FEMA prepares for - national disasters and emergencies

that hold the potential for high body counts. Such events includes terrorist attacks, either direct or via biological warfare, devastating earthquakes, direct hits on urban populations by high-category hurricanes (i.e. Katrina events), and massive flooding.

The IRS purchases bullets for use by their agents who work in the fraud and criminal enforcement divisions of the organization. They carry guns, execute search warrants, make arrests, and respond to threats against offices, staff and customers. They use bullets during training on the firing range, where most of these bullets are expended. Each agent in this capacity has on average a 590-bullet allocation to this end. Hollow point bullets are standard for law enforcement agencies and are use to minimize "collateral damage" since they do not penetrate their targets and pose a threat to surrounding property or persons.

BTW, this stupid coffin video has been around at least since 2008 and has been debunked dozens upon dozens of times. Now that reports have surfaced of the IRS recent purchase of their fiscal year allotment of ammo (last month), are we to expect the conspiracy theorists to rise up in a new round of fresh mass foolishness from those rattling their cages and plotting to storm the Bastille?

Some agitated (as one might imagine!) conspiracists are expecting trucks to roll - up in the middle of the night any time now. See

the enclosed link from Revolution Radio in September on how to avoid getting trapped in FEMA camps. According to this warning we (being everybody who objects to an evil takeover of our country) are supposedly about 15 minutes away from being put on a bus.

"The operation will most likely take place in the middle of the night. When they roll up, mega watt lights will be shone onto the neighborhood. This disorientates you as well as illuminate your home for movement. This also means the power to your block will be secured. Depending on the size of the town, perhaps several blocks at once."

It does sound like it would be a break in the boredom--and a solution to my MT pay problem, as well. In any case, there's more info and instruction below for those who feel a need to cover their bases. We need to start with prearranged hiding spots. He recommends built-in windowseats. :)

If our economy had crashed to the point of interrupting - food deliveries to stores, we'd have learned

was it was like standing in line for FEMA-delivered rations. In L.A. after earthquakes (I moved away over a decade ago), I'd see FEMA trucks in badly damaged neighborhoods, although those times most people had the wherewithal to just move to a motel or something. Still, it was practice for a real emergency.

Armed National Guard kids would be directing traffic importantly and totally unnecessarily (both annoying and alarming--L.A. commuters don't appreciate the slow-down and they seemed too young to trust with rifles) in major intersections, obviously there to keep order, although fortunately everything was perfectly orderly. Still, if things were so bad that law broke down, we'd have been very glad of them.

When the world economy was very dicey four years ago, I wondered if we'd end up waiting in line for our bag of rice or whatever while troops guarded the delivery trucks and kept the line orderly. Awful as that sounds, almost nobody grows their own food any more, and FEMA would be coordinating attempts to many from starving before order was restored. What about areas where the water supply was disrupted? Much more serious than just food.

They'd also be handling disposal of bodies from whatever disaster might have caused all, especially to control disease.

BTW, they've never actually handled a major disaster affecting an entire region or more, say after an international economic collapse or terrorist attack on our communications grids. I'd suggest putting a few weeks' supplies aside. We have.

Oh, goodie - RC

I remember when this crap all started years ago.

I think a few select special people are holed up with their guns and astronaut food, waiting for their big moment to save the world from...

I dunno. Aliens or something.

I hate to say I'm related to a few of these hopefuls.

RC, we agree on so much, but just yesterday our Secretary - of Defense issued public warning on this. SM

It's a big deal when someone at his level comes out and states that we're at pre-9/11 preparedness for the sorts of emergency a well-planned terror attack may well cause.

I'd note that 3000+ people and some buildings are very small potatoes compared to what could happen. Our society wasn't built during a series of infrastructure collapses, getting more safeguards built in each time. It'll be both surprisingly strong and complete in some ways and shockingly vulnerable, just like those towers, in others. We can count on that.

BTW, if power, food, water, and communications are lost in your state and the ones around, who's going to try to help the injured, old people and others with special needs in a neighorhood whose families live 30 and 40 miles away under marshal law? No time for na-na. In New Orleans the best some physicians could do was help people die as easily as possible.

Some Notion Of What FEMA's Up To In A DozenOct 31, 2012
This is part of a FEMA bulletin. FEMA's job is COORDINATION of national disaster relief resources. If you scan down, I underlined some of the national resources coordinated by FEMA when needed. Note that governors have the option--in most cases--of requesting FEMA assistance or not (things like nuclear plant emergencies and terrorism examples of obvious exceptions).  At bottom is a link to a NY Times article on what FEMA's been doing in NY/NJ. Not Romney But OBAMA Proposes Cuts To FEMA!!Oct 30, 2012
See pages 94-96 of Obama's sequestration budget plan.  Yes, Romney believes that FEMA has been over-funded for the results that we've actually gotten from the agency (which are perfectly miserable) - but the difference is, Romney plans to redistribute the money to the states and it isn't therefore a cut to emergency funding.  Under Obama's plan, the money would be used to fund OBAMACARE. Romney Thinks FEMA Should Be Disbanded, Gov. Christie No Longer Agrees. SmOct 30, 2012
I'm glad FEMA is here in the Northeast. We have a lot of damage here and a lot of people without power.  Funny how Gov. Christie changed his opinion about FEMA being disbanded after New Jersey got hit with Hurricaine Sandy/Superstorm.  Well, not really funny.  He apparently saw the light. So, if you live in New England or the Eastern seaboard are you still voting for Romney?  You think your state can handle a major disaster by itself?  Think again. ...

Good for you to rise above it all and do the right thing, President Obama - because I daresay you'd get the same kind of help from Texas, if the situation were reversed ;) And yet Texans just keep kicking Obama and the Feds in the teeth every chance they get, as evidenced by both the type of Texans mentioned in the post below mine, as well as  some of the comments underneath it - talk about ungrateful "takers."
