Don't even know what to name this - MSNBC incident

Posted: Nov 30, 2009

I don't even know how I came across this.  Some link off of a link someone posted below.  This goes to show why I will not watch MSNBC.  It was an interview of a 17 year old girl at the booksigning of Sarah Palin.  The first article is about how Nora O'Donnell arrived at the book signing with prepared notes to try to challenge Sarah Palin fans (why would anyone want to challenge people waiting to have a book signed by Palin - this is not an election, it's a book signing).  The second article is the girl that she interviewed telling what really happened.  Both are interesting to read, and goes to show me the ruthlessness and lies that MSNBC continues to air.

As a side note, there is a funny little video called NewsBusted off to the side of the first link.

I did not see girl being forced by stun gun to answer the interviewer. O'Donnell was then for news and commentary, not to give free promo to SP. It is newsworthy to note that people who support political candidates do not really know what their candidates stand for. Tempest in a teapot.

Maybe if you tried reading and learning what SP is for - or against it wouldnt sound

[ In Reply To ..]
iggy. Truth be known you don't even know what SP stands for. And did you read the article? It doesn't sound like it by your comments. When N.O. was asked where she heard that she wouldn't answer her. Probably because somebody forgot to research that so they could tell N.O. as N.O. obviously does not do any research. You just prefer to buy hook and line any MSLSD says. Even when they are wrong.

I watched her closely during the campaign - cheezeweasel

Interrogated, grilled, and ambushed oh my - NJ

Featured on Glen Bleck and Bill O'Really.

Either the kid told Norah that she voted or Norah made a bad mistake. Either way, Jackie wasn't interrogated, grilled, or ambushed. She wore a shirt with a wisecrack saying about the bailout, and she was asked if she knew Palin's campaign position on the bailout. She didn't.

No big whoop. Except that the conservative media is claiming she was "interrogated" and "grilled" and "ambushed".

What's so bad about finding out if people know what they are supporting?

NJ

Did you even read the articles with an open mind - or know ahead of time your

[ In Reply To ..]
mind was made up that whatever the people at MSNBC wrote was okay but the other side was not. That's what it sounds like.

The "girl" (not kid - how rude) did not tell Nora that she voted since she is only 17 (16 at the time of the election). Norah flat out lied. Then on top of that what made it worse was this Norah didn't even have the decency to come out and say she was wrong (no surprise as NOBODY at MSNBC ever says they were wrong about anything). No, she has to make some wisecrack about how the girl is "not 13 as some suggested". Well first, nobody suggested, and the second hole in that lie is if someone had suggested that she was 13, why would Norah even have thought the girl was of voting age, unless of course Norah really is as stupid as she looks and thinks that 13 year olds can vote.

Second her T-shirt was not a wise crack. It's a statement of how all Americans feel. Americans were not for the bail out - and with some research and reading other sites besides the ones who cut SP down all the time you would find out that SP was not for the bail outs. Maybe you should expand your reading to something other than a liberal site or station. Even better yet, you should read Palin's own words. But that's for a different post.

Here is an excerpt from what really happened.

She asked me my name and then before going on air asked me why I liked Sarah Palin, I repeated what I told the NYT reporter. (which was) - I said, “As a young female she is someone I can look up to, before her the only prominent female in politics I had known about was Hilary Clinton, whom I respect don’t get me wrong, I respect her but when you don’t agree with someone it’s hard to really look up to them. I like how Sarah Palin will speak her mind, regardless of what the media will say about it.”

Norah didn’t seem to like that much. So what did she do? I mean she couldn’t ask me that question on television, heaven forbid her not have a biting response.. I noticed her look down at my shirt then, she turned around blackberry in hand spoke to a man, thumbs tapping the blackberry (I don’t remember if she called or not, she may have. But she was on her blackberry), then jotted down a quick note. Little did I know that note would be used against me.

She had me read my shirt and then proceeded to ask me “Did you know Sarah Palin supported the bailout” to be 100% honest I was like, are you kidding me? She is trying to use my shirt against me. I was so shocked by the craftiness she had that I was truly stumped. I asked her where she got her fact and she read her little note.

The only unfortunate thing this 17-year-old girl did was think that a station who calls themselves a "news station" would be fair and treat people with respect. After all it was a book signed, not a political function. Guess Norah thought she was naive and would be flustered, unfortunately it did not work out in Norah's favor.

Interrogated, grilled, and ambushed...while I am not seeing that in the news (except grilled), I do agree that those terms fit what the despicable amateur Norah (who calls herself a reporter) did to her.

