BP Agrees to Speed Up Payments

Posted: Jun 10, 2010

Maybe BP can do something right, after all: The Obama administration says that BP has agreed to expedite payments to businesses and individuals whose livelihoods have been damaged by the oil spill. The administration made the announcement after a meeting with BP executives, including CEO Tony Hayward. BP will now change the way it processes claims, including a decision to no longer make businesses wait for payments until they have closed their books for each month.

We'll see - hope this is not one more false statement just to placate and stall . .

;

It won't make up for the disaster - sm

but people in those areas whose very livelihoods have been stomped on by this oil spill deserve something.

I too hope that this isn't BP and Obama blowing smoke up our butts.

I think they should be made to cough up as much money immediately - Really?

before they file for bankruptcy.

But, you're right -- $$ ain't gonna a do a whole lot for those helpless creatures that are perishing every second . . .

oops, meant as much money as possible nm - Really?

Of all the things that have ever been said about famed Vice Presidential nominee and occasional Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, none have been as trenchant or as poignant as this: "Her presence underscores the impact and importance of bowling." HER VERY PRESENCE DOES THESE THINGS.That's from the statement proffered by the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America, who "announced today that the bowling industry rolled a strike [ed. note: WITTICISM!], securing Sarah Palin as the keynote s ...

Obama Kept Military Out Of The Loop On Cash Payments To Iran. Sep 23, 2016
military officials to weigh in on his administration's decision in January to send $400 million in cash to Iran. After all, Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, and terrorists prefer cash to wire payments because it's so difficult to track. And its armed forces have both directly and indirectly threatened the U.S. military in the Middle East. But Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry did not consult Secretary of Defense Ash Carter or the Chairman of the Jo ...

Obama Structured Payments To Iran To Avoid 2008 Law.Aug 25, 2016
but they were done in a strange way. $99,999,999 payments. This seemed odd, But there was a law they were circumventing. Classic criminal structuring. Judgment fund is capped at $100,000,000. It was structuring pure and simple. The Judgment Fund is the mechanism Congress established to pay most settlements and judgments against the federal government. The Fund, originally created in 1956 and limited then to paying judgments of $100,000 or less.... The Constitution [states] in Clause 7 of ...

Up To Speed: Five Things You Need To Know On SyriaSep 04, 2013
For why gas is reason for a drawing a "red line," see #4. #3 explains Obama's grim, pragmatic long-term goal for a region way beyond our ability to actually control. (Note that this article, like all the others, does not explain what happened to change our very deliberative White House's announcement of a strike to an announcement of intention to seek Congressional approval. Something that, whatever else, made them decide to set the  strike date back.) Up to Speed: Five Things ...

HIgh-Speed Rail LinesNov 10, 2010
Click on the link to see where billions and billions of stimulus money would go for high speed rail lines. Note that 3/4 of them do not connect to the rest of the country.  They are mostly 'local' rail lines. At the bottom or side of the chart, you can click on each line and see the projected cost of each.   In my honest opinion, from reading some of the other newspapers and journals, most of these lines will be so fast, anywhere between 100-236 mph trains, yet only cut 1/2 ...

Romney Thinks FEMA Should Be Disbanded, Gov. Christie No Longer Agrees. SmOct 30, 2012
I'm glad FEMA is here in the Northeast. We have a lot of damage here and a lot of people without power.  Funny how Gov. Christie changed his opinion about FEMA being disbanded after New Jersey got hit with Hurricaine Sandy/Superstorm.  Well, not really funny.  He apparently saw the light. So, if you live in New England or the Eastern seaboard are you still voting for Romney?  You think your state can handle a major disaster by itself?  Think again. ...
