The party of intolerance and violence

Oh yeah, they are so tolerant, and non-violent.  Mmmm-hmmmm

I would never throw an entire party under the bus because of the actions of a few individuals. But this goes beyond that: What enables you to assume that these obnoxious little tweets came from representatives of any party at all? Why do accusations like this work for you?

oh brother - you think it was the republicans that voted for him - that wrote it? sheesh!

You should know by now that there are rude, stupid, drive-by posters out there that get a kick out of saying inflammatory, ugly, stupid things. THEY are responsible for these actions - not democrats, not republicans, not Catholics, not mobsters - just stupid, ignorant people.
Thank you I do agree (see message) - Poster you replied to

I do agree with you that there are stupid people in all parties. I can assure you though that usually people who vote for the guy are not going to be writing that garbage. I'll remember to copy your post the next time republicans are blamed for something.

To say the least, no matter where it comes from. I was really shocked to see those comments (some brutal comments on CNN, too), and when I first read them, I thought I read it wrong. Pretty said that anyone would say those things, and sadder still that there are not many, many more stepping out to speak against it.

There are now several states that are planning to go ahead with becoming right to work states, not to mention the rep and senate races coming up. And I have a feeling that the presidential race is not near as nasty as it's going to get. Feelings run high on both sides, which gives the extremists the perfect opportunity.

If everyone did what they were supposed to meaning: If employers treated people as they wanted to be treated, if employees did not steal/cheat from employers, and ALL were accountable the entire work atmosphere would be different. I have been on both sides, business owner and employee, union member and nonunion. What I routinely saw were the people with virtually no qualifications, education, work ethic, no desire to learn or improve, always late or calling off, constantly complaining and whining demanded the most and felt they were "entitled" because they had breath. Those that showed responsibiity, worked their shifts/hours without all the drama are the ones that really made out financially and continually looked for ways to improve their circumstances. We live in a right to work state and I was happy to get rid of the dead wood and further support the real workers with more cash and benefits.
you really missed the point - ctc

You obviously are attached to making this a a partisan issue, so have at it. And, if you want to copy my post "the next time republicans are blamed for something" - feel free. I will be right there along with you should some dopey lib blame an entire party for the actions of a handful of idiots.

extremes - tpe

[ In Reply To ..]
Some (not specifically you) are very quick to throw the entire Tea Party under the bus for a few nut cases. Just check the archives on this board.

Every party has their extreme idiots. These folks, however, sound like they are making direct threats and should be dealt with by the authorities. No one said they know for sure they are dems, but how in the world could they be anything but? It's not rocket science, it's logic. What do you think their motivation is, if not political?

This reminds me of when the TP - first emerged

[ In Reply To ..]
Not trying to get off subject, but would like to use this as an example to make my point. One aspect of my political activism includes taking surveys as a way to voice opinion. When the TP first emerged and during the initial stages of its evolution, those surveys often asked the broad generic question, "Do you support the Tea Party?" Because the question contained no specifics about policy, ideology or methods of strategy, my response was always affirmative.

There is virtually nothing about their platforms that I agree with, but I do support their right to organize their party, run candidates and become part of the political landscape. After all, their long-term survival depends on that fact that they represent a certain segment of the population (large or small) in the political process. Now that they have been around for a while, my opposition to them has deepened considerably which in turn has motivated me to become more involved in the participating in the overall process. At times, I wish they would simply go away. However, I would still answer that question the same way today as I did 2-3 yeaars ago.

"Yes," I support the TP's rights and recognize their legitimate status, with only one exception....when their fringe elements turn to violence, threats and criminal acts, such as the case of anti-abortion activists who vandalize clinic facilities, stalk patients, staff and MDs or, worse still, resort to assassination as part of their crusade. It’s worth mentioning here that we can also find unprecedented numbers of direct threats on President Obama’s life and that of his wife and family scattered across the blogosphere. Though I wish more party members and leaders would step up to publicly condemn such actions, I do not think these extremists represent, nor do they have the approval of the party-at-large.

These Twitter thugs are no different. Within the political arena, I think Scott Walker is despicable, much in the same way many cons think Obama is. IMO, he has been an extremely divisive force, is a sleazy weasel of a governor who has used highly questionable tactics, and currently is the target of a criminal investigation. That's politics. Scott Walker is also a fellow American who is doing what he believes in and, with the support of his party (and billionaire donors), has successfully retained his seat. He is somebody's son, brother, husband, father, friend and neighbor, and is entitled to the highest level of protection the law can afford in the face of these deplorable threats.

Just as in the case of the abortion extremists, the ignorance that lays behind these so-called “passionate" sentiments go way beyond misguided extremism. They are criminal acts that severely damage the credibility of their political parties, threaten our security as a People and undermine the integrity of our political process. Our state and federal laws view such threats against the President as an act of treason. I think any threat against any elected representative should be treated as such, and look forward to seeing these jerks apprehended to face their due process.
I agree with you on Walker - Smarmy guy

I remember back when he was first elected and submitted his budget it was brought to light that he put in a clause allowing him to sell the state power plants to private entities with no-bid contracts. Thank goodness the Dem governor vetoed that little scam.
===
Gov. Scott Walker is proposing changes that would allow the state to sell the power plants that heat and cool university campuses and prisons to a private company.

A proposal to sell the state’s heating, cooling and wastewater treatment facilities was inserted into the 2005-’07 budget by Republican state Rep. Scott Jensen.

That proposal would have required six different state agencies to sell or contract with a private entity to operate them, resulting in the outsourcing of 271 state government positions. That bill was later vetoed by Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle.

The new proposal would empower the state Secretary of Administration to the 37 heating, cooling and power plants, with the net proceeds after retiring the debt service for the facilities going into the budget adjustment fund, said Darrin Renner, an analyst at the Legislative Fiscal Bureau.

It’s unclear what the market value of the plants would be today. The Fiscal Bureau analyzed the facilities in 2005 and estimated the value of the 34 plants at $235.9 million, offset by $83.9 million in debt.

The Department of Administration operates 37 heating, cooling and power plants, including 14 at University of Wisconsin campuses, 13 at Department of Corrections facilities, five at Department of Health Services facilities and five at other agency facilities.

Under the bill, a utility that buys any of the plants would not have to seek state Public Service Commission approval of either the sale or an agreement to operate the plants.
======

Mr. Budget-conscious also pulled the plug on a deal that would have hurt his buddies in the coal business (Koch brothers) but saved taxpayers $75 million.
=====
The Doyle administration planned to replace coal with a combination of natural gas and biomass, but the Walker administration last month pulled the plug on the biomass portion of the project. That would result in net savings for taxpayers of about $75 million, according to the Department of Administration.
Pretty sure Walker's no-bid shenanigans are part of - John Doe and federal probes
[ In Reply To ..]
I've will start a new thread on this subject shortly (Two-ton elephant roams halls in WI governor's mansion). It is a very thorough, if not exhaustive informational and analytical piece. Trust me. It's well worth the effort to slog through it. I am hopeful the state and federal probes will come to an expedient conclusion, now that the recall vote is behind us. In thde long run, I don't think the gov is going to be able to pull rank and prolong his stall tactics on this one much longer.

How is that different from posters on this board - sm
