When I read down this board I find it impossible....sm

Posted: Feb 18, 2016

to believe that this is an MT board.  I am seeing right wingers who seem to have no conception of the plight of MTs.  How could an MT support a candidate that opposes raising the minimum wage and is against improving the ACA or against single-payer healthcare?  Only a non-MT or an MTSO in my opinion.  It would be really nice to be able to discuss political issues that affect us as MTs without derision from outsiders.

;

Because some of us can see things bigger than just ourselves. - It's not a right wing/left wing issue.

The country is barely hanging on as it is. Why would one think all MTs are socialists?

Many are single with children, so they think all of us - are leftists who think the government

.

Eight levels of control in a social state. 1) Healthcare. - Control this and you control people.

[ In Reply To ..]
2) Poverty — Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.

3) Debt — Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.

4) Gun Control — Remove the ability to defend themselves from the government. That way you are able to create a police state.

5) Welfare — Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income).

6) Education — Take control of what people read and listen to — take control of what children learn in school.

7) Religion — Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools.

8) Class Warfare — Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

Now, think ...

Does any of this sound like what is happening to the United States?

You must be joking. The "party of endless regulations" - is the one on the left.

It's all about control, and always has been. - Lets end the GOP!

Opinions - Opinion, not derision

[ In Reply To ..]
What are you saying, that people are entitled to an opinion as long as they agree with you? I was an MT for most of my working life but I oppose raising the minimum wage for all jobs because those costs get passed along to others in terms of higher prices, it also means less full-time benefitted positions because small business can't afford it. Also, someone who flips burgers and gets orders wrong does not deserve to make more than an MA who works in patient care. I also oppose single payer health care . Having a different point of view is not derision, it's what people do in a democratic society.

As the poster above stated, differences of opinion is not derision. - anon

We do see the big picture. We are able to discuss issues that affect all of us without resorting to hiding in our safe space because we've been triggered.

[ In Reply To ..]
I am not asking you to change your mind about anything, just to think over what I have to say about some (but not all) of the reasons why people support Trump.

I assume by "right wing" you mean people who believe in a limited govt, and strict adherence to the original intent constitution. And "left wing" (liberal) is increasing size of govt and power, socialism, and treating the constitution as a "living document" that is endlessly malleable.

To start with, we have a very very liberal president, and a very very compliant congress who in the end does exactly what this very liberal president wants. The changing of the congressional guard from democrat to republican has made no difference carrying out the Obama agenda. Essentially, although on occasion, there is GOP lip-service resistance, in the end Obama gets exactly what he wants.

Thus, we have been sliding into a very socialist govt/economy for close to 8 years now. Under Clinton/Bush, our economy was a quite mixed capitalist/socialist economy; trending toward the left -- a pretty darn far cry from a "right wing" govt.

And as we have slipped further into this globalist socialistic economy, with push toward immigration, both physical and electronic, our profession, as well as many others, have been sent overseas to third world countries -- or third world citizens brought here; this increased competition has led to a huge cut in earnings and outright loss of employment. We see manifestations of this everywhere; for example, our factories have been dismantled and sent overseas, our welfare system is strained to the breaking point where our own people are not getting the help that they need. Our schools are overloaded, our prisons are overloaded, and we are experiencing an increase in crime by these third world misfits, who do not understand our ways or our culture or our language, not to mention the thuggish drug cartels and gangs -- and the potential for more terrorist acts. I could cite many more problems that we are facing but you already know what they are as well as I; and you are most concerned about the most immediate, what has happened to you and your ability to earn a decent living. I do not blame you in the slightest for making this your primary focus. It is something that is happening to everyone, everywhere.

Now along comes Donald Trump. And he is talking about these things while no other politician is. He is talking about what you are experiencing. He is articulating the problem. He says American jobs belong in America. He says bring back our factories. He says we need favorable trade agreements to protect our people, and that it includes the job threat from the electronic immigrant as well as the physical immigrant.