What's so bad??? The people are there to buy a book and get it signed. This was not a political rally/event. Is everyone supposed to know the political policies of everyone they want to buy a book from. So if Obama writes a book and is at a book signing and people want to buy his book to learn about him (or for whatever reason they want to buy his book), should they be grilled about all of his policies and viewpoints before they can buy his book. Guaranteed if this WAS a book signing by Obama the amateur crew at MSNBC would not be grilling the people who want to buy his book, meet him in person, and have him sign their book. That absolute hatred of Sarah Palin once again shines through with the stooge crew and seems you agree with them.

Read her blog - NJ

[ In Reply To ..]
Thank goodness she's not old enough to vote because her blog shows a lack of critical thinking skills.

I did more than read the article in the post, I googled the incident and read her blog.

Conservative media is up in arms about her being grilled, interrogated, and ambushed. That's called "spin". It's not reporting. It's swaying public opinion.

What's so bad about a reporter asking someone with a political saying on their shirt who is a fan going after an autograph if they understand the relationship between what their shirt says and what Palin says?

Hands off because she's Palin? Hardly fair and balanced.

NJ
So now it takes "critical thinking skills" to buy a book - Sheesh.
[ In Reply To ..]
Are you people for real. The girl (not old enough to vote yet, so probably not as "knowledgeable as people such as yourselves believe you are". Give the girl a break. She's 17 years old. I don't expect her to know the intricacies of all policies the president and the congress and white house have. She's buy a book from a person she admires. What is the problem with that. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know you should not be expected to know the detailed policies of every politician you want to buy a book from and have him or her sign it. If this was Obama selling a book and a teenager wanted to buy it to learn about Obama's life I would not expect that he know Obama's policies before buying his book.

Not hands off Palin, hands off trying to make a teenager look bad because she wanted to buy a book written by Sarah Palin.

Oh yeah, I wear a football t-shirt but I know nothing about football. Who cares what she was wearing...O'Dumbbell was out of line.

Man, are you people for real?

It amazes me that the 2 above posters - still defend BSNBC when they

[ In Reply To ..]
know what O'Dumbell and BSNBC did was wrong. I guess one of them doesn't realize you don't call on a young girl just to ridicule her because she likes someone they hate. Did they even read the article? Doesn't sound like if from their comments. The girl is 17, she never told them her age and now O'Dumbell comes back and say "well she's not 13 as some have suggested". Nobody suggested she was 13 and her age never came up. O'Dumbell yanked her in knowing she was young and probably figured by grilling her the way their mode of operation is for anyone opposite their viewpoints they figured she would get flustered. Quite the opposite reaction though and that is why O'Dumbell made the other nasty comments.

BSNBC is a disgrace to the other real news stations.

Beck intimated the kid was 13. As to what she told Norah, I guess we'll never know for sure. Still, Norah blew it as I mentioned in my previous post.

Check the video of the "interview". Calling that "grilling" is inflammatory. Or misdirection...as in trying to get people to look beyond the kid having no idea what Palin is about. All in all, no big news. The Palin supporters I know are often unclear on issues.

NJ

I'm not talking about Beck - try and stick with the - current topic - nowhere in

[ In Reply To ..]
my post did I mention Beck. In fact I don't even think Beck was mentioned in the articles. This is not about Beck. It is about the 17 year old girl Norah grilled and MSNBC and what they did. I don't care about Beck or anyone at Fox. If I did I would have included them in my post.

I was talking about O'Dumbbell's comments. Not Beck. What your saying then is O'Dumbbell watched Beck and then made her comments based on what he said. Don't understand your argument. O'Dumbbell made the comment about the girl not being 13. If she thought the girl was 13 and that's because as you said Beck said she was 13, then one can only conclude that O'Dumbbell and the rest of the stooge crew at MSNBC watch Beck and then fashion their stories around what he says.

Again, I was talking about what O'Dumbbell said, not Beck.

Next time we catch a teenager as young as 13 buying an Obama book, lets grill him or her and totally condescending to them. After all if they are going to buy a book about his life, they better know what his policies are.

PMSNBC, lamestream media, etc. - no need to contemplate this one!

Conservative talk radio (NOT NPR) pointed out their hypocrite whities!

A cradle-to-grave society is NOT the American way, doesn't work. Look at Cuba, Venezuela, etc.

The ratings don't lie. Conservatives don't give anyone a free pass, and that includes RINOs! We also do our own homework. Black conservatives are often beaten at tea parties, and called everything under the sun.

No food fight here, just adding to this post.
