Bernie Sanders has a cause — opposing the passage of the Trans-Pacific trade deal. No one else in the Democratic party will stand up and fight against it, so here he is declaring his 2016 presidential candidacy so that he can gain media exposure to oppose the TPP to a wide audience.

They include, but are not limited to:
1. Repealing Citizens United and getting big money out of elections.
2. Banking and Wall Street reform.
3. Closing tax loopholes for the rich and corporations to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
4. Addressing the growing income inequality.
5. Increasing the federal minimum wage so that no one who works 40 hours a week has to live in poverty and rely on public assistance.
6. Against the Trans Pacific Partnership as it now reads.
7. Strengthening Social Security.
8. Supports a national program to upgrade the infrastructure of America creating a million good paying jobs for Americans.
9. Stop rewarding companies who outsource Americans jobs.
10. Supports and will work to lift Americans out of poverty and bring the middle class back to life.
11. Supports President Obama's immigration reform.

I think Martin O'Malley is moving up behind the scene as a contender for your side. You should keep an eye on him.

United and getting the money out of elections. Does that include union money? If he doesn't want a business to have a say politics, then should their unions?

I'm for job creation the old way. Have an idea, raise capital, produce a product, hire local people, grow. But with globalism, enter the multinational corporation that gobbles up everything, downsizes, moves it's headquarters, people lose jobs, no new jobs are created here, all are in other countries. These large corporations donate money and buy the politicians to negotiate trade deals. No new jobs are created for all the immigrants. The entrepreneurial spirit is crushed with too many new taxes.

Social Security. Specific plan and how to pay for it.

I just wonder about how he plans these reforms.

He just uses class warfare, tax the rich. - No real solutions. nm

issues important to progressive democrats and independents. I think that, in the end, Hillary will get the nomination, but the interaction between the two of them during the primary campaign will help Hillary in general election. I, of course, support my favorite son.

Not one door that I knocked on said "no" they would not vote for Mr. Sanders in the primary. A few needed more information and were yet undecided (as is to be expected).
