Mine came out $40 less than what we pay now. - But I am keeping my insurance
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't like the confusion of changing insurances and re-learning coverages, so I'll keep my current insurance. But the bronze plan is actually less than what I'm already paying.
OOps hit like by mistake!! - just because

I did the calculator and it looks good for me :) no insurance for over a year and way cheaper than what I was paying for even with group insurance.
Wow, thanks for the link. - me

That's a great resource. It really shows me how much Obamacare will say my husband compared to what we're paying presently for his crappy catastrophic coverage.
I'm looking forward to January 2014.
I think they are so happy about Obamacare - they just can't contain it!

Most people I know say it's way more than they - are now paying. Mine only a little more.
[ In Reply To ..]
That's why. I knew it would stink but I didn't know how bad.
Well then they can keep their current plan - and be grateful. nm.

for discounts. Substantial discounts. The lousier the income, the better the discount.
Sorry to burst your mean bubble. (Not really.) Most people here will do much better than you imagine.
BTW, guys, don't waste time with this calculator. Google Obamacare counseling in YOUR state. We can't all live in California, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York and so on. Even in those Republican-run states doing their best to impede implementation and limit benefits, there is nevertheless at least some benefit in this for everyone who is having trouble getting or paying for decent healthcare right now.
I'm a conservative, against OC, but actually - this will lower my rates
[ In Reply To ..]
It's good that my rates will be lower, however, there is so much I need to learn about this. After all OC is not really about health care AND fewer doctors, AND you are not going to be able to keep your same insurance company because they are driving them out of business so that everyone will be on govt health care.
While my rates will be lower, so will the level of care should I need it.
We have a critical physician shortage that has NOTHING - to do with Obamacare. However,
[ In Reply To ..]
as I said before, those physicians who'd rather work as a manager at their local country club than play golf as a member there will be able to leave medicine.
Those who are already accustomed to $100-400K incomes? They may just have a little bit of a problem...
You're being fed lies. For one thing, those genuine threats to leave are like those here--the only ones who count are the subset who actually do it. The only ones actually doing it in numbers worth noticing are older physicians who may choose to retire a bit earlier than otherwise so they can avoid having to learn new tricks.
I was talking about the ones who said because of OC - They will be quitting
[ In Reply To ..]
Has nothing to do with past or present. I was talking about the docs that have said they will have no option but to quit or not accept patients once this disaster goes through.
Never happen. Consider this. If what these docs...sm - VTMT

fear is true, that they will make less with Obamacare, their pay may go down from say $400,00 a year to $350,000 a year. If they quit medicine what would they do? There will not be a mass exodus of doctors and with everyone insured they will see more patients and not have to worry about nonpayment of their bills by the uninsured.
quite agree - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I really think your point cuts right to the chase. American physicians are the only primates on the planet that think their income should increase by 20% every year. The big buzz of a mass exodus is no buzz at all. Physicians will be fine.
Exactly. That minority claiming they'll have to quit - are lying. Plain and simple. Their

selfishness and dishonesty NOT to be confused with all the decent physicans, who may not be happy at combining having to learn new recordkeeping combined with possible decrease in earnings but are accepting these changes because they know they're desperately needed.
Who know better just how many people suffer and decline, and sometimes die, from lack of proper healthcare than the ones who examine them, talk with them, and then send them off with recommendations for treatment they know they'll never be able to get?
What we have is a basic division opening up over this issue between good people and bad.
You must have very good insurance then! - rates and level of care
[ In Reply To ..]
Are both abysmal with the large MTSO I work for at the moment.
If ACA is driving the insurance companies out of business it is because the gravy train of being able to gouge premiums, have no co-pays, high deductibles and no limits on what they charge is not to their taste. They will find some other industry to gouge poor people with, no doubt.
I would like to hear from anyone who has actually ever tested the "level of care" - what your typical policy pays for is not great, also lots of hidden costs that come out of our pocket. The value to me of Obamacare is not the premiums so much but that there is a cap on what they can charge and they have to provide services for relatively low co-pays.
The one I have right now costs only $60 every 2 weeks but it is good for nothing because there are no co-pays and the deductible is $3000. So I am basically paying $60 every 2 weeks just in case I get hit with a huge medical expense that I still won't be able to pay.
It has been too bad for too long and it costs the companies AND the employees way too much, so I say good riddance to the insurance companies who don't want to accept this. Maybe there are a few that can stick it out and offer good value and service. To my knowledge there is no govt health care, just private insurers that you can use if you take the govt exchange.

Obamacare Meltdown Has Arrived. Tennessee Is Ground Zero For Obamacare'sOct 07, 2016last month the state insurance commissioner, Julie Mix McPeak, approved premium increases of up to 62% in a bid to save the exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act. “I would characterize the exchange market in Tennessee as very near collapse,” she said.

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 20161) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos.
2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch.
Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine.

This Is My Take On Obamacare For Oct 03, 2013So this is what I have learned. After listening about the new health insurance, this is what I know. There are 3 levels of care/cost. Well after listening to a question and answer discussion on line program coming out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital systems, it scared me greatly.
If all the young people join this program, it will not help the older people who live on a fixed inc ...

ObamacareDec 31, 2013When discussing the ACA or Obamacare, whichever you call it, remember that it is literally like comparing apples and oranges (and grapes, pineapple and maybe even potatoes).
