OMG! Just heard Jimmy McMillan is a Republican!!!

Posted: Mar 14, 2011

He is going to run for President in 2012 and his new slogan is, get this...

"The deficit is too da*n high!"  He's on Scoreboard right now and I can't understand a word he's saying - he talks way too fast!!  The debates just got a lot more interesting ;)

;

I just heard that Donald Trump is serious about running as a Republican also - Yes it is interesting

[ In Reply To ..]
There may actually be more choices other than Palin, Bachman, and Gingrich.

Really - you think Bachman will run? - Zville MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I kinda like her (more so than Palin), but I just don't think this country is ready to vote a woman into the WH yet - politics is still too much of a good ole boy thing.

Not sure about the Donald, although he would have the business and foreign relations things down.

It will be good to have a few more choices, but I'm just not sure how good the choices will be, you know? It'll be an interesting next couple of months, that's for sure!

Yes, but her lack of unerstanding of American history is going to hurt her - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not that smart, but even I was shocked at her recent demonstration of lack of knowledge. In a contest with Palin, it would probably be a tie. She may very well be a nice person. I would prefer to have someone who can discuss our country and get the facts right.

Recently she got events totally confused, mixing up New Hampshire with Massachusetts.

Earlier she had mentioned how she loved the Founding Fathers who worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States.

She is totally unaware, apparently, that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson among others were slave owners in a major way. They weren't interested in the subject of ending slavery at all. That happened years later, in the 1800s, and the 'founding fathers' had nothing to do with stopping slavery. That's a big blunder for someone who is supposed to know more than the rest of us do.
Does show know how many states are - in the Union? Obama didn't

Right! They don't teach that at Harvard - Come on. Be serious.
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't like the fact that he is an academic snob, but the guy could tell you how many states are in the union. That's silly.
ummm...check out the video where he stammers - and stutters and then says 57.

easy search.

And by the way...Bush has an MBA and went to Yale.
The 1 thing I don't like about him is, he thinks everyone should be as well educated as he is - He is somewhat of an academic snob
[ In Reply To ..]
I really think he believes that everyone can get the advanced degrees like he has. He doesn't realize that not everyone is even college material. I know, he was from a poor family and scraped and struggled to get to Harvard, get his law degree, excel in his studies there, etc., etc., but not everybody needs or can do that.

I think he thinks too highly of education. It isn't the answer to everything.
Actually, she's kinda right in that statement - Zville MT
[ In Reply To ..]
Even though they owned slaves, Washington, Jefferson, and other founders were anti-slavery (I know, makes no sense). Jefferson even tried to abolish slavery in the Declaration of Independence, but the rest of the congress was afraid the southern states wouldn't go along with it if slavery were abolished, so it was scratched out. James Madison tried again in the Constitution, but again it was scrapped because congress felt it would be accepted more readily if slavery were left alone. Too much of the nation's agriculture depended on slavery at that time, I guess they were afraid of pushing too much too fast.

Another thing was at that time, some people actually believed that black people were intellectually inferior to white people and that while they shouldn't be enslaved, they didn't know what to do with them - they didn't know how to integrate them into society or where to send them out of the country. Even Lincoln struggled with that one before the Emancipation Proclimation.

So even while they were hypocrits on the idea of slaves being freed while still owning them anyway, they did work to try to set the stage for future generations to abolish slavery - unfortunately, it took almost 100 years for them to be freed and another 100 years for civil rights to come about.

Not giving her a pass so much as she probably just made a generalization as to what Washington, Jefferson, and other founders did behind the scenes to end slavery. There were also founders that didn't own slaves, like John Adams, who weren't quite so hypocritical about being antislavery.

and don't get me started on Joe Biden! "When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened." –Joe Biden, apparently unaware that FDR wasn't president when the stock market crashed in 1929 and that only experimental TV sets were in use at that time, interview with Katie Couric, Sept. 22, 2008.

Joe Biden - a heartbeat away from the presidency and messing up his history. Imagine that.

When a conservative misspeaks it's a HUGE deal! I think Lawrence O'Donnell spent close to 20 minutes relentlessly tearing Huckabee apart because of his misspeak. However, when Biden misspeaks, we hear, "Oh, don't be silly - that's just Joe."

Is there a conservative (mainly a conservative woman) in this nation who can misspeak and NOT be labeled stupid or not qualified for office? Seriously. So Bachmann messes up a couple of times. Does that make her unqualified? If that's the criteria, then Joe should resign immediately to someone who knows history and makes no gaffes.

