The ACA stands in its entirety. - Yea!

Yes - as a TAX. The big lie ("not a tax") has been exposed. - And November will not be your month.

[ In Reply To ..]
Odd, any political party rejoicing over an $8 trillion tax increase six months prior to an election.

Good luck with that!

Only the penalty for not buying insurance will be considered a tax - rather than a penalty. sm

If you do purchase health insurance you will not be taxed.
oh believe me, we will ALL be taxed more and more - sm

to cover this monstrosity of a mandate. You just sit back and watch as costs continue to go UP, and as services available to you go DOWN. For pete's sake, listen to the doctors -- they are already having problems with this. We are in rapid decline, healthcare and otherwise.
We've been down this road before. - The sky isn't falling

and crying wolf over and over again isn't going to change that. No viable assessment of these issues can be made until the entire plan has been implemented and it's been in place for at least 5 years.

In the meantime, I am ecstatic that my son (age 29), who is a contract sound engineer, is going to have coverage for the first time in his adult life. He will be able to receive treatment for an occult broken shoulder which healed badly since he couldn't afford treatment when it happened last year and for what we think is initial onset psoriasis that led him to hide out in his apartment for 6 weeks while it ran its course, waiting for it to resolve on its own without treatment. There IS a light at the end of this tunnel.
No, its a disaster.. and once again, shows what - a liar Obama is --ITS A TAX !!!nm

Our taxes are already too much, and my insurance - premium INCREASED because of OBamacare!!.nm

A tax you opt to pay or not. - I don't recall

[ In Reply To ..]
any Obama stump speeches where he said he would never penalize folks who choose not to comply with a federal mandate. Perhaps you could post a link to that video. What I do remember is his saying he would not raise taxes on middle class and lower income groups. A health care premium is not a tax. In fact, that was the cornerstone of his campaign the comfortable popular vote margin he racked up against his opponent would imply it had strong support. The income guidelines in ACA defining what percentage of health care premiums these groups pay are remarkably consistent with that statement. Alas, no lies, no broken promises.

Having said that, the GOP is perfectly free to raise the tax issue and beat it to a pulp between now and November. What they CANNOT do is campaign against the president on the grounds he passed an unconstitutional law. Also, this ruling would tend to take the air out of their "repeal and replace" hot air balloon as well.

I know the disappointment over this SCOTUS derailment of the GOPs strident health care hate campaign must be utterly devastating, but I have faith they will rise to this challenge. After all, there is plenty more where that came from. The cons never come up short on ways to tell each other how despicable they think our president is. Preaching to the choir is protected by the 1st Amendment, so I expect they will get out there and give it their best shot.
And heeere's the reachy stretchy show - ...

Mitt Romney - 2009 - "Our experience also demonstrates that getting every citizen insured doesn’t have to break the bank. First, we established incentives for those who were uninsured to buy insurance. Using tax penalties, as we did, or tax credits, as others have proposed, encourages ‘free riders’ to take RESPONSIBILITY for themselves rather than pass their medical costs on to others. This doesn’t cost the government a single dollar."

You're taxed on April 15th - anonna

When you file your taxes, you are paying 2.5% of your income if you don't have health insurance. That's how they get you to pay for "affordable health care." It is a tax.

(until they had to argue it in court). I personally am sick on hearing this. It will be devastating for this country. I pray this helps to motivate people to vote for Romney, to repeal and replace this mess. We need reform, but it can be done without ruining healthcare and bankrupting the country.

The only tax is on the people who refuse to - sm

purchase health insurance. The court said it could be enforce but needed to be called a tax rather than a penalty.

No more free ride. 50 million more people get coverage. 30 - million working poor get almost free coverage.

[ In Reply To ..]
This is big win for all of us and for our nation. We all see through our work that many people, including babies and children, suffer and die from lack of timely access to medical care.

BTW, many here claim to be working poor. For those for whom that is true, insurance premiums will PLUMMET when this all kicks in.
Yeah right....keep up the spin - ...

Listed as single largest tax increase in the history of the country. Try actually paying attention to what is going on...unless you are part of the 47% that pay no fed taxes and don't care. Hope the Repubs kick their asses in November. I'll vote straight Repub ticket just to get rid of the goofs currently in.
This is a defeat for the USA. Tons will be added - to Medicaid.. bankrupting the states!!!

Really... look into this. People need to see this mess for what it is. We need reform, but this entire law needs repealed.

The United States of America is now another step closer to socialism and poverty! Thank you Obama and all the brain dead democrats! WAKE UP AMERICA!
We are now going down the poverty road of Spain and Greece!

Brain dead not covered under Obamacare - They will NEVER come out of the coma

[ In Reply To ..]
Never saw so many people gathered in one place that pretended to be politically informed, and are so ignorant (lagging in knowledge) of any facts. Can't wait to see what happens when they can't get to see their docs on a timely basis, when their state taxes go through the roof. Already this is listed as the single largest tax INCREASE ON ALL TAXPAYERS in the history of USA. If the brain dead are part of those paying no Federal taxes, then explains the coma they live in.

Imperial Wizard Obama rears his ugly head again - AND increases taxes

[ In Reply To ..]
Anybody that actually works for a living anymore, not the 47% living off of everybody else's sweat, that thinks their taxes are NOT going up shows how politically iognorant they are of facts. Sad, sad day for Americans, but the commies and socies will be celebrating. Too bad they still can't understand that if you don't know history, you're doomed to repeat it. Wonder how the little coimmies are going to react when they can't get into see their docs, but illegals can, or they have to wait months for care, or when the IRS sweeps your bank accounts or goes through your financial records. Will vote for Romney because of this.

Nope. Those who elect to be taxed are taxed. Those who comply - with mandate aren't.

[ In Reply To ..]
To try to spin this into an overall tax hike is, well (in your words)...."politically ignorant."

Now, let me see here. Do I want affordable health insurance so I can get affordable health care, or do I prefer to pay exorbitant medical care costs AND a steep penalty tax to boot? Gee, I think I'll opt for the latter since I hate the president and his CONSTITUTIONAL health care plan sooooooo much and wouldn't be caught dead supporting his landmark legislative victory. Sign me up for the lose-lose decision.

The choice is all yours.

Wait until everybody loses Medicaid because it - is bankrupt. You have NO idea, but you will ! nm

It's reassuring to know that the dems are all over it, planning strategies to address this part of the ruling. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Stay tuned.

people or is woefully ignorant of the facts. It happens to be true about the repubs response to Hillarycare, the mandate. BTW, if you actually read the bill, ALL OF IT, you will find there are 2 clauses in there that prevent any legal action to be taken again anyone who does not get insurance, including a provision stopping the IRS from acting against anyone.
Pretty much describes your posts - ...
