Yay! Court upheld Romneycare as constitutional!

Posted: Jun 28, 2012

Thank you, Supreme Court! ;

Republicans will rack up the wins now, that's for sure. - This pile of dung will be repealed.

It's quite amusing to watch the less politically-savvy Dems rejoice, when in fact there are a lot of moderate Dems in swing districts who will now have a great deal to fear.

And Obamacare can now - at long last - be characterized as the TAX that it is and always HAS been. While Obama said over and over again "This is not a tax", his own Solicitor General argued the power to tax before the Supreme Court, and they have now DECLARED it to be a tax.

The people will be energized to elect those who will repeal this horrific law - the worst legislation ever in the history of the nation.

Believe me, SCOTUS has just thrown you Dems into the deep weeds now. But don't believe me...I'll just hide and wait until November, and then I'll remind you that you read it here first.

They ONLY declared the PENALTY for not abiding by Obamacare - a tax. NM

Can't wait to see what this does to your wallet - Especially when IRS

gets thrown in the mix. What a bunch of uninformed political wannabes on this board with no insight at all. Here's a few questions for the politically challenged.

Congress opened up the door to have any BEHAVIOR or lack thereof a taxable situation - How many kids you have before tax imposed, what type of car they want you to drive or have a tax imposed, what size home you can buy or pay a tax, what type of investments you make or have a tax imposed (they already do that do some degree). Make eveything a tax...Guess so caught up in your commie spin and free for all, you can'the see you just gave away your freedom. - Oh wait, commies don'te care about freedom for others. Just absolute control.

What's going to happen when the 47%,
now taxed up the whazzo runs out of money?

What happens when the 20,000,000 now with insurance they like, get kicked from employer paid insurance because it is "cheaper" to pay the fines initially?

When all these uninsured (that were insured before Obama) hit the state polls, who is going to pay for that?

How long do you think it is going to be before the states start increasing taxes to keep up with the state polls mandated by the feds?

Why no outrage of the taxes, fines and penalities imposed because you make a FREE CHOICE not to have health care or pay cash?

Why no outrage over the fact Obamacare dictates what care you receive, when you receive, and how much you receive?

What happens when docs (Neurosurgery would get paid the same as GPs) realize they can't cover expense and close their doors? Happening in Canada - Over 70% now have to pay for additional private isurance over and above govt. insurance because of lack of coverage, no coverage, MD refusing to see cos they don't get paid...the list goes on.

Obamacare to cause massive MD shortages; who is gonna see you...your vet?

Anybody thinking Obamacare was the answer was not thinking. As another poster said...Brain dead and it is not covered by Obamancare. Guess you don't have to travel to Somalia anymore, even if it is lovely this time of year...you got the anarchists and commies in the white house.

Employer dropped it a while back. Said it was cheaper to pay the fine on us, than carry insurance. He wanted to jump on the "regs" early. Welcome to my world for all those soon to be joining me.

What makes you think trashing an existing constitutional law - is in any way more motivating than

[ In Reply To ..]
protecting it? Making this a centerpiece issue between now and the election will simply provide the opportunity for the president to, (1) focus on the merits of the plan, (2) re-present it to the voters, (3) claim credit for authoring AND enacting historically groundbreaking legislation, and (4) showcasing the law's having prevailed over failed protracted litigious constitutional challenges.

On the other hand, Romney is stuck between a rock and a hard spot (just like he was before the ruling) of promoting repeal of a law that was modeled after HIS OWN PLAN, the crown jewel of his one term as governor.

Before getting all energized, the GOP might want to ask themselves how many voters REALLY want to see Congress sworn in, only to spend months and months and more months in a divisive and contentious "repeal and replace" sour grapes effort by the GOP to further delay action on jobs and the economy so they can put THEIR brand on a similar law....like a bunch of jungle cat studs trying to mark their territory.

Not a good idea for them but, hey, by all means, full speed ahead if they must. Just don't expect dems, swing district or not, to cower in the corner quaking in their boots.

Dems are already cowering in the corner, - Yeah .."full speed ahead"

they're tripping over each other to get away from the Imperial Wizard Obama.

So they were for it before they were against it, - shunned it after Obama succeeded

[ In Reply To ..]
in transforming it into a national plan that passed in Congress, turned around and litigated it clear up to the Supreme Court while vehemently campaigning against it, and now have the utter gall to stage another about-face in an attempt to claim it as their own....as if nobody were watching. Does that about cover it?

Reminds me of those forked-tongue GOP reps and senators who tried to block the stimulus, denounce it, supported refusing the funds at a state level, then in a stunning reversal, went home and campaigned on how much better their local economies were doing because of it during the 2010 campaign.

Somehow, I don't think any of this is gonna fly in November. The GOP would do well to go back to the drawing board and start planning how their candidate is going to bluff his way through a campaign that will be all about jobs, jobs, jobs, especially since that outsourcing/offshoring red herring fell flat on its face.

I'm not trying to get a rise out of anyone here, but what do some of you recommend happen with healthcare? Something needs to change, certainly everyone can agree on that, right? We are in the healthcare field and we can see everyday what is happening. There are points to this that are bad and points that are good, but some President sometime HAD to do something about healthcare. It sucks when insurance companies dictate that they won't cover someone because of a pre-existing condition, or that in order to cover that person they have to pay a ridiculous monthly premium and have an outrageous deductible. Like I said, there are good points and bad points to this healthcare law and I'm sure the Republican party has thought of some rebuttle plan that will have both good and bad parts. We are all adults here people and in this country we have a freedom of our own opinion, so don't be calling names to those that don't agree with your opinion.

It was very politely stated and thought provoking. There were numerous plans brought by Republicans that Obama refused to acknowledged at his photo op. Some of them were very, very good ideas.

1. Pre-existing illness exclusion was a Republican idea.
2. Transportable healthcare from state to state, which increases competition and premium decreases. (Republican plan)
3. Major tort reform. (Republican plan.) The Democrats in the House and Senate refused to review any portion of this reform due to their lobby affiliation with ambulance chasing attorneys.
4. Revision of Medicare in that it does not change for anyone 55 and older. It would be changed for 54 and younger, due to not being sustainable past a 10-12 year period as it currently stands. It becomes a choice of absolutely no Medicare for anyone, or a restructuring to allow more people to participate and be covered. Democrats claim they want Medicare to continue, but since this was a Republican plan, will not review it. Democrats would prefer no one have Medicare in any form rather than admit there are problems in the current Medicare structure.

That was just a few ideas, but there were many, many more regarding HSAs, etc.

Thank you for a great post!

I just saw an estimate by the CBO, I believe (would have to check that because I had my headset on) that in NEW TAXES ALONE FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS, I am emphasizing because Obama said this was never a tax, is now in the ballpark of $800-Billion and steadily rising. The biggest burden is going to be on younger, healthier adults. I wonder how many of the 30-40s group actually get the amount of debt they are now responsible for based on that one entitlement program alone. They are also saying that the premium for a healthy adult will now average between $ 2000 to $ 3000 a year with regular increases to support this Trojan Horse.
