Now, having said that, there are a couple of issues that need air. The wingers are losers here as they can no longer claim that President Obama is not a friend to Israel, since this platform change occurred as a result of his DIRECT INTERVENTION. This would be perceived by the more level-headed among us as strong leadership.
The up side to this is our party is NOT in the position to have a platform plank that the candidate has to distance himself from, nor do we have to make ridiculous statements such as the party's platform is not necessarily the candidate's platform. The disagreement has been resolved in a less than desirable fashion, but never did it rise to the level of the rules changes debacle that degenerated into an open physical brawl and ultimately suppressed delegates' votes they were sent to the convention to cast via due process as encoded state election laws.
BTW, party platforms, RNC and DNC, are nonbinding general policy guidelines and in no way dictate or predict future policy priorities or specific content. This would also mean that a platform plank is not a formal recognition of Jerusalem as capitol of Israel, a concept that is bound to be disputed until the occupier withdraws from the occupied and the war criminals are no longer in position of power and authority.
So "their hatred for Israel" has just been rendered null and void by the president himself. You are free to go find a new shtick, now that the claim has assumed impotent status. Oh, it also kinda sorta takes the wind out of that Godless Anointed One sail as well.
For the record, having resolved the disagreement, the dems will now move forward, unfazed, in full support of their platform AND the candidate who embraces it 100%.
