Did you know that Obama's MIL lives at the WH?

Just saw on CBS this morning that Obama's mother in law didn't want Moochelle to marry him because he is half white. But, in her words, it was better than him being "all white". Then they said she likes him now and even lives at the WH with them! Wow! If this was a republican in law saying something like that they would be crucified. And I really hope she's paying her fair share of the rent. Why should taxpayers pay for her?

Supposedly when they moved into the WH she was there to help with the girls. Since Michelle and Mr. O would be gone so much, she was there to help with the girls and provide stability.

This is not really new news, but you have a point. No doubt she doesn't pay anything at all. I wonder if she gets a clothing allowance or traveling expenses. I didn't read where she went on vacations with them though.

Oh, yeah. We pay for her too. They bring family - and we pay. (sm)

Every other first family's nanny has been paid with taxpayer dollars, just like every other White House staff member, just like the chefs, chauffeurs, housekeepers. What's the problem. Could it be that republicans don't think the Obama's deserve the same perks as the Bush family?

Wonder what it costs us to house the mother of - the beast?

First, where have you been? She came with them to the WH from the very beginning to help watch over the girls. Would you rather have had them pay for an expensive nanny, who would have been a whole lot more expensive than Michelle's mom? You'd complain about that too, no doubt.

You clearly have no clue as to how busy a First Lady is, and please, don't go spouting about how you know what she does and doesn't do. I have a friend whose husband was governor of the state, and her schedule was incredibly busy.

Where are those conservative family values that are so often touted? Conservatives keep wanting to set the clock back to the 1950s, and guess what? This is what families used to do if mom had to work, rely on family members to help. I'd much rather have Mom living there to provide company and care for the girls (and yes, this would also apply to any Republican family as well for me) than paying a stranger to care for them.

As to the personal stuff, you know what? Who gives a rat's behind? That's none of anyone else's business and is no better than gossip rag magazine talk. Aren't you better than that?

The girls were very young when they came into the White House, and they are still underage and need supervision and care. Besides, she is family. I have a new granddaughter and am thrilled every time I am asked to watch my granddaughter, and I wouldn't take a cent from my son and daughter-in-law, as this is a labor of love. And why shouldn't the girls grandmother take a vacation with them sometimes? They are family, right?

There are people sleeping on the streets in every major city in the US, but how many of us TALK ABOUT THAT, and ask our politicians to do something about THAT.
