"The Great War of Out Time" Michael Morell spent 33 years

director for a time, and finishing a distinguished career as the Agency's Deputy Director.
There are few truly "must read" books out there, but along with Lawrence Wright's The Looming Tower, Morell's new The Great War of Our Time is one of them. Combine Wright's and Morell's books and you have a history of the rise of Islamist fanaticism vis-a-vis the United States from the end of World War II to the present. Everyone running for president should read both books, but it is doubtful that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will, because the former book indicts her husband and the latter herself........
This is not a book for partisans (Presidents Bush and Obama both come in for praise and criticism) but one for future decision makers. It is also one for political writers.
I did not expect such bluntness from so high ranking a former official, but this is exactly the same answer I have received off the record from four other very senior, very experienced decision makers in the long war. The fact is clear that Clinton acted with reckless disregard for the security of the nation she was sworn to serve.
The existence of the server on its own should be a disqualifying revelation, and the cover-up of its contents in whole or in part the trigger for a deep investigation into what has been compromised or potentially compromised. No, I do not trust her or her lawyers to have acted from the national interest when they "wiped it down." How could any reasonable person trust her when the setting up of the server was itself a breach of trust?
Mr. Morell's book is a great public service. So too was his candid assessment of what Clinton likely did throughout her tenure, which was provide our nation's enemies with a backdoor, full view of what the United States was planning and doing across all theaters of all conflicts at all times.

what any Democrat politician does, how crooked, reckless, irresponsible, or damaging they are to our nation as long as they are hurting or harming everyone else not toeing the party line or supporting the dark agendas.
This became the reality once the Democrat Party became a McGovernite Party. Once the far left took over their party, there is really nothing so depraved that they won't support.
Lois Lerner email scandal, who cares. IRS scandal, who cares. Benghazi, who cares. And on, and on, and on.
I really don't care about the right-wing propaganda machine's controversy of the day. - sm

Seriously? Not a new phenomenon to see the right-wing conspiracy crowd perplexed as to why the rest of the world has not bought "all in" to the daily brainwashing propaganda they get from Fox News, Breitbart, and others selling the gullible masses on "the dark agendas."
When you watch the right-wing media propaganda machine in action, it never ceases to amaze just how deftly they play into the mindset of the gullible masses and tap into their audience's fears and persecution mindset, and they know exactly what buttons to push for that audience. The right-wing propaganda machine constantly strokes that theme telling their audience they are part of the special crowd that knows the truth, and their carefully crafted conspiracy theories allow the uninformed and the misinformed to think they're totally "in the know" and that only they know the "truth." The real truth is that the right-wing media propagandist knows they're afraid and feeling attacked. Their audience is afraid of what they don't know and feels like they're being persecuted, and the right-wing media propaganda machine tells them that they will keep them informed with the "truth," and then they spin the conspiracy theories. It's so much easier to believe a conspiracy theory than it is to deal with a complex political truth or to explain the complexities of the economy. The propaganda machine breaks down complicated and complex issues into scandals that are so much easier to buy into than the complicated truth. Humans have a proclivity to want simple answers to life's complex problems, and the conspiracy theories are a perfect and easy intellectual shortcut. A fabricated conspiracy theory based loosely on truth gives the intellectually lazy and gullible masses a much simpler explanation along with a scapegoat to blame.
So the right-wing propaganda machine cranks out the conspiracy theories and the gullible believe their every word and accuse the rest of us as having "heads in the sand" and "eyes closed" while they feel intellectually superior for buying into the conspiracy theories. What they don't realize is that they've got it exactly backwards. Life is complicated. Demonizing a group of people to explain everything is intellectually lazy. Separating everything into neat little boxes and slapping a label on it is intellectually lazy but oh so much easier on the cranium.
So to them, the 4 Americans killed in Benghazi is a scandal while the thousands killed here on American soil on 9/11 are no big deal. Where was the outrage for 3,000 dead Americans on 9/11? OMG, can you imagine the Fox News outrage if the events of 9/11 had happened during the presidency of Al Gore instead of George W. Bush? The propaganda machine would have been on overdrive with the conspiracy theories.
Pay no attention to the fact that the right-wing propaganda machine's made up events regarding Benghazi have been debunked now multiple times and several reports are out there for the reading, just label those as part of the conspiracy and keep up the witch hunt. Pay no attention to the facts in evidence that don't fit your conspiracy theory and made up propaganda false narrative.
This poster wrote: "Lois Lerner email scandal, who cares. IRS scandal, who cares. Benghazi, who cares. And on, and on, and on."
I can actually answer that: The right-wing propaganda machine cares since it is their carefully crafted load of propaganda dished out daily. They need you to believe in order to keep you fighting for their right-wing agenda.
Pardon liberals for not buying into the brainwashing, but it's just that we're not so easily led by sound bytes and quotes taken out of context and repeated back over and over like trained parrots.

