I love brussel sprouts - wheres_my_job

There is a recipe from this "cat mystery series" cookbook, for brussel sprouts with bacon and a few other things - really want to try that recipe, buy one of those stalks of brussel sprouts, where they're still attached to the stem or stalk or whatever it is.

I also have a red cabbage recipe, sweet and sour, I want to try.

Sorry don't have recipes right in front of me handy.

LOVE the pumpkin muffins you're talking about! - Unbelievably good

There was also a great blueberry muffin recipe and one for tropical muffins. It was/is totally worth all headaches of being an MT just to find this board with those recipes! I was the worst muffin maker in the world, but no more. Now, if only someone could find a really good recipe for some cranberry muffins or cranberry bread, I could stick out MTing for a couple of more years...

Cranberry bread recipes - take your pick - wheres_my_job

I always just use the recipe on the bag of cranberries you buy at the store - it works pretty well - or the recipe in the Betty Crocker cookbook. My sister's favorite.

That's the recipe I use too - It comes out perfect

I also use the recipe on the back of the Ocean Spray cranberry bag, and also use the recipe on the back for the homemade cranberry sauce. Both delicious.

If you're referring to the Betty Crocker cookbook my sister has, that thing is BOMB. Every single candy/confection recipe I have attempted has turned out perfect every time. It's my orange cooking bible, LOL!
I was watching this New Orleans cooking show.. - wheres_my_job

Big ham, etc - THEN he had chocolate pecan fudge - big SLABS of it on a silver tray. OH C'MON!

Anyway, I remember one year my grandma made fudge AND gave us some of her homemade fruitcake. All my life I've wanted to recreate that experience - fudge AND fruitcake!

That's disgusting, isn't it? LOL. I've made fruitcake before, but have never tried making fudge.

I like Betty Crocker cookbook too. I even got a paperback '70s copy of it - it had some recipes in it that don't appear in the orange cookbook.

Graham Cracker Fruit Cake Try it - you might like it

Anyone Have A Good Veggie Dish Recipe For Thanksgiving To ShareNov 13, 2009
There is just two of us.  I usually make his grandmother's recipe (cheesy green bean/corn dish), but want to make something different.  He doesn't like that green bean casserole with the onion topping that is usually the norm at T.G.  Just would like some different ideas of things you usually have and like. ...

Wish Me Luck. I'm Cooking For Thanksgiving For The First Time In YearsNov 19, 2010
I used to make Thanksgiving dinner for 15 people, friends and family, until the kids left home and mom and her boyfriend died, and friends moved away. Then there was just 2 of us. With my job, working Thanksgiving day was no big deal and I always worked that day, so DH would order takeout turkey dinners  from a local restaurant so I wouldn't have to worry about cooking. This year, there was a good price on turkey. Since I am not working, I decided to make dinner.   ...

Time Share NightmareSep 08, 2012
My stepfather purchased a time share property many years ago.  I think he and my mom used it a total of three times. For years now he has been attempting to sell the time share.  Three years ago I went with him to meet with a representative who told my SF the property was now out of his name.  (After my SF gave him a check that day for $4,000.)   It never happened.  Two and one-half years ago I took a phone call up at the house when he was not home.  ...

So hard to have something for everyone. Plan on ham, potatoes, chicken salad, perhaps party pizza, some pastry, usual snacking and soft drinks - no soda allowed. Help me! Thanksgiving EveNov 25, 2009
I am thankful that during these hard times we were wise enough to elect a steady hand at the wheel. I am optimistic that things will get better in the coming year. ThanksgivingOct 10, 2011
I know it's a little early but i'm a planner.  What do you usually do at Thanksgiving?  This will be new for me as it is now just me and my 10-y/o son.  In the past he'd usually go hunting with his dad and I'd cook/bake all day.  They'd come home with any "wayward" buddies for dinner.  My parents live 4 hours away and I'm not really too keen on just sitting around staring at eachother or the TV (as what happens with any other visit). Any id ...

ThanksgivingOct 31, 2012
I know it's a month away but can you all share with me your "normal" plans for Thanksgiving?  My parents live too far away so it will be just me and my 11 year old son by ourselves this year.  I want to make it special since this will also be his first Thanksgiving without his dad but cooking a huge turkey and the works seems like it will be a waste of food.  Suggestions/ideas? ...

Here's What I'll Do For Thanksgiving,Nov 01, 2012
Our OKC homeless shelter has an adjunct service to help take care of pets of homeless people.  I frequently donate to that.  While the homeless people get their Thanksgiving meal, they need people to volunteer taking care of the pets, feeding them, playing with them, etc.  I'm not a people person.  I will volunteer for this.  ...

So How Was Everybody's Thanksgiving?Dec 01, 2013
On Thanksgiving I cooked for my cats, then worked and ran out of work after 4 hours and watched TV and took PTO.  We got together the day after and I spent the day with my sister's family.  I can't believe how big my great-great-nieces and nephews are getting.  The oldest is 4, the youngest is just under 7 months.  I have a hard time believing how grown up everybody is and realizing we (my sister and I) aren't even the old ones anymore, the kids ...

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone. (sm)Nov 26, 2009
I know we often disagree on this board, but I hope that everyone -- liberal, conservative or in between -- has a wonderful, safe and happy Thanksgiving. If you're spending it with your relatives (as you might do every year and sometimes dread doing so), try to look at them in a new light and be grateful you still have your family. If you have no family, cook a meal and invite a neighbor or someone who also has no family to share your meal with you. It might wind up being your best Tha ...

Thanksgiving PrayerNov 26, 2009
The holidays can be very stressful and depressing.  God bless those who don't have a warm meal today.  God bless those who don't have a place to stay.  God bless those who don't have family to be with today.  God bless people who are depressed and stressed out because today isn't turning out they way they planned.  It is my prayer that all who read this can spread this message of love and peace so no one feels alone or bad today.  Today, I am th ...

All these recipes sound great - but I can't eat them. I have to (want to) get my weight down - haven't baked anything since July, food diary, all that jazz. Also nonfat yogurt (yes, I took the plunge from lowfat to nonfat yogurt and skim milk from 2%). Organic "only peanuts" peanut butter. Oliv ...

Wishing All MTs A Happy ThanksgivingNov 22, 2012
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. ...It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. ... It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.–Melody Beattie ...
