That wouldn't be a simple matter. They could pull out weapons that we know they have, threaten our friends in the area, and we would have a major war.

people. We are selective about who we allow to murder their own people. Well of course we are, silly me. Hussein murdered his own people for years and we did not get involved until we were attacked on our own soil. No such attack precipitated us bombing Libya.

Some are appropriate, but they have to be taken case by case. There are more negatives involved with this one than positives. They have never been our friends or even pretended to be. I say we stay out of this one unless they attack one of our friends.

Case by basis? Somehow people being gunned down in Libya is somehow worse than people being gunned down in Syria? The demonstrators are demonstrating against the government who is not our friend, just like the Libyans were demonstrating against a government who was not our friend.

If nothing is done, all that tells me is that there is something in Libya the one-world folks want that is not in Syria.

May I again remind you that the same governments who supported us going into Iraq and went with us are the same ones in Libya.

Taking a potshot at the Bush administration really doesn't help in this situation.

Fact is...situations are the same in Syria that they were in Libya. People are being shot down. Didn't Obama say that ghadafi should be stopped from murdering his own people, which, incidentally, both Clinton and Bush said about Hussein?

I say it is hard to make a case for going into Libya and NOT going into Syria, unless they want to tell us the WHOLE story about Libya...

There are differences that make it unwise for us to mess with Syria. All we need to do is get them riled up so they pull out their nuclear weapons. When they do that, they always go after Israel, right next door. We are committed to supporting Israel. All the countries around Israel hate them and would join i with Syria against Israel, and we've got a whole passel of trouble.

Like I said....we pick and choose who we allow - to murder their own people.

We can't save the world, even though most Americans wish we could. If we assess the situation and decide that we will do more harm than good messing in a situation, we step back. We didn't do that in Iraq, for example. That one needed a little more thought. Afghanistan was different because of Bin Laden. It was the right thing to do. We're never going to be 100% right, but we obviously can't fight every fight, but there are some that are just the right thing to do. Was Libya the right thing to do? I don't know. I don't have all the facts and neither to any of us. There are facts that we don't have access to and hopefully the right decision was made. Time will tell, as with Iraq.

Sorry...using our brains has not entered into any of this, and I for one would like to know the other side of the story as to why we are in Libya. We sat and let Hussein murder thousands...but it was not until we were attacked on our own soil that we decided to go in there. And we did that knowing that he had WMD...that is why our soldiers were all equipped with gas masks yada yada in case he used them on us. So, while I would like to agree with what you are saying...the facts don't support it. Everyone said Bush had another agenda and it was oil.

Following that line of thinking, I personally think there is more to Libya than meets the eye and its name is George Soros. ;)

The unclassified report shows the chemical weapons were used by Assad. He has not made a final decision. He is not considering any open-ended or military action that involves boots-on-the-ground but will be a limited, narrow act that would help make sure that Syria and others around the world know that using chemical weapons are not acceptable.
