Yes! Ayatollah Khamenei hints at concessions - on nuclear issues, or as one

[ In Reply To ..]
article puts it, Iran's Supreme Leader is interested in "coming in from the cold," the economic isolation imposed on Iran by international sanctions.

This is great for the planet if it goes forward. Whether the Ayatollah will stop funding and arming religious terrorism... A big probably not?

(On a tiny personal note, I've been wishing to buy another, larger Persian run and would love to see the embargo lifted for that purely selfish reason.)

What a guy. He'll meet with terrorist leaders but not - Republicans.

Welll, let's not forget the hard right GOP is rabidly - anti-Islam and believes it must be

[ In Reply To ..]
destroyed--along with as many of its 1.5 billion believers as it takes. We're not talking about being anti terrorists here, a few million around the planet, tens of thousands actually active, but full-blown Christian-versus-Islam hatred, holy war-degree hatred against Muslim grandfathers teaching Muslim children how to pray.

He understands these dangerous extremists in the GOP very well because he is their kind of person, although where they just shoot off toxic fumes, he is in a position to act, and does.

When you add to that that all wings of the GOP are unable to get anything done these days, one way or the other, of course he's not going to waste his time "talking" to it.

That's just pure - garbage.

[ In Reply To ..]
More like he won't talk to the GOP because he sees them as the "enemy" (his words, not mine). The GOP is no more anti-Muslim than the dems are anti-Islam. Nice try to demonize the opposition, but it just won't fly.
I said the hard right, and they're anti everyone - they see as different. Don't misinterpret
[ In Reply To ..]
discussion of extremists in the GOP for discussion of the GOP. Sure, many conservatives have fled the GOP, but many are still left who are not extremist.

Please proceed, Mr Speaker. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
It makes no sense for him to interrupt the republicans while they are so intensely enmeshed in their traditional cannibalistic rituals we have come to expect during budget appropriation season. Nothing constructive can come out of the utter chaos Boehner pretends to preside over in terms of even remotely approaching fiscal realities such as the GOP ownership of the government shut-down drum beat and/or the more devastating deliberations over another debt ceiling/default debacle. The president is wise to keep his distance and let nature take its course there as the GOP sets the stage for a democratic takeover of the house in 2014.

of note, Iran WANTS to talk with Obama - -- talk to your people if it bothers you

[ In Reply To ..]

They know he's a pushover. - nm

[ In Reply To ..]
'
then republicans should have no problem - right?
[ In Reply To ..]
I guess your assessment makes Republicans weaker and more scared of Obama than Iran. Thanks for that clarification.

Of course they do. They know what a weakling he is. - No surprise there.

[ In Reply To ..]
nm
if he's so weak, what are republicans afraid of? - please. surprise me.
[ In Reply To ..]
Yeah. Just ask Assad who's scrambling to get his - chemical weapons inventory
[ In Reply To ..]
ready to submit to the UN after the weakling threatened military force and Syria's #1 BFF turned 180 on them after Putin decided he wanted to get his share of the credit. I'm wondering which president Putin called first (Rouhani or Assad) after he decided to jump Syria's ship in an effort to duck a proxy military conflict. If only the fly on the wall could speak.
You really think he's going to give up - everything?
[ In Reply To ..]
Not a chance in the world. Assad spent all that time that Obama waffled moving his weapons around. My bet is he's only turning in a fraction of what he actually has and even if the UN could get into the country to check his numbers (which is next to impossible in the middle of a civil war) they would never find all of them. And Putin didn't turn on Assad - he simply made it possible for him to keep his weapons AND stay in power. Making Obama look weak in the eyes of the world was just icing on the cake to him.
NOBODY thinks that. BTW, he just submitted - the required initial inventory.
[ In Reply To ..]
So things are moving along. It would also be foolishly native to think we all won't be checking his list against our own--after decades of satellite and other monitoring of what Syria's been manufacturing and stockpiling.
You're really blind in that assumption. It was Putin, - Truthhurts
[ In Reply To ..]
not Obama, who made the deal. Obama went along with Putin's idea because Obama needed to wiggle out of the red line he made last year and this year and then switched back and forth as the undecided President often does.

Just watch some of his Youtube videos from 2006 through 2012 as both Senator and then President.

How some people believe Obama is a strong president are just gullible and not seeing the true facts.

So, Did Everyone Hear Obama's Open Mic Night?Apr 16, 2011
It was all over the news and all over the 'net. The words weren't that newsworthy, but their delivery had the White House a little ...

By dropping charges against major arms targets, the administration infuriated Justice Department officials — and undermined its own counterproliferation task forces. the Obama administration prevented multiple federal agencies from thwarting Iranian-backed terrorist organizations. The Iran deal shields Iranian-backed terrorists from prosecution. Obama Kept Military Out Of The Loop On Cash Payments To Iran. Sep 23, 2016
military officials to weigh in on his administration's decision in January to send $400 million in cash to Iran. After all, Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, and terrorists prefer cash to wire payments because it's so difficult to track. But Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry did not consult Secretary of Defense Ash Carter or the Chairman of the Jo ...

Obama Stoops To Begging Iran On Behalf Of AmericansMar 23, 2015
ran: Just when we thought the president couldn't stoop any lower, he compares American opponents of a bad nuclear deal to Iran's hardcore Islamists — and begs Iranians to back their terrorist oppressors. Addressing the people of an enemy power is not unprecedented for a U.S. president; President Nixon did it in a 1972 broadcast from the Kremlin as a naive detente advanced, which Ronald Reagan undid in the succeeding decade.
