article puts it, Iran's Supreme Leader is interested in "coming in from the cold," the economic isolation imposed on Iran by international sanctions.

This is great for the planet if it goes forward. Whether the Ayatollah will stop funding and arming religious terrorism... A big probably not?

(On a tiny personal note, I've been wishing to buy another, larger Persian run and would love to see the embargo lifted for that purely selfish reason.)

destroyed--along with as many of its 1.5 billion believers as it takes. We're not talking about being anti terrorists here, a few million around the planet, tens of thousands actually active, but full-blown Christian-versus-Islam hatred, holy war-degree hatred against Muslim grandfathers teaching Muslim children how to pray.

He understands these dangerous extremists in the GOP very well because he is their kind of person, although where they just shoot off toxic fumes, he is in a position to act, and does.

When you add to that that all wings of the GOP are unable to get anything done these days, one way or the other, of course he's not going to waste his time "talking" to it.

It makes no sense for him to interrupt the republicans while they are so intensely enmeshed in their traditional cannibalistic rituals we have come to expect during budget appropriation season. Nothing constructive can come out of the utter chaos Boehner pretends to preside over in terms of even remotely approaching fiscal realities such as the GOP ownership of the government shut-down drum beat and/or the more devastating deliberations over another debt ceiling/default debacle. The president is wise to keep his distance and let nature take its course there as the GOP sets the stage for a democratic takeover of the house in 2014.

Not a chance in the world. Assad spent all that time that Obama waffled moving his weapons around. My bet is he's only turning in a fraction of what he actually has and even if the UN could get into the country to check his numbers (which is next to impossible in the middle of a civil war) they would never find all of them. And Putin didn't turn on Assad - he simply made it possible for him to keep his weapons AND stay in power. Making Obama look weak in the eyes of the world was just icing on the cake to him.

not Obama, who made the deal. Obama went along with Putin's idea because Obama needed to wiggle out of the red line he made last year and this year and then switched back and forth as the undecided President often does.

Just watch some of his Youtube videos from 2006 through 2012 as both Senator and then President.

How some people believe Obama is a strong president are just gullible and not seeing the true facts.
