paying the Occupy protesters

Union dues hard at work?

‘Turf-tastic: “Occupy” protester says he was paid $60 to protest CPAC

This is what democracy astroturf looks like.

One protester told TheDC that all the “Occupy” activists were being paid to protest, and that his union, Sheet Metal Workers Local 100, approached him about the money-making opportunity…

Other “Occupy CPAC” protesters were unwilling to speak on camera because they were unaware what they were protesting and what the CPAC event was about.

That’s Michelle Fields with the mic; the last time she tried to interview Occupiers in D.C., she was harassed so aggressively that she vowed never to bother with them again. The real smoking gun that these guys aren’t part of the movement, I think, is that they’re simply far too civil to be true believers.

paying the Occupy protesters - sm - No use for unions

[ In Reply To ..]
Not at all surprised. This happened in our city, too. Like this really helped the rank and file. Used to belong to a union and never will again. What a total waste. Sure doesn't help their "cause" either. Check out the article in USA today, not a conservative rag, talking about the demise of the OWS...thank GOD!

USA Today? Pffft! - Hohohehehahaha !

at this point is to get the people of this country more engaged and talking about income inequality, offshoring of jobs, etc. They have brought these issues to the forefront, which is at least a start IMO.

OWS came to Phillips aid after she and a - coworker were clubbed by NYPD.

[ In Reply To ..]

The embedded link to Phillip’s reported refusal to ever cover OWS protests again is dated Nov 5.  On Nov 17 Phillips reported in her own words the encounter with NYPD she had that day in the Daily Caller, along with how demonstrators immediately came to her aid, yet her slanted reporting continues to trash the movement at every turn.  Some folks will compromise even the most basic principles of human decency to hang onto their jobs, and hers is with Tucker Carlson (hohoheeheehaha), who has made his bias and political agendas abundantly clear.  Is it any wonder OWS protesters are reluctant to consent to an interview with her?

Another problem I have with this is that Phillips “claims” to have been told an Occupy protester said he had been paid.  I see no video and no credible corroborating reports from outside the fringosphere, whose hatred and fear of OWS is well known.   Then there is always the possibility that someone who “has nothing good to say” about the local union (especially one who is supposedly paying him to be there) just might be another kinder, gentler type of infiltrator (as opposed to the black-clad vandals who Appear at the rallies, disrupt, then disappear) who HAS been paid to smear the movement.  This wouldn't be a first.

A shy meek person exercising 1st Amendment rights was caught off-guard and had to "think about" how to explain a message when a mike was suddenly thrust into her face by an aggressive reporter?  Big fat deal.  Just because a person is not instantly articulate and forthcoming with sound bytes on demand does NOT mean they do not know what they stand for or believe in, and certainly plays no part in discrediting the movement, unlike the snakeoil salemen/corporate shills who show up to "report" on it.

This tiny little report is full of holes and lean on fact…exactly what we have come to expect from the likes of Tucker Carlson et al.

When an article starts with the words "right-winger" and "trolling", one knows they need not read any further it is for sure not credible.

On yeah...Media Matters...nothing more needs to be said.

Nice try.....sigh
Your'e kidding, right? - Sigh - Would not be old news if

it was something nasty about a Repub, Christian or conservative...then you would see posts plastered all over here trying to set them straight. Incidentally, MediaMatters was started, funded by George Soros (the one vowing to destry USA anyway he can), and is a media favorite of Clintons and Obama, who also have a very tight association with Soros. Soros also contributed massive cash, publicity, man power, etc., to each of their campaigns; Bill, Hill and Barack.
Stop playing victim. It's manufactured news - that has been

debunked months ago. Whether you read it from Media Matters or go directly to the WFP website, there is a QUOTE from the Executive Director of WFP denying that the Craigslist ad was to OWS recruit protesters. Period. If you have a problem with the fact that Rush, Glen, or other people who didn't bother to check continue to bring up the already debunked Craiglist ad for protesters garbage story, blame THEM... not anyone else. For all you know, I could be a conservative tired of other conservatives spewing misinformation.
Stop playing victim. It's manufactured news - Don't care who you are

or what you believe. It is not manufactured. The OWS in my city were paid. What was funniest of all was, they were so filthy and living in such squalor, the OWS group started wearing gas masks; too funny! Wonder how the paid for them, or did they just steal them like they did so many other things here. Everything posted about George Soros came from George Soros' own mouth, which you can easily look up yourself. Whom I did or did not have a problem with is quite an assumption on your part, completely devoid of any fact. Find it funny how you so quickly jump to erroneous decisions in regards to a complete stranger, personally attack them and think that is okay. Incidentally, please note that YOU started with the victimization; never stated in OP or my post..it ALL started with you dear!!
Yikes - sometimes I shudder at the ignorance of - some on this board, & in this country.

yeah...we all get it. Some love OWS not matter what they do. Speaking of being "uninformed" OWS is responsible for millions of dollars worth of cost to our community, they are filthy, area was completely overrun with rats, they stole, robbed and yes...they raped, even within their own tent cities. People can believe what they want, but far more "proof" as to the damage OWS has done. In my city alone, they cost us several million. Not to mention the "working" people with inability to get to work, robbed from "working" people, stole from "working" store owners affecting their bottom line, damaged 10s of millions of private property belowing to "working" people. They also stole from each other. Actually, funny to walk past their tent cities seeing them use the Apples, cell phones, laptops (almost exclusively made overseas, but did not stop them from buying them - so much for the "American" worker they were supporting...yea, riiiighht). They are NOT respected by anyone here; they don't even respect each other. Everyone else wants them to go to George Soros' home and protest (top of the 1% heap is where old Georgie sits). So, unfortunately, the uninformed reaches far and wide and starts and ends with OWS.
Umm....are there any electronics now - Made in America? nm

UA electronics - Been looking for USA made
[ In Reply To ..]
as of yet, have not found any. Will keep looking for my own knowledge.

That's not OWS, or even affiliated with them. - Sheesh!

This is not an ad to pay people to protest It - seems to me to be SM

[ In Reply To ..]
a job ad working at this organization with specific requirements for leadership skills, etc., a full time job with a salary. I really don't see the connection other than the organziations are working together with specific goals in mind. How you can equate this with those "awful, dirty people" (as many who oppose OWS tend to describe the protestors) is beyond me.

Before the Occupy Wall Street movement, there was little discussion of the outsized power of Wall Street and the diminishing fortunes of the middle class.
