Suicide bomber attacks U.S. Embassy in Turkey

Posted: Feb 1, 2013

A Turkish guard was killed but no American was killed this time but how much longer is the government going to pretend these are random acts.

You don't worry that terror acts are picking up? You don't worry that AQ has once again threatened ALL Americans here and abroad? You don't take any threats against us seriously?

Your post contributed NOTHING to the subject.

I'm getting a little sick of the accusations posters like you make just because you don't like the OP. Time to quit acting like you're above reproach. Get off your high horse and contribute something useful to the board. Nope -- you would rather just attack the posters. Why don't you join the service so you can attack something or someone worth attacking.

Sorry - sm

How do you know it's a random attack and how do you know someone allowed it and how do you know it might have been averted and could have been worse?

Sorry... it just sounded like you were blaming America right off the bat for something they didn't do and that you personally have no first-hand knowledge of.

Are we AQ? Why not blame them. Are we responsible for every thing they do?

Has the House of Representatives let go of the money the State Department requested that has already been designated/allocated to protect embassies overseas, but not let go of?

Protection costs money.

I wouldn't want to be casting stones on this one.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't categorize any embassy attack as random. People don't get bored and decide to attack an embassy. They are deliberate and planned events. I just don't understand what you're saying.

Every second of every day Al-Qaeda and dozens of other terrorist organizations want us dead. They don't have to send out a new video for us to know they still hate us. We drew their blood and they drew ours, it's war for as long as those individuals are alive and likely beyond.

As for worrying about increased terrorist attacks, all things come in waves. They'll taper off. No one likes terrorist attacks. No one doesn't worry about them. But like all fears, they have to be grounded with logic and courage. I'm way more worried about car accidents, accidental electrocution, slip and falls, getting shot by a hillbilly, public speaking, etc.

Even if we are in an upswing of terrorism, what can we do? Every day we face the possibility of an attack. In the end, all we can do is keep living until we actually do get blown up.

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." -Franklin D. Roosevelt (the guy faced down and beat polio, the Depression and the largest war in human history, so if anybody should know about fear it would be him.)
and there have been no foreign terrorist - attacks on US soil
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm sure that's not just luck. I bet we'll never know, not anytime soon that is, how many attacks were planned by foreign terrorists, but nixed by the intelligence community under the Obama Administration. I think we owe that fact a little respect.
You're very right - Fanatical Hypocrite

It's a shame that all the people out there stopping attacks and protecting this country don't get any credit because it's all classified.

His strength on handling terrorism was my biggest surprise in the Obama administration. I didn't think he would do a bad job, but wow. For all Bush's talk about hunting down terrorists, I feel a lot safer under Obama. He really took off the kid gloves. And I didn't expect that in the least. I voted for him purely for domestic policy reasons.

remarks from the ambassador - tvc15

I read the article, and I also watched the link of the ambassador's broadcast from the embassy. In it, he thanks the Turkish police for their prompt response and goes on to say that they feel safe at the embassy.

I didn't see anything about the government characterizing this event as a random act.

Same song, second verse from GOP foreign policy - broken record.

It's what they do to "rally" their base. No one else is listening to this off-key refrain.

are you talking about the original post? - tvc15

The only off-key refrain I heard was this one: "how much longer is the government going to pretend...."

Russian Embassy In UK Responds To Sanctions OfDec 30, 2016
The Russian response to Barack Obama’s announcement that he was expelling 35 diplomats over the alleged cyber attack on the US election, was fast, and in some cases, rather amusing. As officials in Moscow said that US diplomats would be ordered to leave in a tit-for-tat response, the Russian Embassy used Twitter to make its point with little panache. “President Obama expels 35 🇷iplomats in Cold War deja vu. Everybody, including the American people, will be glad to see the last of th ...

What About Iraq War Veterans Committing Suicide??? May 29, 2012
I just watched a TV documentary about new war veterans coming back from Iraq.  They say that every day at least 28 veterans are committing suicide.  This is truly shocking news.  I am wondering if their statistics are really accurate.  They say that only 33% are approved to receive PTSD benefits.  There is not enough money in their budget to approve all the claims.  I used to transcribe Veteran's health care reports and know that there are many mental heal ...

Washing A TurkeyNov 20, 2014
We got going on a discussion below about Thanksgiving disasters, and the conversation got to washing turkeys before cooking them. This is not a good practice. You can spread more salmonella and other bacteria washing raw poultry. All it does is splatter rawness in the sink, on the faucets, on the counters, on your clothes, etc. Cooking to the proper temperature (165 degrees at the fattest part of the breast) kills anything you are concerned about. ...

Teens Who Only Like Turkey, No Veggies/smNov 19, 2012

Should I include a homemade version of mac and cheese with my meal? There is no way I will go with the packaged stuff they usually eat. It's either that or to see them with a little turkey only on their plates. Hopefully they will change over the years.
