Those with convictions for a felony or three misdemeanors were ineligible. The promised border security never came. It never did. Only amnesty prevailed, and that encouraged more illegal immigration.

Followed by 4 years of George H.W. Bush. That is 7 years to implement the law. So if immigration remained a problem, which we all know it did, perhaps it's because the Republican leadership and their corporate supporters with the cash that funded their campaigns wanted their access to cheap labor to remain unimpeded regardless of the law they implemented (or something like that).

Perhaps liberals are not to blame for every single little gripe that conservatives have regarding the subject of immigration. LOL.

If someone is on this board looking for the approval/disapproval of others, I would consider that a rather strange addiction myself. I have noticed some conservative posters on this board posting questions about "why the dislikes" for my post.

I'm the one who keeps asking: "Who cares?" because I just don't understand why somebody would care if somebody disliked my opinion.

We are all different, but those differences are what make us special.

To me, "sm" means some more, and "nm" means no more.

I used to have a moniker on this site, but it got to the point where I was constantly slammed by the right wing just because they saw my moniker. It was like a nest of angry hornets chasing me.

I was referring to the 7 years of Republican leadership in the executive branch under President Reagan followed by President Bush, and I also made the statement "perhaps liberals are not to blame for every single little gripe that conservatives have regarding the subject of immigration." Not sure how you missed the fact that I was pretty much saying there was enough blame to go around.

Anyway, I do hope conservatives keep opposing comprehensive immigration reform and screaming about it at the top of their lungs and impeding it at every turn. People are watching, and I like how much that argument is working for you. LOL.

The one they called the general election.

A majority of Americans favor comprehensive immigration reform, and the POTUS has already begun to send illegals back across the border. Perhaps Congress should pass that legislation to amend the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008. Then the POTUS can get busy sending more of them back, which he favors along with most Americans.

Sending them back doesn't require treating them like trash when they manage to get across the border alive, nor should it rise to the level of opposing comprehensive immigration reform for those 12+ million that were already here before. That's the disconnect here, in my opinion of course.

Just looking for places where we have to show our picture ID in order to obtain something. I live in a small community where we chat with the precinct workers about things like "how is your grandma doing since she had surgery" or "the football team is starting out pretty good this year, aren't they" and yet they require me to hand them my picture ID when I vote.
