Slavery is a part of our history, but the whole country was not built on it as you say. Many people did not own slaves. In fact, some blacks actually owned slaves. Look it up.

It appeared that Bostonians of European descent viewed him as being of mixed ethnicity. In 1750 William Brown, a slave-owner in Framingham, advertised for the return of a runaway slave named Crispus. However, his descendants maintain he was a slave and ran away sometime in his teenage years. What is known is that Attucks became a sailor and he spent much of the remainder of his life at sea often working on whalers which involved long voyages. He may only have been temporarily in Boston in early 1770, having recently returned from a voyage to the Bahamas. He was due to leave shortly afterwards on a ship for North Carolina.

There was a black speaker of the house in 1870. Look up Madame C. J. Walker, a black cosmetic pioneer. George Washington Carver prayed to God to show him what to do with a peanut, and found 300 uses for it. Many inspiring stories.
We need to reconcile and move on. We are all created by God.
I love these inspiring stories, but my question is - what about everybody learning these?

How about instead of trying to get all the "negative" stuff out of textbooks (I'm looking at you, Texas) we include these kinds of stories, in addition to truthful renditions of slavery, institutional racism, prejudice, etc., for EVERYONE to learn.
History is history, it should be as inclusive as possible. Maybe if we all growing up learned the many contributions made to our national history by black Americans we might all be better off, no?

If black lives matter so much why are they killing each other on a daily basis? When I see them treating each other with respect, neighborhoods safe for all, have self respect, then I will start caring what happens to them. Until then BLM is just a bunch of hot air IMO.
