FDR

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the only U.S. president to be named TIME's Person of the Year three times: 1932, 1934 and 1941. Roosevelt was elected president of the United States four times. There his New Deal policies, which included establishing Social Security, banking and securities reform, agricultural price supports and minimum wage, placed government at the service of the ordinary American.

You're comparing FDR to BO? - O.M.G.
[ In Reply To ..]
You need to come up with something better than this. Yes, FDR was loved by all. BO is NOT. Period.

P.S. It seems everyone but you knows the poster was referring to Hitler. Time to get the sand out of your eyes.
No, FDR was not loved by all. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times: I will decide what content is in my posts, regardless of whether it pleases the far right conservatives.

No, FDR was most certainly NOT loved by all. It was during FDR's presidency when the approval rating was first instituted by Gallup, starting in 1937. FDR's approval rating ranged from a low of 48 to a high of 84. In Roosevelt's first reelection campaign in 1936, a time when the economy was still in a huge state of turmoil from the Great Depression, Alf Landon and his fellow Republicans challenged FDR on a platform of repealing Social Security before the program had begun. The Republicans objected that the Social Security program was hostile to business and wasteful and inefficient. Republicans also accused Roosevelt of corruption and subverting the Constitution.

Sounding familiar yet?

Recognizing these similarities, the Democrats modeled Obama's reelection campaign much in the manner of FDR and won reelection, of course not by the same margin. Like FDR, Obama's opponents failed to paint him as a radical with radical ideas, and conservatives today continue with that same useless comparative narrative. So would anyone reading your post not recognize who you meant? LOL. It's just that it's so 1945, Republicans have used it ad nauseum, and just what will it take to recognize the losing argument?

Perhaps 70 years in the future Republicans will argue on political chat boards that Obama was loved by all. Perhaps they'll be opposing some other sweeping legislation for fear it will affect their Obamacare/ACA and FDR/Social Security.

Perhaps in the future, conservatives will pay more attention to learning from decades of history versus distortion of facts and constant political spin from inside the bubble of the alternate reality.... but I doubt it.
You can spin all you want. - BO is no FDR.
[ In Reply To ..]
Even wishing and praying won't make that happen. Ever. Period.
What will it take? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
The point is: Republicans in FDR's time tried to paint him as a radical trying to subvert the Constitution. At what point does the far right realize the complete futility of this stale argument, 70 years, 100 years?

The reality is: No one is trying to spin Obama as FDR. We're just saying that the equally opposite far right spin of Obama as Hitler is craziness and always has been, always will be, a losing proposition, no matter the amount of hateful spin nor how many painted cardboard signs....

Even wishing and praying won't make that happen. Ever. Period.
The point is... - ...you missed the point.

Repairing The Job Machine (More Jobs Under Obama Than Bush?)May 15, 2010
More jobs might be created this year than during George W. Bush's presidency. by Ronald Brownstein Saturday, May 15, 2010     If the economy produces jobs over the next eight months at the same pace as it did over the past four months, the nation will have created more jobs in 2010 alone than it did over the entire eight years of George W. Bush's presidency. That comparison comes with many footnotes and asterisks. But it shows how the economic debate between the parties ...

Another time O is mimicking something Bush did. For how much he speaks against Bush, it's unbelieveable that he is implementing things Bush did. Bush haters should be really upset over this.   PHOENIX – President Barack Obama's plan to send as many as 1,200 National Guard troops to the US-Mexico border appears to be a scaled-down version of the border security approach championed by his predecessor. TP Gets Its Wish--Thanks To Bush's Tax Cuts.Aug 05, 2011
Quote from S&P on downgrade: Compared with previous projections, our revised base case scenario now assumes that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, due to expire by the end of 2012,remain in place. That Bush Guy--not So Bad AfterallNov 09, 2010
WASHINGTON -- The conventional wisdom, at least in some parts of the political press, held that President George W. Bush did the Democrats a disservice by not launching his book tour before the 2010 elections. The thought process being that a reminder of the follies of his administration would have caused series headaches for the Republican Party, which was pledging that they had moved beyond the Bush years. On at least one policy front, however, it seems likely that the Obama White House would ...
