No politician, regardless of party affiliation, should be a person to either worship or to demonize. Conservative media perverts religion and takes advantage of people's beliefs to demonize the POTUS, and for some reason, conservatives think liberals do the reverse. He dragged his feet in NO during Katrina. He delayed his emergency evacuation order until less than a day before landfall, which led to hundreds of deaths of people who couldn't find any way out of the city. Let's not forget those school buses that he refused to be used in evacuation because of "lack of insurance liability" and "shortage of bus drivers."
Let's not forgot Governor Blanco. She seemed so undecisive. She made a request to the Federal government for additional National Guard troops to supplement the 5,700 Louisiana National Guard troops available in Louisiana at the time but made the request through the federal National Guard Bureau and was not made until Wednesday, a full two days AFTER the hurricane hit and when much of the city was already under water. She also failed to activate a compact with other states that would have allowed her to bypass the National Guard Bureau in a request for additional troops
According to different articles, at first Blanco and Nagin refused National Guard help. President Bush had phoned the governor and the mayor On Saturday (27 August two days before Katrina hit) offering help for the second time. Governor Blanco then requested that President Bush "declare an emergency for the State of Louisiana due to Hurricane Katrina."
The White House responded to Governor Blanco's request that same day (Saturday) by declaring the emergency and authorizing FEMA "to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency."

They seem to always be looking for a "nice Christian male" candidate to "save" them, saying things like "although he has no political experience, he is a good man" or "he was a pastor." We loathe the thought that the President of the United States would make a decision based on any religious doctrine.

That kind of drivel just makes liberals laugh out loud. While conservatives are freaking out about the prospect, liberals could not care less. We see the truth for what it is: Obama is being demonized for some of the same policies of conservative presidents like Saint Ronald Reagan, but he couldn't be so easily demonized if the right wing did not conflate religion with politics. If you look at the facts, the hypocrisy is stunning, but then facts don't really matter much to conservatives when they don't fit their worldview, so facts become superfluous and ignored.

I believe that FEMA staged better and was more responsive in Sandy as a result of the screw up in Katrina. I believe what the OP is referring to is a timeliness of payment and recuperation for damages via FEMA in Sandy. There's plenty of problems, still, with Katrina in payments, and lots of uninhabitable empty trailers.
