SS Retirement - Life is rough Posted: Dec 21st, 2019 - 11:15 am In Reply to: SS Retirement and Stuff - see msg
I might be confused about when benefits kick in. I reach full retirement age in July 2020 and wanted to time it so that I could get benefits and continue working without being penalized and they told me 4 months in advance and that the benefits would begin July 1, but I suppose it’s different depending on the situation. Thanks for the background on the State of Florida. I’m self supporting and some times it’s difficult to make my paycheck stretch, as I’m sure you know. I’ve never been homeless, but I’ve been through it all with repair bills on older cars and some life situations that I had to resolve on my own. Both my parents died when I was young, and the mother stories are to generate sympathy. Truthfully, I’m resentful in regard to someone being handed money to get bailed out every time a car payment, a repair or insurance bill needs to be paid, and as long as people continue, I guarantee the pattern will continue, it’s a perfect example of enabling. Living in the van was her idea when she lost her MT job. She owned the van outright and then did this equity loan because she needed cash. Maybe the vagabond thing seemed glamorous at the time but then reality kicked in. Anyway, all we can do is offer prayers and hope she finds her way out of her current situation.
