I, too, used to vote based on the person/issue, but no more. I think conservatism has descended this country into a greedy plutocracy where the gap between the rich and the poor continues to rise, and the soulless cons are clearly on the side of big greedy corporations, big money and big war, without any empathy or understanding regarding a "regular" person being able to earn a living wage, which they are totally against and vehemently so. No more conservatism for me. I'll just continue to count my pennies and dimes and continue to struggle to help feed my family.

I want to know how she cares about healthcare (which she tried by herself to implement when "Hubba Bubba" was president).
I want to know what she thinks of the economy regarding the largest wage gap in American history.
I want to know if she will cut off financial aid and food stamps, especially for those who work TWO jobs but are paid very little by very big corporations.
In other words, I want to know whether she is a wolf in sheep's clothing or whether she REALLY cares about people who need government assistance due to not being able to earn a LIVING wage, or if she would just throw them to the wolves -- like TPubs would.
I already know she's a traitor (should have NEVER made the statement she made about her former boss -- the current sitting president (TPubs will love her for that!)
I already know she's a liar, "poor Hillary," being "broke" after she left the White House.
I already know that she won't hold Israel accountable for their misdeeds, such as coming to the Pentagon and DEMANDING weapons, rather than have authorization.

She might be an interesting candidate, I just don't think she is electable, right now. No problem with her politics at all. For whatever reason you might like, it is not her time, she is too liberal, whatever. She will benefit greatly from throwing her hat in and going through the process. She will be given the forum to sort out some of the stupid stuff attached to every election (Native American Indian issue, etc) and she will get a whole lot of name recognition, and then she can come back at it later.
Hillary is the candidate, unless for some reason she doesn't run? or she just flat stumbles and falls into a hole.

stop voting at all because all politicians are in the business of lying or stretching and spinning the truth. If you don't like liars, you need to get over Elizabeth Warren for 2016. I won't list all the reasons why here, but I'll give you three of them.
(1) She lied about who she was at her very core when she claimed she was Native American. If Hillary "lying" about being "broke" when the Clintons left the White House bothers you when they had millions of dollars of legal debt to pay off, then perhaps Elizabeth Warren self identifying as a woman of color and a minority might warrant a small blip on the lie detector issue.
(2) She is NOT running (and, no, it doesn't have anything to do with the Clintons making her not run).
(3) Even if she was running, Hillary would win the nomination before Elizabeth Warren would.
Yes, you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
Yes, of course you don't care what I think.

He wants to investigate Wall Street.
He co-sponsored the bill to help the veterans of this country.
He DOESN'T want to take Social Security benefits away from the people who have worked all their lives.
He wants safe and clean drinking water.
He understands the science behind climate change and wants to try to save the planet.
He WANTS to help the poor.
There were already many socialistic aspects to our democracy, for the good of the PEOPLE. However, now that we live in a country run by Wall Street and all the greedy people/corporations, those safeguards aren't promised UNLESS someone like Bernie Sanders is the President!
He'd never really be able to get the funds to make a serious run for it. - Why?
[ In Reply To ..]
See your list above.
We live in a country run by Wall Street, but that fact is NOT anything new whatsoever. The people with the money will always make the rules. I promise you that this fact will never change. What might change is what the people with the money decide they want.
There are a lot of extremely rich liberals.
There are a lot of extremely rich conservatives.
There's just the political dance every 4 years.
The country has been in a huge shift to the left for awhile, winning the popular vote in the last 5 out of 6 elections. The demographics lean heavily Democratic in the 2016 electoral college.
Why? Because New York and California are in the bag. Virginia is tilting left, and Virginia is a very good barometer for the nation (Missouri used to be, now it's Virginia).
My prediction for 2016: If Hillary runs: Hillary Clinton/Hispanic male like Julian or Joaquin Castro
Texas is never in play. That ticket would put Texas into play and make the Pubs spend lots of money there to defend it. Did you notice how the choices for the Pub convention were narrowed down to Dallas and Cleveland? There's a reason for that! The Republicans really have to win Ohio to win the presidency (the Democrats do not), and they're worried about having to defend Texas in 2016. If Texas flips, the Republican party as we know it today will cease to exist. They don't want Texas even in play, so I'm thinking we're going to see our first Latino candidate as a huge possibility. We'll see.
If Hillary doesn't run: No idea!

In other times and with a better educated population, Sanders would be ignored as a nut. However, the left is convinced they now control the nation. They control the education system, national gov’t, and the large media organizations. It is a clear road ahead with no opposition or problems. Therefore, an extremist like Sanders sees big opportunity ahead.
Sanders wants to go from state to national politics. He wants to become a national socialist. He touts democracy so that makes his banner the national democratic socialist. He claims democracy works for all the people, making his cause the national democratic socialist workers cause. In NYS, there is the Working Families Party, which would line up for Sanders. It is all coming together. Let’s see, all he needs is a name for his new, national ambitions — a new party name. Hmmmm, what might be a good name? National Socialist Democratic Workers something?

