I refuse to credit that thing with anything good.

Alaska's Permanent Fund was established by a constitutional amendment passed by voters in 1976 requiring a portion of state oil revenues be put into a savings account to be available for the distant future, when North Slope oil fields are tapped out.

That's nice. But have you verified all the other guff about - less crime, able-bodied working etc?

If you look at statistics, you won't find evidence of the outcomes that you cite from all this largesse.

It's really not hard to think all the way through things rather than leaping to conclusions. In this case, you'll need to (a) discover when the Alaskan oil revenue distribution began, and (b) compare statistical trends in crime, etc. before and after the distribution began.

Might be two hours of work. Unfortunately, even that is more trouble than many these days can bear. They just talk because talking's cheap. Knowing what you're talking about, not so much.

Hopefully, you're not one of them and looking forward to the proof that Alaska's oil money giveaway has had all these salutary benefits.

My normally well-behaved 4-year-old takes a martial arts class.  For months, the instructors have been allowing him to act like a monster. I have asked them time and time again to please not allow him to act up, only to be met with, "He's only 4.  You expect too much.  He is just being a little kid." I usually sit and watch to keep him manageable, at least.  The instructor's 15-year-old son also helps teach the class and he play fights with my son, allowing my son t ...

Attention-seeking Mother-in-lawSep 22, 2013
So, my MIL is 100% in her right mind and she is VERY attention-seeking lately.  She has always been one to like to keep the pot stirred and get attention that way as well.  She has a few medical problems, including a seizure disorder and she is always really good about taking her meds and such.  Well, lately, her new thing is when someone doesn't jump for her the minute she says jump she threatens to stop taking her meds.  She says there is no reason to take them anymore ...

Seeking Advice From Armchair Psychologists. Feb 17, 2016
After almost 30 years of MTing, I want out. Making my state's min wage and taking care of an elderly parent on said min wage is a struggle. A few better-paying office opportunities have popped up locally, but I don't even apply because I think of what *could* go wrong. A page position in a library: What if I have to toss out a homeless or mentally unstable person because of patron complaints? The guilt would haunt me. A front desk position at a community mental health clinic: What if t ...

Just curious the best places to search other than nolo.com, google, etc. I am trying to learn as much as possible about "opposing counsel," right down to politics, , you name it. I've found a couple things so far.  Personally, this lawyer has been a rotten egg from day one re my divorce. Thanks a million (which we'll never get paid)! PS:  Another thing I've notices is not getting replies to my posts (yes, the box is checked).  The only one was that con artist fo ...