We care, but our 1st question to the CIA author on his book on 9/11/war wouldn't be about - Hillary ~ Julia Sugarbaker
[ In Reply To ..]
Talk about deflection, she wasn't even secretary of state yet!
Our first question would instead would be why (as the bipartisan senate investigation concluded DID happen) did the CIA, the FBI and George Bush ignore all of the the yellow-to-red alert threats issued the spring/summer of 2001 up until 9/11? And what steps they have taken to correct such a huge security lapse that allowed thousands of innocent civilians to be killed?
Hillary's email security lapse/human error/poor judgment seems pretty minor in comparison, then, doesn't it?
"It's like the cast of Glee is running the country." - LOL

I don't even watch "Glee." Is that supposed to be some kind of serious insult or something?
I'm guessing Cons' idea of a proper administration would be the cast of Duck Dynasty and the Palins and that wholesome Duggar family running the country.
I can't stop laughing now.
The big bombshell is that Morell thinks major governments around the world have - a full copy of everything that is on email

server.
The calculation anyone who wants to ruin Hillary is doing right now is deciding whether they want to ruin her for the primaries or the general, and what way will have the greatest impact. Based on what we've seen so far, her primary voters do NOT care if she's a crooked scumbag. So, don't look for anyone to spring this anytime very soon.
The ironic thing is that her emails on her private server...sm - Alice
[ In Reply To ..]
were possibly more secure than emails on the government server. Former president Clinton's and Chelsea's emails were also on that server.
Everyone knows what a private server is, right? People set them up just for the purpose of security rather than using a public server like Verizon or aol.
Keep in mind the fact that the emails were released by the - sender. At some point,
[ In Reply To ..]
there will be disastrous emails released by the receivers.
Do conservatives realize it wasn't Hillary's first trip to the inner circle? - LOL
[ In Reply To ..]
She knew the emails would have to be turned over. It wasn't her first trip to the rodeo. LOL.
Why are people so sure there's some smoking gun? There were 13 embassy attacks during the Bush Administration with around 60+ deaths, some of them at the same embassies that had already been attacked. Oh, where was the right-wing outrage then?
The right-wing propaganda machine has gone into overdrive to indict Obama and Hillary for something that happened halfway around the world as if the administration sanctioned it. I think they are just wishful thinking that there's something devious going on when there's just NOT. It's just so much easier to buy into all the sinister conspiracy theories than the actual truth that governing the entire world is a complicated thing and sometimes things like Benghazi happen.
Pay no attention to the 13 embassy attacks during the Bush Administration, but isn't that Benghazi thing outrageous and criminal? That selective outrage will give your agenda away every single time. Pitiful.
Probably be an October surprise. There - always is. nm

The 1st question to the CIA author on a book on 9/11/the war (caused in part by THEIR intel failure) - is HILLARY's lax security? Julia Sugarbaker
[ In Reply To ..]
That's not a partisan question to ask the author or deflection at all, no. She wasn't even secretary of state yet?
Hillary's private email server did not cause the death of thousands of our GI's in a misdirected war towards a country that never had WMD in the first place, partly due to YOUR poor/false intel, Mr. CIA big shot.
Considering the bipartisan Senate concluded "intel failure", was the cause of that war, my first nor biggest question to the former CIA author of the book wouldn't be about Hillary, it'd be:
"Dude - what the heck happened to YOUR intel and security that you ignored threats the entire spring and summer of 2001 before 9/11?"
"And what steps has the CIA taken since, to correct YOUR security lapses and false intel?"
Hillary's email security/human error/poor judgment seems pretty minor in comparison.
Hugh Hewitt conservative partisan hack opinion post. - Right-wing rhetoric
[ In Reply To ..]
What a load of partisan drivel.
Michael Morrell has also admitted that the Bush Administration took the CIA intelligence and embellished it to make their case for war in Iraq. He pretty much spells it out how the Bush Administration lied the United States into war.
I guess Hugh Hewitt must have missed that chapter or maybe he's busy now writing another opinion covering that nugget of truth in Morrell's book? LOL.
I listened the interview, Hewitt was fair and seemed to treat him - seriously. NM