Most I would imagine will check the weather report before they head out the door. Maybe they should stop doing that. Meteorology IS a science, after all.
They likely use Google Earth to check out the location of somewhere they want to go (to shop, to buy a house, to go for a bike ride, etc.), and I guess they don't realize that the satellite images they're zooming in on are the result of the science that created them. Or worse, the science that made us even aware that there is an outer space.
If they own a purebred pet, they have to believe at least somewhat in the science of GENETICS, because that is how their little pet's lovable characteristics were created over time.

FYI: Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat; he is an Independent, but he does caucus with Democrats.
Now to answer your question:
Democrats Contemplating Running
Hillary Clinton
Joe Biden
Amy Klobuchar
Martin O'Malley
Mark Warner
Kirsten Gillibrand
Brian Schweitzer
Andrew Cuomo (iffy now)
***Elizabeth Warren--not running but mainly Republican pundits trying to praise her and draft her as a female substitute because:
(1) they want Democrats infighting like they are, and
(2) they'd rather run against her than Hillary. Republicans in many states voted for BO in primaries because they wanted to face him versus Hillary, thinking he'd never win. They'd do the same (if necessary) to avoid Hillary again.

I edited that post because although I did agree with her on the issue, I did NOT intend to agree with her description of Democrats.
Please know that was an oversight on my part, and I apologize for that, and I fixed it.
I'm used to a LOT of people hating me on this board because there are one or two issues that I simply disagree with Democrats about. So when I post pro-Democratic posts, I'm "disliked" and jumped on by the TPubs, and when I post something that I agree with the Tpubs on, I'm disliked by the Democrats.
Believe ME, it makes me want to throw up when I actually AGREE with a TPub!
Again, please copy and paste the posts that you think I wrote that were "scathing" to Democrats, and if they are, I will fix them.
If it's just a disagreement, that's not "scathing," in my opinion.
I've come to ignore the attacks of the TPubs on this board, and I literally didn't even SEE the attack in the post I edited because I was agreeing with the ISSUE.

[ In Reply To ..]
What gets me is the people who say, "Well, we gave ___ a chance and things are not better, so let's try something new." Really?
Simplistic conclusions do not work with our current form of govt. Look what happened to the Supreme Court with conservatism. The guys on there who keep voting for things like Citizens United and Hobby Lobby are real corporatists and in bed with the big corporations, so no matter how much you love your guns and your bibles, we now have a Supreme Court who are making laws which help the rich get richer, victimize the poor and those not religious, and appear to be anti-science, which is certainly NOT what our founding fathers intended.
ALEC is a (non-profit!) organization which writes boilerplate laws, hands them over to our elected officials with a bunch of cash to make them happy and get them reelected, and voila we are already having most of our laws written by corporations and their lobbyists.
It is important to have much GREATER transparency about the money in politics, not LESS. It should be important to make it easier for any one of us to run for congress or senate, but who has a million dollars, and who can afford to give it to you, and then who will you owe? Not what this country is supposed to be about.
So yes, we are screwed right now, but how long can they keep voting against the will of the people and get away with it? Gun control is favored by the majority, gets no laws to stop the massacres. Access to health care is being blocked by those governors who turn down Medicaid for the poorest among us. That is just selfish ideology. Minimum wage increase is necessary AND even Republican voters want this. Tough on us.
We have to at least try to change this and vote.

A Nice Thought May 01, 2011
"Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold. For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have no power to hurt you. So in like manner you must grow in patience when you meet with great wrongs, and they will be powerless to vex your mind."-- Leonardo Da Vinci

Never Thought I'd Have To Actually Pay Attention To This! Aug 10, 2010Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life, or a single cubit to his height?

Thought I Was Getting Married. Now Not So Sure.Aug 01, 2012Been dating this guy 7 months. Everything going great until recently when he told me a couple "white lies." These were very insignificant, but still lies. Let it go. I complained to him that after about 5 months, the honeymoon was over. We do not "date" anymore, even though we can both afford it. I don't want to sound needy, but everything else seems to come before me, and we started spending less and less time together. We discussed "pre-marital co ...
Here's A Thought About Obamacare.Sep 15, 2012A lot of long-time MTs are middle-aged. A lot of MTs would love to leave their MTSO jobs if they could find a better job in their community. A lot of job-seekers are discouraged because they get little or no response on job apps with other employers. A lot of age discrimination can happen discreetly, by either noting your "25 years" of experience at your last job (if not just by looking at you if you DO get called for an interview).
I've been told that one reason e ...
