Please pray for our household

Posted: Jun 2, 2013

MIL has lost her purse.  This is a relatively common occurrence (She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year).  But, usually we find it sooner than this time.  It might be hanging in her closet or in a spot by her bed in a corner kind of hard to see---things like this.  There were distant family members visiting yesterday, at least one of whom has a questionable history of taking things.  We mostly sat outside and talked, and only one of them went into the house that we know of.  MIL keeps her SS card, driver's license, checkbook in there (thank goodness she has no credit cards).  We have hunted and hunted and prayed and prayed.  If nothing else, it would be nice if the "thieves" return everything else but the cash.  I hope there were no thieves, but no one knows for sure.  Thank you.

;

I pray that the purse is returned and that you are helped - through the Alzheimer's ordeal

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It really is not an ordeal, YET. As I posted months ago, I researched on the Internet, and am trying coconut oil capsules the maximum dosage for her daily, and she is going along with it. I think I see some good changes in her, but hubby and others do not. Losing her purse is not a really big deal to me, as long as it is only misplaced. After all, I myself have been known to misplace my purse and/or glasses; haven't we all?! If stolen, then will have go to the bank as soon as possible Monday and see about closing her checking accounts (she has two). I myself was with her Friday, going to a local greenhouse and purchasing tomato plants and then going to the grocery store, and then coming right home. (We live with her now). I have no memory of whether or not she took her purse home because I got into the back seat after the grocery store visit so I could babysit the tomatoes in case they fell over during some sharp turns on the way home. So purse could have been left at the grocery store or else brought home. Grocery store says they have not found it. She never carries more than 200 bucks in her purse at any time. Could be a much worse problem. Anyway, thank you for prayers. I really believe God cares about these things as well as as much as larger things and I am trying to increase my "mustard seed" faith.

Thank God!!!! It was in her personal bathroom in a "cubbyhole" where she keeps miscellaneous stuff, such as toilet paper, overflow bathroom items, and plastic grocery sacks which she uses as wastebasket liners. It was under the sack of grocery sacks, which completely covered it up, hiding it. All her money and stuff appears to be intact. Thank you for your prayers. Whew !!!
Hallelujah, baby!! So glad for you. Thanks, God! - :-)

I would like to say that you are a wonderful person for caring for your MIL. Not all DILs are so thoughtful, as I can attest to firsthand.

All DILs should remember that their MIL and FIL love their son as much as the DIL loves HER own children.

Grow your "mustard seed"! God cares about every aspect of your life!

God bless you!

No more lost purses. BUT, I am in the doghouse, now. MIL is really upset with me, for something she thinks I said, but DID NOT say. Either the Alzheimer's is kicking in more rapidly now, or I am being too flippant. I am ALWAYS polite and nice to her and ALWAYS try my best to be helpful and try to do what is important to her. All winter, I bought total groceries for the household, because she did not get her car out of the garage, and we could afford to buy them anyway at that time. Now that it is nice and she is out driving a lot more, I have relaxed and have not bought very many, letting her resume buying some more of them. Anyway, a couple days ago, hubby and I went to the store and bought 100 bucks worth of groceries and restocked the freezer a bit and bought everything the household was out of. Well, today, she said she was going to the store; did we need anything. I said maybe kleenexes because I have been using a lot of them. Then I made a comment to the effect that I figured we would have leftover chili because that was the only thing in the fridge and nothing else was thawed; something to that effect. I said MIL did not eat any chili last night so it would be the first time for her. I meant nothing nasty by it; I did not even mean it to be funny.

Well, MIL and her sister come home from the store. Pretty soon hubby came to me where I was typing and said she was so mad at me she wanted us to move out as soon as we could get our situation together!!!! The way she had heard it was, " You will eat the chili and you will like it!"

I am going to have to let my conversation be "Yea" or "nae." She is taking offense at imagined insults. She resents when I point out the leftovers needing to be used up before they go bad. Hubby says that is her department, just turn a blind eye, that is not my job. Just help her when she asks for help only.

This is getting hard! She was telling hubby that she is tired of footing all the bills, etc. She DOES pay all the utilities, except for cable for my work. But, she is well able to and I thought the grocery-buying by us was a little excessive.

Anyway, thanks for being there to listen. I really hope she will not remember this tomorrow.

Household ChoreesMar 14, 2013
Hi, I just wanted to ask others, is the woman in your household responsible for all cooking, cleaning, child care, etc., or is it a combined effort with the significant other? My husband was raised with five sisters, so he did no household chores growing up.  He had to help his dad outside.  Now, him and I both work the exact same schedule and we make very close to the exact same pay, except for some evenings/nights I actually have to work late.  He never works late.  During ...

I am so dreading it.  There are 4 of us siblings.  I'm executor.  Everyone is okay with having an auction, but first they want go to through everything.  I just know after that, there won't be anything left to auction and I'll be stuck finding new homes for the rest. What I'd like to do is set a limit to everyone being allowed to have a random number of items, perhaps 10, that they would like to have. The rest if they want it bad enough could be bought at ...
