10 Most Prosperous States Voted For....

People are leaving the Hillary-supporting states in droves.
When I say the blue states are in a depression, I don’t mean the collective funk they are in because they lost the election to Donald Trump.
I’m talking about an economic depression in the blue states that went for Hillary. Here is an amazing statistic. Of the 10 blue states that Hillary Clinton won by the largest percentage margins — California, Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut — every single one of them lost domestic migration (excluding immigration) over the last 10 years (2004-14). Nearly 2.75 million more Americans left California and New York than entered these states.
They are the loser states. They are all progressive. High taxes rates. High welfare benefits. Heavy regulation. Environmental extremism. Super minimum wages. Most outlaw energy drilling. The whole left-wing playbook is on display in the Hillary states. And people are leaving in droves. Day after day, they are being bled to death.;
Unfortunately, they are bringing their politics with them. - Some of the ex-Californians

We've been inundated with Californians for years, but the last 5 or so the greater Portland area in particular has been an absolute nightmare. Its been swarmed by liberals from all over the place and they are destroying this state.
Low minimum wage??...SM - Old Anon

RI min. wage will be $10.10 on 1/1 and MA min. wage will be $10.50 on 1/1. You consider that low?
To flip burgers? I dunno but I have an - education and years of experience

I make minimum wage of about $8 in my state doing MT work. If they raise minimum wage, more work will go to India.
If you keep raising minimum wage, prices will go up and there is no incentive for workers to get an education to do something other than flipping burgers or frying fries. Aside from that, employers will not employ as many people in start up learning positions and double up work on existing employees.
Think raising minimum wage is good? Think about the firing of California workers from Nuance because of high minimum wage.
People who create businesses and run companies are in this to make money. American lower level jobs are scarce and legislation will allow jobs to be off-shored.

RI and MA were low min. wage states and that was one of the reasons they are losing population and have low economic status. I disagreed and stated their true min. wage. Your state's min. wage is $8. Is it one of the states that is losing population and status? Indeed, the Federal min. wage needs to go up slowly, so as not to destroy businesses. Historically, it is so low as to be laughable. Yes, MT used to be a well paying career, but it's not anymore; and yes, MTSOs will offshore more if it goes up. You need to find another kind of work that pays more. I know, I know, easier said than done. I saw the handwriting on the wall 5 years ago and made moves to increase my income base and am now doing comfortably well. We all need to move on.

been going on for many years. People went to school to learn new skills that then were off shored. We all know business are in business to make money, but they are demanding higher and higher bonuses for their executives. We have a ridiculous wage gap in this country. Wages for the workers have become stagnant or have declined while CEO bonuses and salaries have gotten ridiculous, all at times when prices of goods are increasing.
Flipping burgers used to be a job for high school kids or people who wanted to earn a little extra money for their family. Now, these are jobs that people have to rely on to feed their families.
My question to anybody is what is the solution?
Maybe a concerted effort to...SM - Old Anon

shame CEOs about their exorbitant salaries and bonuses, or maybe we need a really large resurgence of the union movement. It is a tough question, but there's got to be a way to narrow the gap between rich and poor and return the middle class to their rightful place. Better education from birth is also a way to raise people out of poverty, which is something I would like to see disappear completely.
I appreciate - your good response

The only thing is, I don't think you can shame those people. I think the only way to stop this gap is by our government of the people through tax laws and removing loop holes. We have seen over and over how this trickle-down effect doesn't work, yet they keep trying it over and over.
The thought is that if you give tax breaks to these fat cats, they will provide better for their workers but they don't. Instead they take those breaks and pocket them.
They have pretty much broken the unions in this country. Some people think unions are what caused these jobs to go overseas. You will see jobs paying less and less and fat cats getting richer and richer when they totally dismantle the unions.

Women have been allowed to vote in the United States since 1920, after the passage of the 19th Amendment. But fast-forward to 2013, and plenty of states' laws have a provision that makes it harder for women who are married or divorced to cast a ballot.
