It is there policies, inexperience, track records, viewpoints, politics that are disgusting. Frankly, I think the clowns will send then packing.

All sort of a nonissue as they don't stand a minute chance of nomination. Just a waste of money.
So it's not racist then? A little consistency - would be nice. I'm not fan of

either, bus she would make a very intriguing contrast to Hillary. A woman who actually ACHIEVED some notable things in her life, as opposed to one who just hitched her wagon to the charming guy who was going places, and then sat back to collect her reparations for looking the other way at his years of indiscretion.

She gets very little media coverage because the press is afraid that she’ll be harder to ridicule and crush than was their former female target, Sarah Palin. But I’ll bet they start going after her now, because she’s seen as s threat to Hillary. War on Women?
I've seen a lot written about her failure at HP - sm

Perhaps confusion abounds here.

All remarks about President Obama are not racist.
There have been a lot of racist remarks about President Obama.

I haven't really heard any racist remarks about Carson. Certain elements of the conservative right have been the ones to lash out over race with President Obama. I think they are sitting back trying to figure out what to do with this one. They are being silent, but in the end they will still be racist.

Race is probably the only reason I would even consider it amusing/interesting to see Carson nominated. I would love to see the conservative right try to figure out how to support and put racism aside. It might turn out to be a real step forward. The only step forward in that situation, but a step forward nonetheless.
I've read a lot about Hillary's failures, - Whitewater, Benghazi,

Just like “pro-life” has been changed to “anti-choice” by liberals.
It's only racist/sexist if the focus becomes a candidate's race and gender - rather than content of their character
[ In Reply To ..]
Until this current sub-thread (beginning above?) no one HAD mentioned the candidates' race or gender, which leaves whomever first introduced the candidates' race and gender to the thread suspect.

Because technically, regardless of whether you vote FOR or AGAINST Ben or Barack or Hillary or Carly, if race or gender plays a factor into decision-making and is brought up rather than what that candidate stands for, it could be construed as racism and sexism, sometimes reverse racism and sexism.

As for Sarah Palin, I don't care for her and she scares me, to be honest, but I also almost felt sorry for her, I thought she was treated viciously in ways we wouldn't treat male candidates, and mostly by other women. But then I believe our society is tougher on women candidates than men in general.

However, as mean as women can be to other women, it is usually not a woman who says things like they "should be at home in the kitchen and watching their kids" or they should "be more cuddly", which have both been said to both Sarah and Hillary.

Unfortunately, female candidates are going to get more criticism than male candidates, from both men and women, because they will be critiqued more for irrelevant aspects of their candidacy, and where they stand on reproductive issues will be overly focused on, too.
But it's liberals that always accuse you of being - a racist even tthough it's
[ In Reply To ..]
the policy that's being questioned.

It is all about liberalism. That's why it's okay to criticize a black or female conservative. They are held to a different standard.
I try to avoid using "always/never" myself but sometimes that's true - Comments like this one (see link) don't help
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't always succeed, but I try to avoid "always/never" statements anymore because it has almost "always" bitten me in the backside later:)

Judging by the time stamp, this was actually the first comment mentioning race and gender in this thread today, and I personally struggled to see why race and gender were even mentioned when no one else did. I'm not saying it's a "bad" or "good" comment, I'm just saying I struggled to see where their race or gender were relevant when no one had mentioned it:

http://general.mtstars.com/414061.html

Unfortunately, even if you're right and ALL liberals are accusing ALL conservatives of being racist, conservatives introducing race and gender to the conversation in that manner, when no one else had mentioned race and gender, does NOT help conservatives' case that they're not racist, see what I mean?

I lean left often, but not always, and I personally know that not ALL conservatives are ALWAYS racist, SOME are. However, it has also been my personal experience that in this day and age, the majority of racists are typically found on the conservative end of the spectrum rather than liberal end, at least where I live (and in using the modern-day definitions of "liberal/conservative." Not always, but the majority of racists are self-proclaimed "conservatives" where I live.

So if conservatives want to prove they are NOT racist and that this is an unfair stereotype of themselves, then they need to do a lot better than opening debate by focusing on their own candidates' race or gender or gently confronting other conservatives that do.

However, none of that was the main point in my comment. My point was (and I edited just now to make it clearer), if you vote either for or against someone BECAUSE of race or gender, or that largely plays into your decision making, you could technically be considered racist or sexist (or reverse racist or sexist)

The idea is supposed to be about being color blind and gender blind, just something to think about. Not saying I've never been guilty of cheering louder for someone because of these aspects myself, but it really shouldn't be the societal goal, that anyone should have an extra cheering section based on race or gender, IMO.
The point being made - was simple
[ In Reply To ..]
any criticism of policy of our current president is quickly deemed racial since day one - it is one-sided - when there is criticism of President Bush's policies - does anyone ever scream racism - HE'S WHITE!!!! of course not - so one can see why the constant bringing up of President Obama's race gets old after awhile - we should be able to criticize the man's policies without being accused of being racist.....
Ok, but my point was focusing on the race of one's own party candidates instead of content - doesn't help disprove the racist stereotype
[ In Reply To ..]
It may have been that conservative commenter's intent to discuss how they perceive there's a double-standard when it comes to racism between liberals and conservatives on this forum, but considering no one was discussing candidate race or gender when that comment came in, focusing on nothing BUT their own candidates' race and gender didn't exactly help disprove the racist stereotype.

