i have decided to go to church in the morning. i have been to church 2 times in my whole life but have decided to give it a shot. i am kind of nervous but also excited!!!

I didn\\\'t end up going to church today because I was looking at our bible last night and it kind of freaked me out. I didn't like the fact that it said that a lot of the things I do day to day would make me go to hell. I know that they are totally accepting of anyone in church, but my family never was really big on the bible or going to church. I have always believed in God, and I know for a fact that that is the reason I am still here - I should have been dead many times, but I believe in my heart that he is keeping me here for a reason. I just don\\\'t know what it is yet. I also have never read the bible or anything (I got confused and gave up every time I tried to read it) and I think I would just feel stupid there. I have decided to go next Sunday though.

[ In Reply To ..]I've done things deserving of hell. We all have. The only difference is that if we ask Jesus for forgiveness, He will forgive us and we can be assured that when we die, we will be with Him.

[ In Reply To ..]I think alot of people give up on reading the bible because of not understanding it. But as a bible reader and teacher myself, I assure you that you are not going to hell. I know the bible says God is love (1 John 4:8) It also says we are made in his immage (Genesis 1:27) If you child done something not quite right, would you burn him to death? Why would God do that to us? I hate that religion uses Hell to scare people into worshiping God the way they say to. God wants us to worship him because he loves us and wants the best for us!

My church even has an iCampus for people that have moved or just can't make it to any of the services. I'm working today so can't make it to church. :-(

[ In Reply To ..]Not to be a bummer but, this week ---1. Got wicked virus, crashed computer, lost important files.
2. Got upsetting email from work late Friday afternoon with new rules.
3. Found our old German Shepard dead in the kitchen.
But despite all this, I have such peace of mind and was so uplifted at church this morning (as every sunday). I don't know how people can survive without FAITH.
Rejoicing with you as you take the step to church (sometimes scary). Praying you will find it a meaningful experience.
Like the song says -- many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand, but I know who holds tomorrow and I know who holds my hand. :-)

I just finished reading a wonderful book, - MommaTyper
[ In Reply To ..]The Shack, which I checked out from my local library. Even though I have gone to church all my life, reading this book gave me a whole new perspective concerning God. As someone mentioned earlier, if your child misbehaves, do you want to burn them for it? No, because you love your child(ren). And as much as you love your child(ren), God loves his more. I think church is a wonderful place to be and I find comfort and support from the people who go, but not all churches are the same. You may need to go to a few churches before you find one you really feel comfortable going to. I'll be praying that you find the 'perfect' church for you.
