I was watching a cooking program on publlic TV and found out how to make the Perfect baked potato. I tried it, and it IS perfect. All you do is preheat the oven for as high as it goes - I use 540. Wash the potato and cook it for 1 hour. Do not prick, oil, or wrap in foil! The skin is crunchy, and the middle soft and creamy. Great if you want to scoop out the middle for twice-baked recipes, but I like it with browned melted butter, salt, and pepper.
