If you anticipate people will call you a racist, you probably are

Posted: May 12, 2015

If you are getting angry because you can't say what you want about race? Definitely a racist. Because nonracists don't ever worry about things like that. Now if you post on subjects from a racial perspective with intent to provoke, not only is that racist in and of itself, but the fact that you enjoy provoking reaction and then play the victim when people do? Well, you're not just racist, but a the very definition of a bully as well. But you know what's true about bullies, don't you? They're just junkies needing a fix. Don't react emotionally and you detox the junkies (or they go somewhat else to get their fix;) Otherwise, interesting the subject of religion came up in the same threads on racism, isn't it? I'm not sure if we have the same father in heaven and his son or not, do you think we do? Because neither my father in heaven, nor his son, would consciously and repeatedly push the buttons and boundaries using known derogatory and racial slurs just to get a reaction, nor play the victim when people did react and try to get the reactors in trouble. Neither my father in heaven, nor his son, would criticize someone just because as an African-American, they gave a speech to an historically African-American University and admitted they felt hurt by a cartoon depiction of themselves with an Afro and a machine gun in New Yorker magazine and call THEM "racist" for mentioning there are extra hurdles they may need to overcome. Neither my father in heaven, nor his son, would state as fact things he knows are questionable or untrue to deceive others over politics or money. Neither my father in heaven, nor his son, would lie about other commenters here just because they disagreed with him, nor stand by and watched them bullied over politics, and especially he wouldn't stand by and watch his adult friends do that to others over politics or money. Neither my father in heaven, nor his son, would leave 2 or 3 responses to the same commenter, pretending to be different people, just to make them feel ganged up against, just because she (AKA as Burt the Cat) wrote a beautifully compassionate comment encouraging others to think about what it feels like to "walk in others shoes" regarding race, and they definitely wouldn't call HER a racist for doing so. Though my father and his son may use parables or warn of consequences for our own good, they would not knowingly use untrue or questionable stories, stating them fact, to manipulate people into panic for political or financial gain. Because though my father may be tough in warning us with consequences, he is till our father who loves us and wants what's best for us; he wouldn't intentionally create confusion, chaos, panic, anger, shame or pain in his children. No, the book about my father and his son says only the father who would do something like that is the "Father of Lies", who has come to kill, steal and destroy; but my father and his son instead came to give us ALL life and that more abundantly :) So for those who have been treated in the above ways here by those who call themselves Christians, over politics, I an SO sorry. But please realize this - though they think they're justified or got away with it because no one saw? The book about our father says he did - as well as that when it's time for them to meet him, though they think they're safe just because they believe? Many will come and cry "Lord, Lord, see what we did for you in your name?". But it's precisely because of evil done in his name he will instead turn to them and say: "Depart from me, I never knew you, ye workers of iniquity." So try to remember if you see people calling themselves Christians, but instead do the above things in his name? They have NOTHING to do with MY father... his son told us so...they're just showing you who their real father is instead ;) ;

I disagree with the first sentence. One can anticipate - being called a racist

[ In Reply To ..]
simply by disagreeing with any of Obama's policies.

Being a Christian does not mean going through - life deaf, dumb and blind,

[ In Reply To ..]
and it's okay to say the president is dishonest if you don't trust anything he says.

Metaphorically "deaf, dumb, and blind" perhaps? - sm

This poster said: "... it's okay to say the president is dishonest if you don't trust anything he says."

Just my opinion, but this attitude of not trusting "anything" the president says is like having all your senses but choosing to turn them off and be unreasonable, kind of like the conservative strategy of "no compromise" that was the GOP party line and strategy from day 1 of Obama's presidency, followed by their publicly stated number 1 priority of making Obama a 1-term president.

After having spent years and years on the receiving end of this "no compromise" and criticize everything the president does strategy from conservatives, I hope the bozos riding in the clown car are ready for the reaping of what they've sowed........ beep, beep.
I can just picture the college student with a Che - Guevara shirt say clown car,

"Either side"? Imagine a world where there are many sides..... - since we're living in it.

You said: "I can just picture the college student with a Che Guevara shirt say clown car, beep beep. Guess it's cool to think that condescension is a form of discussion. I don't like it from either side."

I admit I have seen the straw man argument many times before, but it is rare indeed to see it presented complete with clothing depicting a Marxist. Ironically, however, conservatives are not going to convince very many people that they don't like condescension as a form of discussion by using patronizing analogies like "college student" and "Che Guevara shirt" in order to feign true discussion and debate.

The multidimensional GOP/Tea Party/Republican/Conservative bunch containing the Canadian Cuban Rafael Eduardo Cruz whose father actually fought alongside Fidel Castro and his buddy Che Guevara would be wise not to toss out visual reminders of candidate Cruz's origins since it reminds us all that "Ted" is a foreign born Harvard elitist and socialist sympathizer like his father who was sent here by communists in order to infiltrate our country from within and set about the task of fundamentally transforming America.

You reap what you sow.... if you know what I mean..... beep, beep.

