Unions join protesters. Hateful, out of control, and

This is accomplishing nothing but a BAD message of hate and "gimme gimme".  How shameful the USA has become.  Obama has contributed to this, unfortunately, with his constant bashing of the rich.  He should speak up at this point before someone gets killed !!!

unfortunately we havve no voice in Washington - minimumwageworker

and protests are the only way to get the word out that this country needs change. We elected officials who are supposed to represent us and they don't. they represent themselves and their own pockets. Thank Goodness for the protesters. I salute them!!!

Majority of USA now AGAINST the protesters, but - you "salute" them? Wow, that says

[ In Reply To ..]
a lot about you, then. Their message is lost. They have injured people, caused destruction and millions to the taxpayers, and hurt some small businesses. Yeah, salute them. How pathetic.

you must be watching fox news....I hear the majority of the Country is for them.... - Saluter

You're right. That person is narrow-minded, mean- - spirited, hateful and ignorant.

Go watch the videos if you want to see HATE! - Wake up! Protesters need to give it up.

The message is gone because the thugs have taken over and OCCUPIED property, vandalized property, and hurt people...totally classless.
yea they should just go home if they have homes... - minimumwageworker

and do nothing. oh yea they can vote...maybe they'll get a new person in to take over same as the old guy. don't do anything to change anything because things are just so incredible now. My wages are the same as they were in the 80s but I should be grateful I have a job. Everything else has gone up in value but what I do, but I should just be grateful that the wall street executives are doing well. I should just bury my head in the sand and do nothing and just be grateful i have sand to bury my head in. Yea, those protesters are just terrible!!!
Some of them don't have homes because - sm

they don't have a job and are living out of their cars (if they have cars).

These people aren't stupid. I personally know of one of the protesters who has TWO degrees and cannot find a job in this "America the Beautiful." He certainly has more than enough education to be able to teach, but in this wonderful America, teachers are being laid off because education is obviously considered not that important by some, particularly rich GOP-ers who would rather loosen child labor laws than do the right thing for citizens.

I think that Wall Street has a LOT to feel shameful about, yet there are posters on this board that would defend their tactics, fees and ethics and smear the people who protest against that kind of treatment.

I wonder what THEY will do if/when they lose their security blanket of being able to earn a living wage and find their middle-class selves suddenly thrust into poverty.

Others with degrees have enormous student loan payments due and have no jobs.

We've been complaining for a LONG TIME on this board about jobs being off-shored. That's what OWS is doing now. It doesn't strike just the poor. These people should be able to be at least middle class tax contributors, but jobs in their field(s) have been off-shored or cut.

These are highly educated/intelligent people who have the audacity to protest how rotten the powers to be have been to middle-class/poor Americans in almost every field.

Why are some of you so infuriated at people who will most likely benefit YOU the longer they protest?
Big wrong. See link. Majority now AGAINST. - Indy

the protesters won't be the ones who start it. It will be the police, the city governments that employ them, and the big-bucks puppeteers at the top (i.e., the "1%") that will have blood on their hands.

The ones who bring about violence (here, in the Middle East, or ANYWHERE), are the hateful, narrow-minded folks who won't even consider entering into a civil, meaningful discussion.

Sorta like some of the anti-everything posts we've been reading here.

That is a total lie. Some protesters even used kids - as shields and admitted it... shameful. nm

[ In Reply To ..]
that OWS should be ashamed that a homeless veteran found solace within an OccupyBurlington tent before he made the tragic decision to end his own life? I suppose you're also trying to blame OWS for the random shooting crime that happened NEAR (as opposed to inside) the Oakland site between individuals NOT AFFILIATED with the movement as well.

FYI, the 12% unemployment rate for vets is 133% of the national rate. THAT'S a shame. According to the VA, one service member commits suicide EVERY 80 MINUTES, and according to the Center for a New American Security, what's worse is that, although only 1% of Americans have served in the military, former service members represent a staggering 20% OF ALL SUICIDES in the United States. That's BEYOND shame, especially considering the part politics plays in the underlying conditions that have contributed to these gastly statistics.

Today is Veteran's Day. I have spent the day remembering my neighbor's son who joined the war on terror right after Shock and Awe at age 19, who never saw his 21st birthday. I remembered a friend of my son's whom he had known since 2nd grade that carpooled with us to soccer games in junior high, was my son's favorite golf partner in high school, who pledged the same fraternity with him when they went off to college together, and who became his first roommate after they graduated, before he joined the Marines. He's gone now and God forgive me, but I am so grateful my son didn't follow him overseas where he died in a suicide bomber attack in Mosul, 4 days before Christmas 2004.

I remember many of my own friends who were lost in Viet Nam, including my best friend from junior high and high school. He gave me my very first kiss when we were 13. My half-sister remembers her dad (Tony), who was killed in Italy in WWII 7 weeks before she was born, and I remember my dad, who was his best friend, and who met my mom for the first time when he took leave after Tony died to bring some of his personal belongings to her, including the last letter he never had a chance to mail, where he expressed his desire that she name a girl child "Linda" because he "knew her daughter would be beautiful."

