Please pray for my son

My oldest son has lost his apartment and losing his car - he can't find a job anywhere. I lost my home a year ago and find myself living in a basement apartment struggling to survive on editing pay. I really have no extra money to help my son. Please pray for a miracle for him, a job, a roof over his head and enough to eat. All of you here are in my prayers.

Have him see if there is a senior care agency around. Many of them are in desperate need of male caregivers---where you go to the home, help bathe, etc.

I am female, and the agency I work for is always looking for males---male clients feel more comfortable with a male bathing them, dressing them, etc., and this seems to be a female-oriented type of work (we're caregivers by nature).

It's the only thing that comes to mind, since it sounds like he's tried other things.

These are certainly hard times, but it always hurts me to see people who have worked all their lives, or people who are trying to find honest work in these situations. I will remember you and your son in my prayers. I wish you both a brighter future.

You sound like me. I live in a basement apartment for a 55plus community. My son and his wife keep borrowing money that I don't have. And I can't say no. I need the money I have to survive until August when I get my first SS check. I don't have enough to last me 8 months. I am on my first Tier of unemployment and because work was so bad, and they put me on part time status, I only get 168 a week and that's without paying taxes cause I need every penny right now. Looking on line is hopeless, I have been looking on line since March. A strong, able bodied young man can walk right into such places as Aldi's, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree. They pay 8 dollars an hour for 5 hours of part time pay. He can do warehouse work at Giant Eagle, packing at DHL and UPS. There are jobs and I know he probably lost his car and that makes things even worse. If you trust him with you car, let him use it. But I trusted my son and he kept my car for 6 months and when I got it back, there was no oil and he ruined my gas tank full/empty reader thing. So it always shows empty when it's full. Cause of driving on empty all the time.
I am tired of him asking me for money, and he works!! I wish I could just run away. Push your son. You are also sacrificing yourself. I see stories like this everywhere and that's what needs to be on the news. God bless you and help you both !!

Missb, you need to stop giving away money you don't have. He is not "borrowing," since it sounds like he doesn't pay it back.

Even if you were rich, you should not be giving him money. It teaches him nothing about fending for himself.

He decided he was man enough to get married, so he should be man enough to do what needs to be done. Please don't tell me they have a child as well.

I told myself I wasn't giving him any more money and then a week later, his wife asked me for 40 dollars. And I gave it to her. She later told me she was looking for a job desperately and came over to look for a job on line. She has the same problems I have trying to find a regular stupid job on line. Anyway, she kept telling me she needed to pay 135 dollars to finish paying the car payment. She was scared and said he will really get mad if he finds out she didn't pay the complete car payment cause he gave her money to pay it. So after telling me over and over, I finally just paid it over the phone. Yes, they have two kids, one is in the Navy and the other is pregnant and living with her boyfriend. But my son keeps "borrowing" money from me and tells me he will pay me back on pay day. So his habit is to pay me back and then borrow it back the next day. He owes me over 3000 dollars. That was my emergency money to get me through emergencies, of course. I know there are people much worse than me. But he has nobody else to turn to. His father, my ex-husband, died of systemic scleroderma a few years ago. My son doesnt bother me every month, but every 2 or 3 months. He says he pays 156 dollars a week in healthcare. And he barely has enough money to pay the car payment and the bills. He lives in a house for free due to foreclosure, and he says he runs out of money all the time. He used to own his own business, and times got rough in the painting business and he had no more business. My ex boyfriend found him a job spray painting and now my son has been working there for a year, but his shoulder is so bad now from keeping his arms up all day, his doctor told him he shouldn't be working there anymore. Okay, anyway, you don't want to hear all this. I just pray to God and try to have faith that everything will turn out fine. thank you all!

It sounds worse than what it is and you need to be strong.

I know parents don't like to see their kids in a rough spot, but the alternative is worse.

Try this. The next time they ask you for money say you don't have any. We had to do that to my brother. He kept asking for money then one day I just said, sorry I don't have any. I didn't care if he didn't believe me. I just told him I didn't get paid or another time I told him I paid an unexpected bill. Never make the money available to him and he'll soon get tired of asking you.

I have had swelling in my ankles and feet and legs as well as my abdomen. Have gained an awful amount of weight suddenly. My dad is having an angiogram on his leg this Thursday to see if they can put stents in to open blockages and get some blood flow back to his foot which has an ulcer that is getting worse and will only get better if they can increase circulation to the area. I do reports for a big hospital in the midwest and see a lot of cancer reports, anorexia, car accidents and sometimes I just feel so overwhelmed by it that I have to stop and pray for the people in the report.
