Boehner blows his top, collects marbles and heads home.

Posted: Jul 22, 2011

on account of the impossible position in which his bickering intransient fringe factions have placed him.  I really can't say I blame him, though it does call his leadership skills into question along with Cantor's ambitious curious personal agenda.   In a surprise move, the Senate adjourns in lieu of weekend work.  No details on that just yet.  Obama calls Saturday summit with congressional head honchos in a.m. and is emphatic the debt ceiling will be raised.  Looks like McConnell plan is on, which is as it should be.  I think the GOPs last best chance of seeing significant entitlement cuts on the big 3 anytime soon just passed them by.

In the meantime, Obama is finally taking charge after exhausting all efforts and has obviously placed his focus exactly where it needs to be, trained above the fray of endless GOP posturing and honed squarely on the immediate needs of the country and its citizens while giving credit where credit is due to bent-over-backwards dems.  More power to him.  It's about time.

Watch for Obama's ratings tke a significant up curve next week.

HA! The senate dems have not passed a budget in over two years, don't have one on the tablet now and not one dem has put a proposal in writing. As my Senator Rubio said today, you cannot negotiate when you have nothing to work with, they need to put a plan out on paper.
Bambi is the best politician I have ever seen. He gives these great talking points the media report on, and contradicts them in word and actions sometimes within the same breath.
Sarah is going to clean his clock and pick his nose next November. I am so looking forward to having someone in the WH who cares about doing the right thing for the people instead of the present occupant who is trying to finish socializing the USA in one term.

Right! Obama has no plan and never did, then - tried to sneak a tax increase in.

[ In Reply To ..]
Obama should have been a used car salesman... or a community organizer. Wait, nevermind.

Waaaaah. You've been outsmarted by a socialist. - Waaaaah.

[ In Reply To ..]
Boo-hoo.
As if that made ANY sense. Quite the contrary, Boehner - did not fall for the socialist's prank.
[ In Reply To ..]
About time Americans wake up and see what a thug and swindler our president is.
Guess what? The game is over. Debt ceiling was liberated - from the budget today.
[ In Reply To ..]
They got no hostage. No ransom is forthcoming and the budget is still sitting in Boehner's lap, right where it belongs. Constitution says Congress is (ir)responsible for it. Prez signs it. From the looks of things, the tan man still has a big fat tea party problem because it will never fly without revenues.
Exactly. The tea party represents, what, about - 20% of the Republicans
[ In Reply To ..]
(if that much) in Congress. Boehner is scared to death to go against them.

I predict a swift political demise of that crazy Tea Party. Though they're the worst thing for the economy (our country's and the entire world's), they're a gift to the Democrats that keeps on giving.

Excuse me. The debt ceiling WILL be raised despite - GOPs best efforts to prevent it, and

[ In Reply To ..]
the GOP is fooling itself BIGTIME if they think Obama and the dems are going to take the wrap for their hostage-taking-pledge-signing fringe's inept approach and collossal failure to compromise even a single yoctometer. The polls overwhelmingly favor the dems plan on this whether you believe it or not, and whenever you get numbers such as 80% against slashing entitlements, it's a no-brainer that this is a bipartisan consensus regardless of what has been going on inside the beltway.

There is not a grain of truth to anything in your post. The dems are the only one who have come up with any number of formulas for resolving this problem. Instead of this attack dog mode, your party would be well advised to contemplate the pitfalls of placing ideology over the common good, especially when it comes to showing such blatently transparent willingness to tank the economy and turn us into a nation of deadbeats for the sake of making political hay in 2012. The nose-picking gutter snipe speaks volumes about the level of ignorance found within your ranks.

Sarah who?

Totally wrong. The dems have no plan. The pubs have - several only to get villified each time.

[ In Reply To ..]
Obama should have had a balanced budget plan months ago. This is his problem, yet now that it is last minute, its the pubs holding things up. WRONG!

I wonder if Rupert Murdoch plays a part in manipulating the Dow, since - he owns it.nm

[ In Reply To ..]
try to look at issues and decide for myself who is more in line with what I believe to be right and wrong. I don't know that anyone in Washington really cares about me, but I also don't feel that the Democratic party is right for me. I am middle class, and I don't feel I fit in. I am a nobody. The thing is a lot of middle class don't care that they are a nobody. They see the government as a group of people put together to decide how tax dollars should be spent, make laws and to make sure our country is protected. We do not see them as an agency to provide really anything to us.

After all deductions, I do still pay in taxes at the end up paying in. So, naturally I would want to vote for who I think is going to do the best job at taking care of my money that is put in. I think that we should all realize that both parties have done their share for corporations and I don't think it is one sided.

I agree. The Republicans/Tea Party aren't interested in - helping the middle class. sm

He is confused on what a president vs a king is. He was really never qualified to be president... we were just "hoping" -BIG mistake.

I thought Obama came out to speak to look good and fool us again. - trick worked on some

[ In Reply To ..]
I think Obama was the one who walked out the other week, so for him to come out and say he was not the one that walked out seemed like he was trying to look good and speak before anyone else could, just covering his behind.

Obama looked ridiculous on TV tonight. Like a little - kid who couldnt get his way...no president.nm

[ In Reply To ..]
A more grounded American would realize that if we need to borrow more and more money to pay what we already owe we are doomed! When does it stop? Obama cannot borrow America's way out of debt and just how anyone can see this as a good thing is beyond belief. He needs a plan to get us out of debt, not to make more debt. than he will be a leader taking a firm grip.

I didn't know you were a fortune teller. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
You really should be careful on predictions since everything is not black and white these days. It may be what you are hoping for, but that "hope" thing kind of went out the window for most of the country once the novelty wore off.

Boehner is the first real leader we've had since I don't know when. He is the first politician in a long time that actually cares about the people of the country and what happens to us. And hey, if he gets emotional on issues I like that in a person. It shows some humanity and decency. Something we never saw once ever in Pelosi.

Obama needs to get off his you know what and work with the congress. Whether he likes it or not there are republicans in office and it would do him well to shut up and listen to them for a change. As for his focus...it was never on what it needed to be on.

I will be watching for his ratings next weeks, but I have a sense they will be on his continuing downfall like they have been.

The Republicans WANT to shut down the government. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
If Obama can't fail on his own, they're willing to do it for him and then blame him for it. Boehner doesn't have the courage to go against the minority freshmen Tea Party reps, and they're (the Tea Party) clearly nutz.

The only thing it helps is Obama's re-election.

A Heads-up For The GOP's Future Viability.Nov 17, 2012
