Contact Lens question

Posted: Mar 1, 2011

I went to the eye doctor last week and it turns out I needed glasses.  I decided to go for contact lenses and I went for my contact lens appointment on Friday.  At first, I thought that they helped my vision, but my prescription glasses came in yesterday and when I put them on it was a huge difference.  I can actually see everything!  It was great.  This morning, I put my contact lenses back on and it just feels like I can't see as well as I can with my glasses on.  It might be slightly better than without my contact lenses, but not much.

My question is is this normal?  I have never worn contact lenses before, so I am not sure if my eyes need to get used to them before I can see better with them in or if maybe I need a different brand or a different prescription?  As far as I know, my contact lens and glasses prescription are the same.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

I wear contacts and, yes, sometimes the prescription for glasses and contacts do not match. Pure speculation, but it could have something to do with the way the lens sits on the eye. Also, there can be a difference from brand to brand, or types of material. BTW, your question was well written and could be used almost verbatim to ask your doc/office staff about this.

Thanks -

I do have an appointment on Friday for my contact lens followup, but I was just wondering if this is normal or if everyone goes through this while their eyes are getting used to wearing contacts. It doesn't seem normal to me, but having never worn contacts before I wasn't sure.

Thanks for your help!

Do you have astigmatism? sm - mtmtmt

I do, and I can see better with my glasses than with contacts. I have toric lenses (the ones with the weight at the bottom so they sit in your eye a certain way), and they help somewhat. I'm also 52, so I have distance problems, too. My eye doctor has me in one lens for close and one for far, so most of the time I don't have to wear reading glasses. I get by as best I can, because I'm too vain to wear glasses. Good luck!

I haven't been told that I have astigmatism -

I went back to the eye doctor last Friday and he told me that you can't see as well with contacts as you can with my glasses...Is that true? That doesnt' make sense to me. He also gave me a new set of contacts and I can see better with them than I could with the other ones but still not as good as I can see with my glasses.

Job Application Wants Me To Contact HR? (non-MT))Oct 28, 2014
Last week I applied for a position in a hospital (not an MT position). I submitted my application and resume online via their website. Today I looked at my application status and it says "Please contact Human Resources." Now, I have only held a few jobs in my life, so maybe this is the way they do it now... but does that seem strange to anyone else that they want ME to get in touch with THEM? Any other time I have applied for a position, HR contacted me to set up an interview. And the kicker: ...

Should I Contact H's Estranged Brother?Oct 30, 2009
Just a long story short, MIL and H's dad divorced when H was about 3 months old.  H never had many relations with his dad except 1 visit the whole time until he turned 18.  FIL did have another child, a boy, after his marriage to MIL.  Well, 6 months ago that son, H's half brother, called MIL and wanted to contact H to tell him their father was dying.  I was there listening to MIL's end of the conversation and she was pretty hostile towards the boy, now a man ( ...

Who To Contact In Mgt In Restaurant DisputeNov 11, 2012
I had dinner last month at a popular restaurant chain and ordered (ok, so it was breakfast that evening) country ham and 2 pancakes. When I got the ham it looked to be the size of a child's serving. I called the manager over and said I eat there quite frequently and usually served a full serving of ham. He replied maybe the server thought I wanted the half serving?? I ordered country ham, nothing more, nothing less and there is no half serving listed. The manager took my ticket (origin ...

I'm always facinated at some people who think all social problems and situations are so black and white.Abortion is here to stay, whether it's legal or not, just like it's always been an option when a woman finds herself facing the impossible situation of an unwanted pregnancy. Wishing it wasn't an option has never worked. However, when a discussion comes up about abortion, we women are strictly divided. Black and White in our opinions. This is a complicated issue. It doesn ...

Cat Question Aug 05, 2011
Don't know if you remember my last posts awhile back about a stray cat we started feeding and took care, gave her shelter for the winter and she had kittens.  We've taken the kittens in and adore them all.  Now...here she is 3 or 4 months later, every once in awhile I'll get a glimpse of her nursing them.  Vet told us milk has to be dried up before they can fix her.  However, she is a stray and she has been going out walking around the neighborhood like she has ...

QuestionMar 22, 2010
Okay, here is a question that I have not seen come up here.  While watching news today this just crossed my mind.  If the government sets an insurance rate you have to pay based upon what you make per year, do they take into account all your other bills, and that sometimes as ICs we don't get any work coming in at times, and then what they set is more than what you can afford (i.e. more money than your paycheck and you still have to pay all your bills).  As ICs I'm sure ...

E-Bay QuestionNov 19, 2013
Hi everyone, I absolutely love Swarovski Crystal, in particular their earrings. I have a couple of pairs that I paid full price for, but they are too expensive. (Earrings run from $60-$300+.) I saw that E-Bay has a really nice selection, and you can just do a Buy Now for way under market price--I'm not into the bidding thing, BTW. Thing is, how do I REALLY know it's Swarovski? My family and I are selling our house and moving out of state, but our house is going to sell before we actually move, so we have to rent a house for about 6 months.  So, I went to look at a house over the weekend and was amazed!  For $1300 a month, it was a 3 bedroom house, very old, and a total wreck.  I mean, dirt everywhere (did they ever clean??), cats roaming and the smell!  Just amazing what a dump it was, which is a shame because it could be a gorgeous house.  So ...
