My older daughter lives in a part of town where there are a lot of people who may have come across the border to live in the US. She told me yesterday the county should charge garbage pickup service charges on your property tax (she said if they pay taxes). She tells me where she lives the people (not her, she pays for her sanitation charges) throw garbage out in the street so naturally it eventually has to be picked up by the sanitation department. We are talking about a fast rising county in this state. Imagine trying to go around garbage to drive somewhere, anytime it is garbage pickup time. How nasty is that? If I did something like that, you better believe I would be arrested.

I'm speaking in generalities, of course, as we all are, but I'll take immigrants over homies any day in terms of co workers or neighbors.

[ In Reply To ..]just am not up with the terminology you are using, as in 2nd and 3rd chollos, does that mean here in the US legally, illegally or just what? My daughter did not do enough research before moving where she did. The very first time DH and I went there, looking around we were having that hmmmm what was she thinking moment. She has no problem with the people living there, but the nastiness of the people.

Chollo is a fairly derogatory term used for those who come from immigrants, but have been born here and who tend to be the ones who wear the baggy saggy pants down to their knees, the big oversized shirts, etc.
Again, I'm speaking in generalities, but those would more likely be the ones to have the trash thrown everywhere and have their homes look like cr*p. The immigrants I know would never allow that to happen.
