Perfect timing

Posted: Jun 29, 2014

I'm so sick of hearing of "God's perfect timing."  All my life I've waited on it, and I'm sick of it.  It's my life and I know what I want.  I know he didn't put me on this earth to be alone.  I'm 62 years old and still single, for crying out loud.  I'm just tired of the whole darn thing.  There.  Got if off my chest.

Whoa! - I hear ya!

I appreciate your honesty! My suggestion (although you didn't ask for it) would be to wait actively and not passively. Put yourself in the path of possibility. A friend of mine, age 63, signed up with Christian Mingle.com. After 3 potential relationships failed to really take root, she kept looking. Number 4 was the winner... she married an M.D. who thinks she makes the sun rise every morning. They're hoping to have years and years to travel and enjoy each other. I'm kind of envious because I can't imagine having that kind of security.

I'm sort of in your shoes, so I'm not unsympathetic. Some days it bothers me more than others. Today, for instance, not so much; tomorrow, maybe a lot. Like my friend, though, I want to be wise enough to wait for a man who brings something to the table instead of settling for a guy who wants to be rescued.

Keep the faith! There's hope...I promise!

Take control of your life - see msg

I'm not sure I understand. Are you just sitting back and waiting for God to send someone to your door?

We all have to take control of our own lives. We can turn certain things over to Him, but He wants us to do some work, too--besides praying and hoping.

To a certain degree, I know how the OP feels. I didn't get married until I was in my mid 30s. He's a good guy, doesn't do anything bad, has a lot of good qualities. However, I wish I would've had a crystal ball and had never gotten married. I figured marriage had to be better than being single as so many people are married. I long for the days when I don't have to cook, clean up after somebody, always think of somebody else, compromise all the time, etc. To me, it's like having a kid (and I don't want kids and don't have any). Think of how good you have it now! I could go on and on about what you're NOT missing by being single. If you're lonely, join groups/activities for things that interest you. If you really want to get married, just be wise like the other person responded. Be picky and be careful. Don't let anybody use you for your money or anything else. I hope you get lucky the other poster's friend who waited and married an M.D. who adores her.

I agree with you - I don't think

that you are supposed to be alone either. Maybe it is your time and that is why you are sick of it. I am a couple years younger than you and I am in the same situation, but I feel that will change. I ask God to help me be the person someone would love forever and to put me in the right circumstances to meet that person. I believe He is going to do that.

Clarify for me - see question pls

I'm the poster who advised the OP to take control of her life.

I don't understand your goal. I understand asking Him to help you become a better person, but I don't understand Him putting you in the right circumstances. Are you waiting to be teleported somewhere? Sorry, not trying to be facetious, but I think too many people just sit and wait for something to happen by Him, then are sad and lonely and don't understand why.

We have to do something, is the way I see it. Not wait around and wait for Him to do it.

The Perfect Baked PotatoDec 31, 2011
I was watching a cooking program on publlic TV and found out how to make the Perfect baked potato.  I tried it, and it IS perfect.  All you do is preheat the oven for as high as it goes - I use 540.  Wash the potato and cook it for 1 hour.  Do not prick, oil, or wrap in foil!  The skin is crunchy, and the middle soft and creamy.  Great if you want to scoop out the middle for twice-baked recipes, but I like it with browned melted butter, salt, and pepper.  ...

Hello:  just having a mini breakdown about car problems. My van is in the shop and I have to pay $500 deductible for repairs from an accident. They want help to repair their cars, and I told them no. This is a long story but I can not help them, and it does make me sad but I have my own money woes. My niece i ...

Perfect Example Of Liberal BS Is Their Fake Concern AboutNov 17, 2016
I don't know how liberals llive with themselves.  Honestly, I don't.  Not because of their positions, but because their positions make no sense.  Start anywhere you like with the so-called "liberal agenda" and you'll find staggering contradictions.  So, for instance, the very people who have done the most to destroy the value of family in society offer "the family" as one of their main emotional arguments with respect to illegal immigration. Yes, I said it - ...
