about Little Italy in NY, the Irish Catholic neighborhoods of Boston, the Jewish Lower East Side of NY, the Cuban neighborhoods of Miami, the Asian communities on the West Coast or is it just the Islamic communities because of fear of terrorism?

way of life, flew the American flag, were patriotic by supporting our government and served in the military. They were proud of this country and appreciated the chance to be free.

Can't say that about the new immigrants, especially the younger ones, and that lncludes all the illegals from all countries.

for many of these communities to be assimilated and many of our grandparents never learned to speak English. Yes, it's true that they never threatened terrorism but there are also American Muslims serving in the military and dying for this country as well.

the part about saying it has gotten worse in the last 5 to 6 years. This might be at the opposite end of your state, but I grew up in the area and it has been highly Arabic for many, many years, not just in the last 5 or 6 years. I am almost 60 and Dearborn was turning Arabic when I was a child so this can't be blamed on Obama.

Michigan has always been a melting pot, initially more so than any other city in the early part of the 20th century. This was primarily because of the auto industry. There were ethnic groups from all over the world coming into Michigan to work in the auto industry. Everybody got along. There were Polish neighborhoods, Italian neighborhoods, Asian neighborhoods, Arab neighborhoods, Greek neighborhoods, African neighborhoods, etc. You get the picture. The difference between then and now is that everybody back then assimilated and got along with one another. Nobody tried to push their agenda on anyone else. No one else ever took over an ENTIRE CITY and turned it into a foreign land. The Italians learned how to speak English. The Polish learn how to speak English. Everybody flew the American flag. They were Americans now. They were proud of their new heritage. But they never got rid of their native heritage, nor did anyone want them to. The cultural differences were welcomed. A lot of people on the left today don't seem to understand what assimilation means. The larger the Arab population grows, the more demanding they are. It has been said that the ultimate goal of the Muslim population is to dominate the world.

about assimilation. I also know it started in East Dearborn and has spread to West Dearborn and Dearborn Heights. I am merely saying that this article is saying that it has happened in the last 5 or 6 years, to me indicating that it is being blamed on the Obama administration and that simply is not true. This was happening long before Obama took office. The city was predominantly white while Mayor Hubbard was in office, I believe he left office in 1978. The change started then and has steadily turned into little Arabia since then, not in the last 5 to 6 years. I worked for the City of Dearborn in 2003 and had a hard time finding a place to go for lunch that didn't have the name of it in Arabic in East or West Dearborn. Bush was in office then. I'm not blaming him either. This is just what is happening in our country but it has not been happening in just the last 8 years; that is what people don't seem to get.

When I was growing up in the suburbs, we used to go to the different ethnic festivals down on the waterfront every summer. A different group would host every weekend. That is how we learned about the other cultures, including their food, clothing, dance, etc. It was a great way to experience everything. I learned about South American (general) culture, Spanish, French, African, Italian, Irish, German, Greek, Polish, Indian and I can't even remember how many others. It was so much fun. I even went to school with a lot of immigrants. In fact, many of my friends were first-generation American (like me). We all got along and it was wonderful! No one tried to change anyone else. We embraced our differences.

How can someone possibly dislike this? - sm

Dearborn - Just another slave

As one who was born and raised in Muskegon and lived there all my life, I am appalled at what's happening in Dearborn. This should never have been allowed to happen. I couldn't even watch the entire video, it sickened me that much. I now live in a "sanctuary" city - Chicago - and I swear I can't even walk across the street to the grocery store without seeing someone in a hijab. Nobody I know is happy about this.

this summer and I guess I was in a different area because what I saw was mainly black. This is not meant to be a criticism toward any race or religion, just my observation. Anyway, it's not wearing a hijab that is bad; that is what the Muslim's do. What is bad is any culture that tries to change our way of life to theirs. Also, it's not "happening in Dearborn." It has already happened.

I watched this last night on television and it was quite an eye opener. Seeing both Trump and Hillary in their formative years and seeing what makes each of them today - neither one had the start in life that everyone deserves.
