Does Texas need Open Carry? NO

Posted: May 18, 2015

Definitely need more guns circulating, freely and easily...just ask the family that stopped at Twin Peaks for lunch.

being able to protect themselves, you're doing an injustice to them.

Criminals don't give 2 hoots about human life. They get their weapons by illegal means and they get them for one reason, to create robbery, havoc, and murder, no other reason. You should know that by now. Guns are stolen from legal owners and serial numbers filed off so they are untraceable. Legal gun owners in my state have to report their guns stolen within 24 hours or face consequences.

What happened in TX is a criminal act. The police were watching. Evidently, they didn't respond quickly enough or didn't have enough manpower. Too bad they didn't have SWAT vehicles and SWAT teams on standby.

Maybe some of the law-abiding citizens can - soon be armed so they

be involved in the shootout with the criminal bikers.

So, if we had less legal guns available for thieves to steal and file off numbers there would be less illegal guns out there, right?

Maybe if the NRA didn't want to pump their business so much, this dangerous "hobby" would slow down and we could have some peace. Instead, they have the pockets of politicians making noise on the basis of freedoms and rights to make BIG bucks off the nations gullibility.

Guns would be obtained by other means if less legal guns were available. - SM

There is always a way to obtain contraband. Always.

No, less guns available here doesn't mean less - Truthhurts

illegal guns. It would mean more illegal guns. They can be obtained from other countries and smuggled into the U.S. Criminal elements will always be around and no law will stop them. It works both ways for the gun smuggling. and it just doesn't stop.

BTW, taking away guns would mean taking another freedom away and before you know it, we would no longer have a Constitution. I say this because I've read so many, many people that don't realize some of the items they wish for means losing another Article from what our country was built on and that's crazy.

Every country with a democratic government has a Constitution but our country seems to be the only one where certain articles and amendments are being "attacked." Without the backbone of this country, where would we be? What kind of country would we be? Would we be like Cuba? Russia? China? The Middle East?

The only thing that stops us from totally changing is the people who fight to keep us free; be it police, military, and politicians. Yeah, even though politicians are selfish, they still fight to keep our constitutional rights. :)

Who said anything about concealed carry? - sm

The OP particularly states "Open Carry." You don't have to openly carry a gun to be able to protect yourself.

I live in Texas, have lots and lots of registered guns and know how to use them. I certainly don't need to carry them openly to protect myself.

Just saying.

YES, they do - sm

Everything Truthhurts has written is true. Just because you don't want a gun, doesn't mean you can take away the right of other citizens. Not all people with guns commit crimes. You do know that don't you?

Take away the rights of the citizens including guns? That happened in Germany and look what happened to the people there.

Texas Rolling BlackoutsFeb 03, 2011
I'm on the east coast, and the majority of us use natural gas or propane for heat, so we've never experienced rolling blackouts in the winter.  This may sound like a stupid question, but why are Texans experiencing the blackouts?  Do the majority of businesses use electric heat?  Why would they be using more electricy now than when it's 120 degrees in the summer?  (hence, my stupid question)  I heard they had to buy some power from Mexico.  ...
