What are Republicans afraid of if every eligible American

Why are they going to such great lengths to limit voters' ability to cast their vote for their chosen candidate--enacting voter I.D. laws in some states and limiting early voting hours, specifically in Ohio, so that they eliminate the weekend time that would be the most convenient to some urban voters.
I thought every patriotic American wants ALL of their fellow Americans to be able to exercise this very basic right. I believe they're afraid that if every eligible voter in America casts a vote, the majority would not be for Romney.

Whether or not voter ID tactics work, it is definitely arousing the base, resulting in citizen awareness.
I reside in a swing/voter fraud "challenged"/get rid of early voting state, and canvassing in my community before the last primary was focused on voter registration and voter ID education. Of course it will continue.
Many citizens who don't have access to a lot of information resources had no idea they might not be able to vote, and many who weren't even registered did register.
This campaign to disenfranchise voters may just have the opposite effect.
Just one more thing. I think having a government-issued ID is a legit confirmation of citizenship and right to vote, but if that is going to be the standard requirement, it should not be at the financial liability of any citizen.

Every election the democrats are the ones who hold back legitimate voters. Suppress the counties that are republican and focus on the democrat counties. That is their MO. Republicans are always the ones pushing for every legitimate American Citizens to vote AND making sure the military and other areas that are conservative's vote count. But then we have the democrats who try and get illegals to vote, prisoners, all while excluding the military and other conservative areas.
I don't buy the limiting voting hours. Sorry, just don't buy it.

Do you realize that every state has a canvasing board or supervisor of elections who is charged BY LAW with the duty of validating all registered voters, counting overseas votes, military votes, absentee votes, validating former law-breakers' right to vote, keeping up with snow birds, and purging deaths whether reported or not? Not to mention they constantly surveil returned mail to verify proper residency.
This is what they do for a living every day. I don't think it is prudent to minimize, disregard, or assume to know everything about a job you've never done.
What don't you buy about voting hours? How does it hurt you?

Voter ID laws are there so that they know that the person is actually alive, is not a cartoon character, and is a CITIZEN OF THIS COUNTRY! If you meet that criteria, then you may vote.

It is against the law to charge people to vote and that is essentially what requiring this type of ID is. There are actually people who go through life without one, people who don't/can't borrow money, fly, have credit cards, or drink.
And, by the way, the supervisor of elections or equivalent does verify citizenship when a citizen registers to vote.
