1. It's not all about Trump per se. Trump is the "face" of liberal rage and bewilderment over something much larger - namely, the nearly nationwide rejection of radical liberalism that they've experienced over the last several election cycles (Obama's reelection notwithstanding). In state after state, the radical left has lost ground.
2. In the context of #1, one critical consequence of this rejection is that they have lost the opportunity to tilt the Supreme Court (and lower federal courts) even further to the left. There will be at least one appointment coming up, and probably one or even two more.
3. Phony "fear" is being ginned up on the basis of false narratives by the leaders of certain ethnic communities. These "leaders" do this because they know that influence is slipping from their grasp and they're desperately trying to remain relevant.
4. Trump won't play ball with or be influenced by the liberals' mouthpiece, the MSM. Yet more loss of ground.
5. Liberals fear that Trump will rip a page out of Obama's book and govern like an emperor. There may be something to this, but if so, they have nothing to complain about because they liked it plenty good when "their emperor" was on the throne.
6. Liberals fear that the rules they made to benefit themselves in Congress will now be used by conservatives for their benefit. Again, this is a pretty fair bet, and again, they have nothing to complain about because they liked those rules plenty good when they held the gavel.
7. Liberals are experiencing the scorn of average rational people in Middletown USA. The reason that most ardent supporters of liberalism live mainly out on the margins of mainstream society is because liberalism has made itself a movement of tiny "special" segments of society to the exclusion - and even sometimes the detriment - of society as a whole.
8. Liberals are now in the Denial and Anger stages. It's time for Acceptance.
It isn't just Trump. It's the rejection and repudiation on so many different levels, and perhaps in the mind of some of the more intellectually honest liberals, the beginnings of the faint suspicion that maybe they should have moderated their positions somewhat. Any liberals who dare to voice such a thought, however, will be killed and eaten by the others in the camp.
