Twelve or 15 years of college, then all those student loans to repay. They worked so hard! To have CommieCare destroy everything.

Today's residents must be REALLY P.O.ed.

I hope they can take their livelihood off the continent so they can provide for their families.

We are LOSING all that talent!!

My cardiologist/neighbor moved here to the Northwest. He is an internist and took a job here with his wife and 2 small young kids. His wife was an OB-GYN, but she quit her practice after being delivering babies for 2 years. She had enough being a doctor and wanted to stay home and raise her 2 young boys. Gee, years of schooling down the drain.

Two years after living here, he hated his job and could not handle what the company/hospital did to him. They cut his pay by 20% and decided to give him no bonus. They even changed his contract on him. He was so upset that he just quit and gave them a 2-month notice. He said it was not worth getting a lawyer and fighting over his contract and staying with the job he hated.

For 2 months he looked for a new job (a doctor) and there were only 4 cardiologist positions opened, 1 in the south, 2 in the Midwest and 1 in the Southwest which he refused to move to Arizona because of the heat.

He took one of the jobs in Midwest and in a few weeks, they are now gone. A total of 2-1/2 months and he was out of here. He was so upset and wished to God he went to school for pharmacy. He is so upset and hurt that he decided on this profession. He feels like he just wasted his schooling and time and still has school loans. They were thankful they rented a house and did not purchase which is why it was easy for them to just pick up and leave. Hopefully it will work out for them, but he is not too happy right now and he did get into the profession for the money and prestige, but now he is finding out that is not the case anymore and quite a few are quitting or not going into the field of becoming doctors. Looks like pharmacy or becoming a dentist is the new field.

That has nothing to do with healthcare reform - its just - hospital CEO greed, been around for years. nm

Most docs I know are waiting to see and sitting tight and watching if the health care bill goes through. It all has to do with government. Since the bill is now signed into law, we shall see now what happens. Used to be where you could find jobs all over the place for doctors. Just like nursing. Back then, they were underpaid and not treated right and who the heck wanted to go into that profession and now look at it? A lot of people are wanting to get into the field and nursing schools are on 3 year waiting lists. YOU DO NOT SEE THAT WITH DOCTORS!

Some docs are retiring early and staying right where they are at and waiting a couple of years and then retire early. While young ones will not get into this profession. Most California docs will not see Medicare patients and it takes months for a Medicare patient to get a doctor's appointment and now more will be on Medicare with this new health care bill? We cannot even take care of the patients before Obama health care. Good Luck!

the students who score LOWEST on their national college entrance exams are forced to become doctors because the training is much harder and the reward no greater than other college careers so no one voluntarily wants to study medicine. An interesting system. This was 20 yrs ago, don't know about these days.

I'm wondering if anyone out there can give me an idea of something. I work for a hospital. The judge would not let them take him him, ruled against. They put him in Hospice, took off his oxygen and he died. I simply cannot understand why these parents had to go through a court instead of coming straight to the USA when there was still some time to have tried the treatment.
