Yesterday Tiny received one dose of Lysodren, 1/4 pill. She actually vomited a few times the day before she ever received it. The vet said don't give her any dinner that night until her belly settles down, and then Wednesday give her the first dose.
This morning my stepfather called me and told me he had to take Tiny to the hospital before 8:30 this morning. She had vomited huge amounts in the kitchen apparently overnight, very early in the morning. She was weak and would not go outside, and of course would not eat the rice my stepfather put in her dish. The vet had recommended a bland diet since she had vomited on Tuesday. Tiny walked down the hall this morning and went under the bed. My stepfather went to check on her a few minutes later, and he thought she had died. When he moved the bed to get her out she moved. He took her immediately to the animal hospital.
The vet said she was extremely dehydrated, and after drawing more blood found she has pancreatitis as well. She said her liver is somewhat enlarged. I know this can happen with Cushing's as well.
Today I ordered the NuVet Plus Canine pills for her that are ALL NATURAL. People are reporting their dogs with Cushing's have improved very significantly on these supplements. They were not made with Cushing's in mind, but the woman said when given a double dose each day they are receiving remarkably encouraging feedback.
Today I was up at the house and walked out in Tiny's yard. I saw her toys scattered around the sun porch, and behind her daddy's chair in the TV room where she likes to play. I pray we can bring her home again, and I think after receiving the IV fluids and replenishing her electrolytes, along with antibiotics, etc. she is bound to feel better.
Please keep us in your thoughts. She is so very precious to us. We are 100% positive we will give NO MORE POISON CHEMICALS to her. I think the vomiting prior to the administration of the one dose of Lysodren was most likely due to pancreatitis, which they are now treating.
Thank you, all of you who care.
To Shipwrecked: You wanted a description of our little one. Send some positive thoughts her way, please. Thanks for your concern and support. I appreciate everyone on the board who is concerned for her.
She is a Chihuahua/Fox Terier Mix. She has the beautiful prominent dark brown eyes and very large ears, and the darling little crook in her tail, all characteristics of the Chihuahua. Her front feet point outward, also like the Chihuahua. She is tri-colored with a black back, brown head, and white chest and legs. Her tail is black and white on the tip. She is larger than a Chihuahua, but still a small dog. She has lost over a pound in two days.
I will let you know how she is doing. I am tired now. I took a Xanax to help me sleep. She needs to see me again, and I need to tell her again how much I love her.
