Excellent post - Herman Cain knows what he is talking bout - Proud that I voted for him

[ In Reply To ..]
Out of all the candidates he is the only one who understood this.

Maybe next time Mr. Cain. Keep writing. It's a pleasure to read basic common sense. Something missing in politics.

I look at this differently - mbmt

I am so happy that President Obama was reelected because that means that Americans do not have to put up with the likes of Herman Cain or Mitt Romney running our country and probably into the ground at that.

you can look at it differently all you want... - that is your option

[ In Reply To ..]
but when the true facts are exposed and America as we know it is in shambles, you may well be one of the whiners and complainers about having been wrong in your choice. Your choice is your choice, but time always exposes the truth, and it will again. From what I have seen only in the past month since the election, and he feels he is securely in place once again to do his deeds with his hidden agenda, things are already progressing once again towards what is best for him and not for the country as a whole. I just cannot support someone who is only "in it" for himself and not for what the country so desperately needs. His actions are already speaking louder than his gilt-edged words.

So with you, MBMT. I was thinking of the 1960s - and 70s and how hopeful and optimistic

[ In Reply To ..]
we were as a nation before this national gloom of negativism and fear took us over. It's so good to know the wheel's still turning and we're finally progressing forward into a happier, can-do period. Just in time for our own little grandchildren, who are starting to enter school. I don't want them growing up with the defeatist messages young people of the last quarter century have had to endure.

As for old Herm, some things will carry over for those who want them. If he doesn't drop dead, what do you want to bet Herm, too old to use the women he buys now, will still be making offensive remarks to get attention? :)

If you voted for Obama...sm - MT

you haven't a clue anyway because you think Obama is some type of savior. He's flesh and blood just like the rest of us and he's hoping you never see the light or get a clue. It's the only way he can continue to destroy this country.

sad that all of you Obama haters - have retreated

MT, we moderates and libs don't have "saviors" and don't sublimate - leaders as in "reaganism."sm

[ In Reply To ..]
We don't put blind faith in our leaders and we criticize and question their decisions.

Your imaginings of how we think are actually characteristic of the hard right, which tends to idealize its leaders and offer blind loyalty in return for being lead. Understand just how different moderates and liberals are from you, and I suspect you'd be truly astonished. People on the far right are really different from those in the middle and moderate left in how they think. BTW, education lessens the differences considerably, which are both habit and hard wiring.

Why is it that terms like savior, worship, god, idolize... - sm

Right = Savior, worship, God.

Wrong = Liberal, unGodly, if it feels good, do it.
MT, many people are religious not because they're - spiritual but because they are
[ In Reply To ..]
authoritarian followers and the god they're introduced to by their parents is the ultimate authority. They call themselves Christians they way they call themselves Californians or Texans--a label they're taught to apply to themselves. Whether they become better people for it depends on their religious leaders and how well they are able to obey their directives. Some try very hard and successfully, others don't try at all.

As for the question you tried to answer, see above for the real answer. The authoritarian follower personality type wants and needs leaders it can look up to and take direction from and will manufacture one out of very ordinary human cloth if necessary.

Speaking of, the national scene seems to be sadly lacking a charismatic figure on the right. Time for another actor to step up, I'm thinking. Casting call for "great conservative American leader." Reagan redux, with his kind fatherly humor, or are you in the mood for something different?

Note that for all the Left's influence in Hollywood, we've never chosen an actor to be President because he seemed so right for the part. The Right has, and this is indicative of who we are on both sides.

Obama Urges GOP To Ignore Low-Income VotersDec 29, 2014
White voters are abandoning the Democratic Party because they feel left out, so the GOP should react by wooing Latino voters, President Barack Obama said in an interview with National Public Radio. “There’s a burden on Democrats to need to make very clear to a broad swath of [white] working-class and middle-class voters that we are, in fact, fighting for them. And there’s also an obligation on the part of the Republican Party to make sure that they are broadening their coaliti ...