In fact, it may have further helped along the stereotype that conservatives can't see past race and gender except when they find them 'useful'.(As I said above, I know that's not ALWAYS true, but comments like that don't help, just sayin.)

If conservatives want to talk about how they feel there's a double-standard on race discussion, here, I'm sure we all could reasonably, but perhaps it's all in the approach and might it be better received if its own new post rather than suddenly tying it to threads about other aspects of the candidates than race/gender?

Just a suggestion to test the theories, NOT saying anyone 'should' do anything, I hope that's clear.
You hit the nail on the head! - NM

Here's another really simple point. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
People really should be able to criticize the man's policies without being falsely accused, but the problem is that a lot of conservatives aren't exactly criticizing his policies; they're criticizing Obama and the First Lady personally with unflattering words regarding their character and carrying signs that are not exactly flattering toward their heritage.

Conservative campaigning lately has devolved into throwing red meat to their base and is approximately 85% character assassination and 15% discussion of actual issues. Conservative candidates are not content these days to limit their criticism to the candidates themselves, and conservatives lately have taken to overt criticism of a candidate's voters. Liberals think it is rather odd to criticize the very voters you will need to win the White House, but their base loves the red meat and so the candidates and their surrogates keep throwing it. Liberals think conservatives' criticism of voters, for instance like Romney and his "47%" comment, and then right-wing media piling on of a candidate's voters is politically ignorant.

I voted for Barack Obama and was accused of doing so to absolve my white guilt, and a family member who voted for Obama was accused of voting for him merely because he was black like the candidate, and this happens a lot and over and over and over. Having recently expressed my support for Hillary Clinton, I have now been accused by conservatives as being gender biased. So liberals too have had their fill of name calling. I think the difference between liberals and conservatives on this issue is that most liberals generally don't care what names conservatives are calling them, but conservatives seem to enjoy constantly bringing up this issue and seem to feel that they somehow alone are being unfairly persecuted. It would be great if conservatives would realize that liberals are being called these things too, especially since conservative candidates like Romney and conservative talking media heads like Rush Limbaugh and conservative surrogates and pundits have taken to calling liberal voters the same things.

Perhaps when conservatives start focusing on issues instead of the overt character assassination of candidates and their voters and get back to discussing real political issues, maybe then perhaps this type ridiculousness will stop, but as long as I'm being accused of racism for voting for a black man and as long as I'm accused of gender bias for voting for a woman, I have my doubts that anything is going to change on either side.

Since I feel there is a large element of conservative voters who thrive on the feeling that they alone are being singled out, I doubt if their conservative leaders and talking heads and pundits will stop the cycle that feeds this; they will fan the flames and keep it up in order to keep their base angry, agitated, and feeling persecuted. In the process, they don't seem to realize that they're alienating everyone else.

I didn't leave the GOP; the GOP left me.

that, particularly won't spend a powerful emotion like hate on the likes of hypocrite Dr. Ben "barium enema" Carson (who demonizes every program he and his single mother took full advantage of) and the likes of hypocrite Canadian born Rafael Eduardo Cruz who opposes immigration reform (go figure) and who shut down the government over funding of Obamacare and then later talked about signing up.

If it makes people feel better to call liberals names, they could at least be factual with the name calling. Liberals reserve hate for persons of consequence, and Carson and Cruz are inconsequential and irrelevant.

Cruz and Carson merit pity and laughter and not a thing beyond that. LOL.

What a joke. She is so tech savvy that she didn't buy the domain name, even after what happened to Cruz. Apparently all those millions can't buy you any common sense or technical savvy. Carly is yet another candidate jumping into the clown car who has zero chance of winning the nomination. Why are there going to be two dozen GOP candidates? I call it the Sarah Palin Blueprint. Right-wing voters are so easily parted with their money that there will be no shortage whatsoever of candidates from the Fox "News" infotainment money machine who will run for president, crank out books, and make millions.

They're following the blueprint of Stupid Sarah, and in the immortal words of Sarah: "The Man can only ride ya when your back is bent." The right-wing candidates are happy to take a ride in the GOP clown car for some quick and lucrative cash opportunities from the gullible masses, telling them what they want to hear, until the election is over and the idiots lose credibility and get replaced by new faces and the cycle repeats.

Whatever happened to Silly Sarah?