True. But we shouldn't allow dishonesty in the accused to distract us from dishonesty in the - accusers, either - OP (sm)

which is what some politicians are hoping for so they can rob you blind themselves;)

As for the bullying, who is the biggest bully in America? - Right now it's the IRS

[ In Reply To ..]
and how Obama uses it to target his enemies.

When Bill Clinton was president, I wrote letters to the editor badmouthing him. When Obama became president, whenever I'd write something criticizing him, a lot of friends and family became very scared I'd lose my job (or worse).

Questions - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
** What do you mean "or worse"?

** What do you honestly think would happen to you for writing a letter to the editor during an Obama presidency?

** What happened to you when you wrote letters to the editor about George W. Bush?

** Or did you quit writing your letters to the editor for 8 years because you thought everything Bush did was perfect and then went back to your letter writing campaign the minute a Democrat became president again in January 2009?

** Do conservatives actually believe that a Democratic president would seek to do them harm for writing a letter to a newspaper? If yes: Where would conservatives be without their perpetual fear and conspiracy theories?

I criticized Bush many times, particularly over - expanding Medicare and

[ In Reply To ..]
the Patriot Act (a slippery slope to tyranny), and everything that expanded the role of government. I've always been consistent.

But I never felt the backlash that I feel now.

I guess now that someone with a different letter next to his name is in the White House (D) it’s not cool to question handing that much power to the an over-powerful government.

I guess if our money comes before our God and conscience, that'd be true. However - my answer is right wing extremists

[ In Reply To ..]
and the Tea Party, now admittedly using Rule #5 from Saul Alinksy's "Rules for Radicals": “Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. There is no defense" (but then having the audacity to try to deflect off of it by calling anyone left of THEM an Alinksy communist).

But let's face it, EVERYONE is to the left of right-wing extremists.

Witch hunts without proof, stating things as fact that aren't to create panic as a motivator, putting everything you say in "either/or" categories regarding race, religion, economics - for what?

Ridiculing and hurting others, trying to create fear and panic, anger, confusion strife - all to gain financial and political sovereignty themselves, claiming THEIR rights are being violated if you react, is the very definition of a bully and has nothing to do with my God - waving a Christian flag to avoid hoping it will cover a multitude of sins.

It doesn't.

(Well, we WERE asked who the biggest bully in America was, and that was my opinion.)

And this thread is also about faith. And I hate to break it to some, but Christ never said you'd be rich as a Christian. He never promised he'd bless us financially because we were Christian or that God would spare us from taxes. He never said we were superior to others and it was our divine right to be in control and at the top of society. In fact, he said the opposite.

He said render under Caesar what is Caesar's. He said that to truly be saved, not only do you have believe and follow his commandments (which include loving your neighbor), but if you give away all that you have to the poor and follow him, you will be saved. He said it is easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven. He said true Christians would be persecuted for his name sake for doing his will, not for claiming to do his will, but really be thieves in his father's house over money and power.

Besides, I thought the current subject on the table was being like Denzel and expressing gratitude for what you do have, rather than what you don't or the IRS or someone else trying to keep ya down, wasn't it?

~ OP

There are Christians who can be authoritarian - but their focus is different

[ In Reply To ..]
than the left-leaning authoritarians.

The right-leaning Christians (not all of course)want people to adhere to established laws and morals. The left leaning create new laws and morals and then try to force everyone to adhere to them.

The main focus of any Christian should be.....sm - Alice

to strive to be more "Christlike" in their daily lives, in thought, word and deed. Period!

That's why the libs have so much trouble. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
They're nowhere near "Christlike." Just the opposite, in fact. The things they have changed and have attempted to change go against the grain of many, many Christ-like Christians and Jews and Muslims and other religious folk.

Judging others is not recommended. - nm

.
In other words, just not Christian enough-which is - sick-and not Christlike at all
[ In Reply To ..]
That is the problem. That Christians judge everyone else as not Christian enough. What exposure I had with the club before I grew tired of the hypocrisy and self-righteous attitudes, I had bought into that as a Christian you always think of others in ways to help them see the right way and accept Christ and then they will, hopefully, little by little, be more Christ-like.

The accusations, hopelessness and giving up has nothing to do with being Christian.
Once again, a feeble attempt at gross misrepresentation of a post. - sm

Jesus changed Pharisee/Mosaic law is he a liberal? And - religious freedom law IS changing law (OP)

[ In Reply To ..]
Jesus changed several mosaic and pharisee law to include healing on the Sabbath and Mosaic law regarding divorce (actually making it more strict). Does that make him a liberal?

I guess it depends on which Testament you're reading, Old or New and if the transition from one to the other is understood to be grace and that you can't earn entry into the kingdom of heaven no matter what you do or don't do anyway, only grace.

Yes, in the sense that anyone who wants to change the constitution or law is a liberal by the original and true definition of the meaning of that word "liberal" (broad) interpretation of the constitution.

Laws on religious freedom, abortion, women's voting rights, prohibition and it's repeal, they're all "liberal" because they weren't initially part of the constitution, sorry.
