I am also curious about how Obamacare is killing our economy. I also agree that the state of the economy is not President Obama's fault. This mess was thrown at him and it's going to take a lot to get the economy going in the right direction.

It has started partially. My 19-year-old and 22-year-old college kids are now covered by insurance. Big relief, let me tell ya.

College kids have always had the option of being covered on their parents' insurance. If not covered on their parents, they could get it through school. My kids were in college 10 years ago and that was in place then.

When I went to college, I was dropped from my mothers policy because I chose to move out to an apartment. The so-called college insurance only partially covered stuff like colds and the flu at a high cost with a high deductible. No hospitalization of any sort.

This is part of HCR and was one of the first provisions that was phased in early on.

In the past kids were dropped from parents' policies - Very helpful change!

This has been a big problem for families for years. I'm glad to see that changed. I'd like to see more common-sense changes, by people on both sides of the aisle. It doesn't matter to me who does it. Just make some common-sense decisions. I am learning not to just throw out an idea because a Republican thought of it.

If in college, the individual is considered a dependent child and is covered under parents' insurance.

HCR changes apply to ALL dependent children whether they are in college - or not. sm

It raised the age restritions. Before HCR, coverage was only available to dependents NOT in college up to age 19. It applied to FULLTIME students up to the age of 23, not parttime. Some insurance companies were able to further restrict coverage to them by applying narrow definitions as to what is considered dependent and imposed other qualifying criteria. HCR raised the age across the board to 26 and removed these previously imposed restrictions. As you can see, it broadened access to coverage for these groups.

I was denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition. Through healthcare reform, I now am able to buy AFFORDABLE insurance for myself.

That change came too late for me, but I am so happy others - dont have to worry about

I'm very happy that other people don't have to worry about pre-existing conditions. I had to pray that I would stay healthy long enough to reach Medicare age. I wasn't insurable. You would think that I had some dread disease. I didn't. I have high blood pressure, completely controlled by medication. Pre-existing condition. Insurance premiums out of my reach. I went years with no insurance. I'm glad others won't have to go through what I went through.

Members of Congress were not friendly to those fat cat oil company presidents. The hearing didn't go well for them. I think we'll see some changes there before long. It takes time to go through the system, but it's in progress. Not a moment too soon, either.

the one oil company stated that they paid $40 in taxes during 2010. Don't know what taxes they paid, if it was federal, severance, state, property, or local taxes. I just didn't care to watch a circus because we know it's not gonna happen.

I think things have been put in motion when they haven't made it that far in the past. I have hope that this time common sense will prevail and those subsidies (corporate welfare) will be stopped. It may take some time. Nothing like that happens very fast, but I think it will happen. Strange that I'm rooting against the oil companies when most of my future lies with their success.