Of all of them, I remember my dad more than anyone else. He and my mom got married the day after my sister's 3rd birthday and within the next 6 years, Linda had 3 siblings. Then my dad finally succumbed to PTSD, lost his mind, was diagnosed first (incorrectly) with bipolar schizophrenia, then eight years later with manic depression. He was institutionlized for 28 years in the VA system. I was not quite 7 when he left, so they never really told me where he had gone or why...just that he was "away." At first, I thought he was dead. In those early years, the VA used massive electric shock treatments and experimental drug therapies, including large and frequent doses of LSD in the late 50s and early 60s. Mercifully, by the mid 80s, psychotropic drug therapies had advanced to the point where he was able to be released to a "halfway house" group home setting, where he lived out the remainder of his days. Some of his fellow vet/patients weren't so lucky. Two that I can remember killed themselves while in the VA hospital, and a third hung himself in the group home. He survived that attempt as quadriplegic since he did manage to break his neck.

So excuse me while I become deeply offended at your mere suggestion that OWS and "you all" should be ashamed to be associated with that tragic event. Personally, I could no more dissociate myself with the unnamed vet at OccupyBurlington than I could with my own father. The shame is all yours for trying to make political hay out of a veteran's suicide...and on Veteran's Day, no less!

No your post made political hay out of - Our Veterans Day

[ In Reply To ..]
That's why all you got is this sickening hateful spew. FYI, progressives proudly oppose war, not vets. The OP threw out a few verifiable stats and told stories based on personal experiences to illustrate a very well taken point. The post was compelling and effective and you have no real way to dispute it, other than this failed effort to discredit and exclude her even from the right to recall the loss of family and friends to war on Veteran's Day.

You got one thing right. OUR veterans. They belong to us all. Your trying to lay exclusive claim to them is way beyond the pale and speaks volumes about your lack of character and the cancerous partisan agenda you harbor. Though my first impulse is to tell you to go away and stay way, I hope you continue to personify the rotten core that is cannibalizing your party from the inside out in your future posts, which you have done astonishingly well in this current one.

Rumor has it that despite the scores of GOP primary candidates, the percentages of GOP "undecided" is rapidly closing in on your misogynist flavor of the week, whose numbers are slipping, especially among women. The TP has the GOP by the cajones and has renderend them too stupid to get behind their moderate Mormon cameleon statistical frontrunner, who polls consistently show is the only contender who has even the slightest chance of challenging Obama. If I were you, I'd be more worried about cleaning up the toxic waste dump in your own back yard.

OWS is a force beyond your control and will never be bullied into submission, but please, please, please, I beg you, don't let that stop you from trying. That strategy was a real bust in 2008 and for those who fail to learn from history, it is doomed to fail yet again in 2012. You guys got nothing. Good luck with that next fall.

This will be my final reply to you prog/libs on this thread.

I love America and always will. This is my home and will be till the day I die. No other country gives you the freedom and the liberties like the USA does. For that I thank our Men and Women in the Armed Forces. When you have a chance thank a Vet, I have had the opportunity to hug and thank a Vet for 55 years.

Remember them when you go about your daily miserable hate-filled lives. Remember them as you go about trashing our Country, and remember them as you go about promoting and supporting civil discourse to push your greedy agenda.

GOD BLESS AMERICA, BECAUSE BELIEVE IT OR NOT THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO HAVE FAITH IN HIM AND ALWAYS WILL.
Dont let God's door kick you in the posterior - as you get demoted to that Other Place.

[ In Reply To ..]
Bringing religion into this is laughable, considering your anti-Christ(or God) posts are totally AGAINST the moral and right thing to do.

But people like you believe they have God on their side, instead of being on God's side, which preaches that the poor and disadvantaged should be helped, not condemned.

I don't try to pretend that I hold the exclusive keys to heaven. I use my conscience and moral values to come to the conclusions, having seen firsthand what OWS is doing in my own community, and none of them deserve such harsh remarks. Fortunately, if you represent the people who believe they're morally superior and go to Heaven while supporters of OWS (like me) wind up in Hell, all I can say is I'd be proud to go to the place where their/my values don't match yours, and very proud of the company I'll be keeping; it's certainly better than spending eternity with those who feel morally superior to others who don't share their opinions.

What? Didn't you jump all over another poster earlier today - for doing just that.
[ In Reply To ..]
Your hypocrisy is off the chart.
So tell us: Why does freedom of speech and a - TRUE democracy scare you so much?
[ In Reply To ..]
It seems to terrify you. What are you so scared of losing? Your whopping 7cpl income? Your "benefits" that basically benefit only THEMSELVES, and not you? Your skewed sense of superiority? What exactly is it that you're so scared you'll lose if OWS is successful in changing a corporate-controlled country back into a democratic one?

What's truly shameful is your ignorance. - Your hatred is truly VILE.
