Who wants to keep Guantanamo open?

surprised in the least. The republicans are against anything and everything that Obama supports. It does not matter if it hurts the United States.
In fact, I believe they WANT to hurt the United States since it seems that they only want very rich and very poor to live in this country. More and more people are dropping from the middle class to the poor class under the House's rule.
It goes hand in hand with the republicans wanting to stop overtime pay. It smacks of slavery, which I believe is exactly what they want.
They've crafted a no-win situation - OP

All Obama has to do is sign the defense spending bill, and he'll be blamed for not doing some thing about Guantanamo.
All he has to do is not sign it and then he's blamed for not funding the military.
It's just another personal assault on Obama because there's absolutely no other reason this bill makes sense.
Reps want to pour almost 250 million into Guantanamo, but they want it closed... and WHO wastes our taxpayer money?
He doesn't want to close it - he never did - he just - wants to blame Repubs, as usual.

Well, now he can since Pubs intro'd bill to keep it open and - infuse 250 million dollars

It should remain open - terrorists have to be housed somewhere. - (sm)

But they should do away with the new tennis courts and play areas they have put in. Ideal situation would be to send them back to their country of origin, but that'd never work. This country is too worried about PC.

http://roomfordebate.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/13/the-challenges-of-closing-guantanamo/
The following paragraph was retyped from an article that doesn’t read too well Link is below.
“The closing of the prison should be because of the torture and inhumane treatment. The fact that some of the prisoners are being detained without having had a proper trial is wrong, but no grounds for closing down the prison. We must ask how safe it is to close a facility that contains some of the worlds’ most dangerous and formidable criminals, terrorists. In CNN news article on His proposed closer of the Guantanamo prison, President Obama has also stated that she was trying to develop a process that “doesn’t result in releasing people who are intent on blowing us up.” How does closing the maximum security prison that detains such vile people fit into this process? Is it then safe to assume that these detainees will be in a prison while waiting and during their trial somewhere else? If so, it will obviously have to be a local American prison that pales in comparison to the security of Guantanamo Bay.”

It breaks my heart when I think of any innocents locked away for an indeterminate amount of time.
I have no problem with letting actual terrorists sit in jail for an indeterminate time, but we don't even know if some of these people have done anything wrong. It reminds me of the Japanese detention camps. :(
What is your point? - sm

I'm giving my thoughts on Guantanamo, not playing the blame game. I know whose fault I believe it is, but that's not important now. I'm really tired of the way we keep jumping on each other here.
I already gave mine above. - Refresher (sm)

President Obama signed an executive order Monday that will create a formal system of indefinite detention for those held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, who continue to pose a significant threat to national security. The administration also said it will start new military commission trials for detainees there.

When President Barack Obama took office last year, he promised to “restore the standards of due process and the core constitutional values that have made this country great.” Toward that end, the president issued an executive order declaring that the extra-constitutional prison camp at Guantánamo “shall be closed as soon as practicable, and no later than one year from the date of this order.” Obama has failed ...

What Do You Think Of Stores Being Open On Thanksgiving? Nov 22, 2012I can see that people in the medical field are necessary, but I think retail people should not be forced to work on Thanksgiving to increase the big store profits.
Years ago, we had a huge conflict here and eventually voted on a city ordinance allowing stores to remain open on Sunday. At that time, I thought it was a good idea because I had to work Saturdays and needed the time to take care of business.

So, Did Everyone Hear Obama's Open Mic Night?Apr 16, 2011It was all over the news and all over the 'net. To me he sounded pretty egotistical in the one paragraph, but the comment that shocked me (highlighted in yellow) was later on in this article:
