Yesterday I posted about foot pain, and sure enough I was diagnosed with gout. I was put on an anti-inflammatory drug to cool it down, and in 2 weeks I am to have a uric acid level checked.
Thanks for your comments yesterday. I have a very important question. I love canned pink salmon and eat quite a bit of it, especially lately. I have done on line research for the foods to avoid to lessen my chances of recurrent bouts of this debilitating pain. It is so frustrating to find contradictions, one site stating salmon a few times a week is fine, the next saying to avoid it. My doctor said shellfish are the main culprits; i.e. oysters, etc. However, some warn against eating salmon.
I really appreciate any help you can give. I have new respect for anyone suffering gout flareups. My entire right leg is so painful now because of favoring the right foot. Also . . On the very high list of things to avoid is beer and red wine. Thankfully, this is not a problem for me. I thought I was doing the right thing by eating only whole grain breads, and the list from my doctor says no whole grain breads or cereals.
Thanks again.