Liberals just use this as an excuse ("they're stupid") to try and crush those who may oppose them.
Biden was correct that Roosevelt made that comment; Bachman was incorrect about the history she made - Big difference!
[ In Reply To ..]
Biden knows the history and who made the comments. Bachman didn't know who, where, or what happened. I really would like to see a little more knowledge of our country's history in people who run for office. It's especially important because we hopefully learn from history. We also need to know what we can and can't see from our back yards.
Need to read comment above about how she's kinda right. - sm

I don't care if they are beautiful, as people keep saying about Palin and Bachman. That doesn't matter to me at all. It really is important to me to have leaders who know more than I do about how our country works. They can get their speech mixed up from time to time. They can stutter or stammer. But when they are just there because they are pretty or draw a crowd well because of their outrageous comments that make headlines, I would rather not have them in those positions. I would rather have someone with more content, someone who comprehends the very difficult problems our country faces.
they are not just there because they are pretty - or draw a crowd

it's their conservative platform that makes them popular with American people.
Check out the video of Obama stammering and - stuttering about how many

states there are in the union, then finally saying 57...and he wasn't sure when he said that. If you are going to paint with a broad brush, then you need to paint all the stammerers/stutterers. If Bachman and Palin always worked with teleprompters they might look quasi-intelligent too.

Sorry. I just couldn't resist this one. My daughter told me the 3 branches of government when she was 7 years old! LOL

Don't worry - I'm done for now. Back to work for me. :-)

Senator Chuck Schumer: "We Have 3 Branches of Government, We Have a House, a Senate and a President"
"And all 3 of us are gonna have to come together and give some"....Chuck Schumer on CNN State of the Union, just imagine if Bachmann or Palin had said this...

The difference is, he knows how it works and she praised people for stopping slavery when they owned - The content matters most to me

Everyone makes a slip of the lip occasionally, but it's pretty clear when it's a slip of the brain instead. I have those myself, so I recognize it when I see it, but then I'm not running for office and I wouldn't vote for myself if I did.
Oh my! I started to reply that I agreed with the above and then I realized that - I wrote it

I am so embarrassed. At any rate, my opinion has changed just a little.

He should be given credit for actually knowing how our government works. He has been there for years working in government and made a slip of the lip.

She, as much as I hate to defend her, was praising people for what she believed to be abolishing slavery.

I'll give them both a 'pass'. Me? I don't give myself a pass for not even remembering what I had written a few days ago. I'm still red in the face.

You like someone who says one thing while campaigning to secure votes and then does the complete opposite (check out what he had to say about abortion during his campaign and then what he's done since elected) because you like his no-nonsense approach? I call that lying about your agenda in order to get in office. As far as the no-nonsense approach, he's cashing in on the Jersey Shore/Real Housewives flavor of the month (or year) that people seem to be so fascinated with. You're better off voting for Snookie.

Also, he was not up front with what he WAS going to do...like appoint all those czars without congressional approval, instruct the Justice Department not to defend DOMA in court....both unconstitutional....

I could go on but you get the picture.

At least he hasn't dragged us into any more wars yet - and wars run up national debt big time
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm thankful for the fact that he hasn't 'decided' that we should fight a few countries over this and that. I prefer that we be a little more selective in choosing our battles, then when we do, go in there and actually win, which we can do if we aren't fighting several at the same time.

I know! I'm so glad he didn't order tens of thousands more troops to Afghanistan. He did? Oops, never mind.

Well, thank goodness that Obama has got this debt under control and is not spending like crazy! I was getting worried there for a bit, at least until last summer and the "Summer of Recovery Tour" when he told us that the recession was over. I feel much better now. I would hate to see the government spend money to keep the troops prepared and then have to cut the Cowboy Poetry Festival! Can you imagine?!

It takes skills, restraint, and wisdom not to get into wars. It's very easy for a president to get us into one. It is nearly impossible to get out of one once we're in. The cost in lives and money for the wars we've been in over recent years has put us so far in debt we may never get out. I am glad that he is using restraint and not letting his ego take charge of his brain.
President CANNOT get us in one. Only - Congress can do that. However...

the President CAN get us out of one. It only takes congressional authorization to IN...not to come OUT.

Well, at least we own them as far as we have to support, protect, etc. We can't control them or tell them how to run their country. We have the responsibility but none of the power or control. I don't think I like that very much.

We can't just walk away though. There is no button to push or document to sign to get out. Getting in is easy. The President orders it done.
