that said the $150 billion tax extender (HR 4213) has to go back to the House before it is final. Maybe that applied in the event it were amended in the Senate, I'm not sure. Do you know?

I'm still trying to find the info about house action, but did read "it had to be merged with a companion bill in the house." Not sure about the name of this companion bill or what that means in terms of how much longer it will take before it is ready for signature.

The nail-biter for me is that they need to get this done before Obama takes off for Europe, which I think happens sometime around March 18, a week from tomorrow. Otherwise, I am out of business as of March 28. I have $167 benefit hanging out in the breeze after the March 27 deadline, as it was designated in the 30-day stop-gap measure, been looking for a job since mid November.

First I want to say that for all people who are unemployed this is great news. It affects over half the people in my family and a lot of you out there. It's horrible being unemployed.

My question is though have they said where they are going to get the money to pay for this. Is there something somewhere that I can read more about this. It seems like every time I turn around there is something they are passing that I will get taxed for. I would really like to know where they are going to get the money.

There are 3 different ways you have to qualify. One is based on amount of money earned in your 4-quarter base period year. The second involves continuing elegibility requirements which include: being registered for work with the state employment commission, be authorized to work in the US, be medically able to work, available to work full time, be in compliance with the initial 7-day total or partial unemployment waiting period and to participate in re-employment services (job skills training, among others) once regular (as opposed to extended) benefits are exhausted.

The last requirement entails the reason you are no longer working. Laid off workers and those who were let go through no fault of their own qualify. If you quit for these following reasons, you can qualify: If your employer cuts you down to half time or reduces your pay significantly; medical condition that does not allow you to work at the same job; hostile work environment conditions like discrimination, repeated sexual harassment, or threats to your person; dangerous or hazardous work environment.

I qualified under the hostile work environment provision whereby management and coworkers were abusive and mangement failed to address/resolve those problems.