Otherwise, ALL of these politicians want to continue unfettered immigration, whether it is Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Marco Rubio, or Jeb Bush. They don't care that the trade agreements we have made with communist and third world nations are making our own people poor, and wreaking havoc on our future ability to defend ourselves in the event of another war. Their solution is to increase taxes on those lucky enough to still be able to pay them, throw the money into the welfare system, so they can bring in more immigrants -- and maybe a few crumbs for you, as your job prospects and income dwindle, but not too much, there is just not that much left over. Besides which, they don't really care about your vote, they are more interested in the huge number of immigrants, making them citizens, or allowing them to vote anyway, gaining their votes, and keeping themselves in power, while our country crumbles into ruin.

This is the mess we are in created by what Ted Cruz calls "the Washington cartel." (I am sure you don't like Ted Cruz but this an apt phrase to describe the democrat/republican cabal in Washington who have wreaked such havoc on our country.)

So Mr. Trump is an outsider, he tells it like it is, he is hardly "right wing," his position on eminent domain is rather extreme in my opinion, he has not had a lot of success in the marriage department, he is a flawed candidate BUT he is telling the truth, he is saying articulating the real problem that no one else is doing, and he is saying what needs to be done.

My thought is simply this, the professional political class has nearly destroyed this country, and if they are allowed to remain in charge, they will do so. Why not let an outside try his hand. Sadly, it may be that these professional politicans have done such damage that it is now impossible to fix, so we have nothing to lose by letting someone who is not a part of this "Washington Cartel" try; someone who has some real-world experience in defining problems, setting goals, balancing budgets, and getting things done.

As I said, I am not asking you to change your mind, just stop thinking in terms of "right wing" and "left wing" or getting all caught up on trivialities such as climate change (its the weather, it changes) or the war on women (recognizing that birth control is cheap and readily available) or whatever the nonsense issue de jour may be, and recognize the real issue, our steadily increasing descent into poverty and chaos.

I for one will give Bernie Sanders that chance to turn us around. - sm

You are right though that the Donald is not a right winger though. I think it is hilarious how he has pulled the wool over his supporters eyes. He is a closet democrat. My main complaint about Trump is he is dishonest. He tells his "truth", and most of his truths end up being hateful or lies. Not presidential material.

Thank you! Eloquent voice of reason, very much appreciated. - anon

vote against their own interests, not to mention the entire country's interests, time and time again. The right accomplishes this by only talking about knee-jerk emotional issues, which causes their constituency to focus only on those, and entirely forget about the big picture. I'm pretty sure that's the demographic the word "sheeple" was coined to describe.

We disagree with you, and with reasons that are as valid as yours or more so. I suppose it's necessary for you to assume that we're driven by other factors because you simply cannot accept the idea that thinking people might not see things your way.

And please don't lecture ANYONE about "emotional appeals", etc. No one uses pixie dust and unicorns as effectively as the left.

I Have Got To Find A Board For Conservatives SoonNov 19, 2015
I have got to find a board where you can speak without someone stuffing their fist down your throat. This whole board is like this. No one can give their opinion without being called irrational or whatever. Wouldn't it be too bad if Obama sits by while America burns and ISIS takes over, beheads our people and installs Sharia law. It could happen, yet you all want to sit there with your head in the sand. You never listen to the other side and the proof they show on the news for wha ...

I am so disappointed no one answered my post on the gab board. We here in Indiana are so anxious to find the man who murdered the two young teens in Delphi, Indiana. We are praying for some end to this awful tragedy for the families. ...

An Impossible Task (AGT Tonight)Sep 07, 2010
I just came upstairs after watching America's Got Talent tonight.  In the years the show has been on I don't think there has ever been this level of talent.  I divided my votes between Michael Grimm and Prince Poppycock, who put on an unbelievable performance.  The judges are correct;  this is impossible.  I felt so bad for Anna, who fell down the stairs at the very beginning of their dance.  She pulled it together to complete a fantastic performance. ...
