bones," aka ischial tuberosity pain.  It's directly related to the fact that I sit all day long at my keyboard.  I've tried buying ergonomic chairs and expensive seat cushions, adjusting my desk, sitting up as straight as I can, all to no avail.  I've even had 2 rounds of corticosteroid injections in both ischial tuberosities, right and left.  Ahhhh.....the effects of the steroid injecti ...

Another Reason For The Crying Need For Healthcare Reform:Dec 04, 2012
A Hospital War Reflects a Bind for Doctors in the U.S. By JULIE CRESWELL and REED ABELSON For decades, doctors in picturesque Boise, Idaho, were part of a tight-knit community, freely referring patients to the specialists or hospitals of their choice and exchanging information about the latest medical treatments. But that began to change a few years ago, when the city’s largest hospital, St. Luke’s Health System, began rapidly buying physician practices all over t ...

and I remembered the debate in which President Obama pointed out that Mitt Romney didn't have an actual plan outlined and that if anyone had gone to him with an idea without the plan outlined, that person would have been crazy to invest in it...kinda thing.  I find that funny actually.  Didn't we do that with Obamacare?  Pelosi said we had to pass it to find out what was in it.  As far as having a plan, what happened to Obama's plan when he ran in 2008.  ...

Instead Of A Big Brown Box Sitting In The KitchenJan 21, 2015
I buy sweet potatoes by the box load, about 25 pounds at a time, also buy onions and oranges the same way at the farmer's market. Would anyone have any ideas about how to store the items instead of their being in the boxes like they are now, out in the kitchen? I have no storage space in my cabinets and where they are located now is like a cubby hole under a desk, not a movable one but one made into the countertop. Thanks for any ideas. ...
